Re: Need opinions ASAP
Hi Girlies, WOW Jenn, first off what a STUPID woman. Seriously. So yes, I also believe that old nugget 'in vino veritas' BUUUUT that was flat out inappropriate.
Let me ask something; is there a chance she was trying to make her OWN S.O. a bit jealous and your DH just happened to be the 'safest' one to use toward that end? I don't know I can kinda see that happening, because it sounds so weird that her SO just 'happened' to look away at that EXACT moment. Sometimes the booze can make people very manipulative.
As to the next step... I'm going to say let it go. Bunch of reasons, here's a couple:
a) The moment has passed. She may or may not remember, may or may not regret it, and may or may not escalate the situation if you were to call/email/otherwise address it after the fact. Too many variables and I don't see any upside to calling her out at this time.
b) Think of Pete - by nature a pacifist, but still a GUY. I for one would find it VERY EMASCULATING to have my wife fight my battles. Particularly if I've clearly said I prefer to let it go. Clearly you two have no issue between you in terms of trust, now its time for the RESPECT part; respect his wishes, or you might have a lousy domestic situation to deal with, which is far worse than a drunken ho at a wedding, who you BOTH know poses no threat to you guys.
c) It s*cks but there's a long time relationship there, and in all likelihood she'll pop up at various family events in the future. Its not a situation where some chick in a bar who you don't know put the moves on your hubby -- in that case you'd have to settle for a lack of closure because you have no way to contact the jerk; treat this situation similary (for now), as if you have no idea who she was.
* I'll add that for the future, you and Pete MUST discuss this so that if it happens again (and likely it will with enough alcohol), you have an agreed-upon strategy for dealing with it. Maybe Pete can agree to do everything he can NOT to be isolated with her or sitting next to her (he won't always be able to change that, but its something to shoot for). If she makes 1 single inappropriate gesture, he walks away and grabs you and gives you a whopper of a sexy kiss right in front of her. If she does anything else, PETE takes charge of the situation, whether its embarassing her publicly OR taking her into a corner right that minute, and saying, I am MARRIED. You are being very disrespectful, and I want you to knock it off. Then walk away, no chance to defend herself or plead her case. She'll get the idea..
I realize this is TOUGH to do, but I honestly honestly think Pete HAS to be handler on this one. Trust me, NO ONE in attendance would look at you as 'weak' so don't let your ego get the better of you on this one, just love your hubby, he knows what's going on with this one!!!
