I guess as I've gotten older, it doesn't bother me as much. I don't go out w/o mu often, even if I just take a big brush and put some bronzer on so I don't look pale, then I'll just throw some lip gloss on in the car. NEVER too busy for a lil gloss!!

But, Donna, I think we have the same hairstyle and I wear it curly every once in awhile- it actually looks cute and I get a ton of compliments on it. If I'm 'going out' then it will always be straight, but if I don't have time to straighten and it's something last minute, I'll wear it curly. Try it!!

i loatheeee going out without being completely done up- hair blown out and straightened and full makeup. i like to feel like everythings 'just right.' getting ready is a long annoying process, so i can see how if DH wanted to go out and i wasn't in the mood to go through the whole thing, i might be like..ehh not up for it. i HATE my bad skin which is the main reason for ALWAYS wearing makeup when i go out and i have really thin hair that gets greasy and too stringy if i don't blow it out and everything each morning so i always need it done and i hate wearing my hair up (probably goes back to feeling like naked and like you can see too much of my face and bad skin) so yea, basically most of us have our eccentricities or insecurities. im trying to get over it, for example we went to the beach the past few days and of course im not going to wear a full face of makeup and get no tan, so i had to force myself to just pull up dirty hair, no makeup at all, and then shower once i got back home. i was a little uncomfortable and embarrassed about people seeing me like that but i got over it (who really gets that up in your face and who really cares that much about me and my face? lol) and DH is always saying who cares and you look beautiful, which does help. i used to be much worse about this but ive really been trying to work on getting over it and not be so self-focused. its not always easy fighting the negative things you think about yourself and tell yourself but really worth it bc you waste so much time worrying about what others think when they probably could really care less and dont think a thing or see what you see about yourself. youre a beautiful girl! so yea, basically im SUPER anal about trying to look my best as often as possible. it makes me feel much better and more comfortable that way. call me crazy. lol

Jess I am so glad I am not alone in this feeling!!

I know its all psychological but seriously I really feel like people are looking at me if I DONT have makeup on and my hair done, which is prob not true cause I know realistically people arent gonna care or even notice.

i really think it all started in High School. I went to a Catholic School where we had to wear uniforms so the only way the girls really had to distinguish themselves or show their personality visually was through hair and makeup . So I paid ALOT of attention to it, and I would never ever dare to to school without it. It was like my ritual. But then once I went to college, it was like, i can relax....but I didnt, it just got worse and I didnt want to leave the house without being all done up. Like it gets to the point that DH doesnt understand why i dont just roll out of bed and go somewhere with him. Im like, you dont know whats its like to not want to leave to house until you go through your 20-30 minute ritual, its so annoying!!

oh donna, just tell him that he should be thankful he's not my DH, who waits an hour and a half+ while i get ready (thats including shower at least)!!

it is psychological...we all have our reasons for it and youre def not alone, i know alot of girls on here may not be worried about always having hair and makeup done, but im sure each of us could think of something we're concerned with or insecure about. but honestly i can almost guarantee you that ppl are NOT seeing what you see, and if for whatever reason someone noticed something for like a second, they walk away and move on with their own life. probably 99% of the people are thinking about THEIR own cr@p or thing they're hyper aware of, hah. we all tend to be a lil self-focused to some degree. as for anyone who would think something negative about you, who gives a hoot about em!

i have similar issues, so clearly im talking to you AND myself here! i need to keep taking my own advice.

maybe i'm a huge freak - but this is my middle name lol

i almost NEVER wear makeup (unless i have a HUGE pimple on my face or am going out out) and unless i'm going someplace special, i usually just throw my hair up in a bun or let it air dry straight from the shower

I am like this. I just think when I look good I feel good and have more confidence. I hate going out without having my hair done this probably sounds crazy but I feel fat if my hair is back and I just feel better with a bit of make up on. I am not crazy though I'm not one of those people that wakes up 30 minutes before their dh so he will never have to see me without makeup. If I am home doing work or relaxing I have no problem having my hair back and showing my zits.

I must get it from my mom she always goes out looking great she used to iron my team uniforms I had creases in my soccer shorts. I am obsessed with ironing now too. I hate wrinkles some days I see people in work clothes and it looks like they ironed their shirt with a stick. My mom also would change if she was doing construction work around the house with my dad and had to go to Home Depot my dad would have spackle in his hair and a pencil in his ear but my mom always looked ready to go out. I am exactly like that now. I just think if I know I can look better why go out looking sloppy. When I look good I feel good and for that it is all worth it .

This all goes out the window if I am hungover .

i am laughing right now bc my mother is the SAME way. She has 'home clothes' and 'out clothes' so even if I ask her to come to the supermarket she needs a few minutes to change and put on lipstick! LOL

I asked her for some 'old ratty things' to bring camping. Instead, I have a perfectly washed comforter, and immaculate IRONED bedsheets for our air mattress. I asked for old dirty sheets and she was horrified that I would let other people see faded sheets!

I look better with my mu on!!!! NOT naturally hot!!!!!!!

i only very recently started wearing foundation or powder of any kind, and in the summer time i usually skip it since my skin tans nicely, and makes my skin look healthy. i almost always wear at least mascara, blush, and lipgloss, and more often than not, some eyeliner. can i leave the house without them, you betcha! if i'm just running errands, i really dont' care what i look like. if we're going out, i put on such little make up that, that it'll take me literally 5 minutes to put it on.

as for my hair, now with it super short, it takes me 2 minutes to do it (OK, 1 minute!). even when i had it really long, i always wore it natural because i really hate fussing over how i look. i have no patience to straighten it, or do anything other than shake it out. i put in some frizz control stuff, some mousse, and leave it. i don't even own a hair dryer, and have no plans on ever owning one. it'll just sit there collecting dust. when i had long hair, and it was super humid, and my hair was a frizzball, i just slicked it back into a ponytail, and was happy with that.

i'm definitely all about NO FUSS! (i'm sure this is so not what you wanted to hear )

Donna you should get over this, its ok

SUUUUUURE we know you are naturally hot

I could wear no makeup or a ton of makeup, I could sleep two hours or ten hours and no matter what I always get 'you look SO tired.' I am the queen of dark circles. i won't leave the house without concealer on and a little lipgloss, but that's about it.

I never do my hair, especially in the summer. too hot to even look at the blow dryer.

i am with you on the catholic school uniform thing though! I wore a lot more makeup in high school.

i usually dont wash my face at night (i find i get more pimples when i do b/c it will totally dry out my skin) so i noamlly have on yesterdays make up! (i cant believe im letting myself out of the closet) This is due to me being completely lazy and not a morning person... if i dont have to go anywhere till the late afternoon i will do my hair and make up... if i shower after work and its late its a ponytail and no make up same goes for the morning unless i have on the day befores make up

p.s. i had to add donna that hats and glasses are my fix to everything!!!!
