Looking back, is there anything you totally overpaid for? Did you know at the time?
The only thing that comes to mind right now for me is my garter, and yes, I knew it at the time. I didn't have one, decided 2 days before that I did kind of want one, and I was running really low on time. I was picking up my new pair of wedding shoes at Sandy's and decided to buy a really overpriced ($16!) garter while I was there, and save myself the time and gas involved in hunting one down. If I planned ahead I'm sure I could have found something at walmart or ebay for $2.
In the end, it was nice to have one, it was pretty and in my pictures, and I'm glad I bought it, but I kick myself for paying $16 for a garter.
Anyone else?

dont even stress it, its done with and its $16, nothing that put you in the hole. And btw most garters on ebay are about that much. I bought my garter from ebay and it was around that price too, so even if you did it would've been the same thing.
Is there anything i overpaid for? can i put the whole wedding
I feel the same way i wouldn't change my day but I just can't believe the amount of money I spent
ITA...can't believe how much it added up to. It's done and we had a great day but wow

Re: Is there anything you totally overpaid for?
omg i shudder when i think about it. my hair and my maid and matron of honors' hair. I had my hairdresser take the day off to do like max 3 hours of hair. when i orignally asked her she said it would cost $200 per hour. Which was a f of a lot but i love her and knew i'd love my hair so i figured for me an hour, and the 2 girls 30 mins each. I didnt want them to have elaborate hair.
1 week before the wedding i go get highlights. I tell her I think we'll only need her for 2 hours. she says it doesnt matter how long its a MINIMUM OF $1000!!!!! for her to take the day off etc. i almost had a heart attack. I said if i knew it would be that much i wouldnt have booked her. she says she'll go down to $800. i call dh in a panic and love that he is says look its a week before, dont worry about it if you want her then it's fine. she did a great job but it burned me to hand that money over to her. i never went back to her again.
so yeah, my hair!

The DJ...got plasmas and upgrades we didn't really need, and in the end they were rude to us, so I wish I didn't give them all that money.

I dunno, I don't think $16 for a garter counts as overpaying

Re: Is there anything you totally overpaid for?
there is one thing i do get annoyed about but thats bc i never saw the reason for it. I had booked only a party bus and a rolls royce. I figured out exactly how it would work and i thought my plan was great. I said the bus will pick up the guys first and take them to the church, then pick my girls up from my house and ill ride to the church in the rolls with my parents. Then i said that parents can take the rolls together after the church bc we will be on the bus with BP. Well of course that wasnt good enough, everyone kept saying how i should've booked another limo bc it wouldnt be enough and how will in-laws get to the church(it was 2 blocks away) basically after being told i was a bad person and made to feel bad, the week of my wedding i booked another limo only bc everyone told me my plan wouldn't work. Ok so yeah i hired the other limo, basically in-laws were in that limo alone after the ceremony and my parents were alone in the rolls, and then they all asked me why i booked the 3rd limo. They said they felt bad bc the truth was they didnt really need him.

Probably my veil and my shoes but I really loved them both and I don't regret it

I think overall I did really well on getting the most bang for my buck. Total bargain hunter! Though, I think we probably could have done better on the limos and tuxes (the two things DH was in charge of!) He made up for it by getting discounts in other areas though.
Overall the WHOLE wedding was $$$$$ so I'm with those of you that feel like you overpaid for the whole wedding. In the end it was worth it though, and people are still talking about how great and different it was. Though I still think about the little things, even 4 months later

this happened to me too. FIL made a big stink about us getting a limo for him, 'and how could we did that, b/c he did that when he got married' and by the time the wedding came around the limo situation was a mess and HE ended up not going in it! $1200 down the drain

Re: Is there anything you totally overpaid for?
Yea our Honeymoon - we did Ireland for like 9 days and we got the airfair/hotel for like 4k but we then had to do public transport and eat and everything else which did add up especially with the dollar being poopy. We could of done everything for 5k with food included but we had be locked into a tour company which would of made us go nuts since I did that two years ago.
So in the end I wish I just shortened the stay to 3 days dublin, 3 days galway no stay in Clifden in a castle which was $$$$$.

Re: Is there anything you totally overpaid for?
I needed to get me, DH and a coupl eof our friends to the hotel after the wedding. I figured out who was coming to the hotel and figured we could all fit in one large van bc some people were taking their cars. The shuttle guy totally roped me into ordering a second van 'for comfort issues'. I didnt need the second van. I know this bc he showed up late after we were all in the first van. Oh well.

Always assumed they were like $2 but maybe not? It wasnt anything custom and didn't come with a toss garter, guess I feel a little better?

Re: Is there anything you totally overpaid for?
Our wedding cake because we could have used the one included in our package but didn't. And our ceremony music. There is a woman on here who always gets rave reviews and we used someone else who cost a lot more and then ended up dropping the music and not playing the song right as I walked down the aisle.

Re: Is there anything you totally overpaid for?
I would have to say I overpaid for my invitations...definitely. For what I got for my photography, I might have overpaid, but I'll make that final decision when I get my albums. And as much as I LOVED my cake...I'm sure the one from the hall would have been fine. I did love my cake, but it was def overpriced.

Re: Is there anything you totally overpaid for?
I think everything we paid for was totally worth it.. dont get me wrong the whole wedding was CRAZY expensive but I wouldnt change anything about it for the world!
ETA: ok maybe one thing.. my headpiece.. was too much money to share.. but sometimes I wear it around the house after I have a glass of wine
