Newlywed Contest - Share a wedding tip and win an iPod Shuffle!

Did you receive some great advice while planning your wedding? Or do you have your own wedding advice to share? Post a wedding tip on this thread for your chance to win an LIWeddings.com blue iPod Shuffle!



All you have to do to enter this contest is reply to this official contest post with a wedding tip that helped you in planning your wedding. Or it could be something you learned after the wedding as well that you wish you had done differently.

Winner will be selected at random from all the entries. Multiple entries are allowed. Only one wedding tip per post. Contest ends at midnight on November 22nd and the winner will be announced on November 23rd. This contest is open to newlyweds only.

How about go with your gut and don't listen to people who try to change your mind about things. You will ALWAYS second guess no matter what. In the end, if something gets messed up, you're better off knowing YOU are the one who made the decision (as opposed to taking someone else's suggestion and it getting messed up... and then you resent said someone).

oh and bring flip flops or slippers or flats. even if you really think you don't want to change your shoes. it's better to have them just incase. i wish i had. instead i ran around barefoot.

-- stole this rule from another bride but I'm going to share anyhow: have a 'five foot rule' at the CH & reception. In other words, don't be more than five feet away from your new hubby's at any point (except to use the restroom, or re-apply makeup or whatnot). DH and I did this and really loved that we did - the time flew by so quickly and we were happy to have as much time together as humanly possible

if you need something with you, have your DH put it in his pocket rather than leaving it in the bridal suite. I forgot to bring my vows to the alter with me ... oops

when you're giving your final numbers to the RH, give them about 5 people LESS than what you really have (as long as it doens't go below your minimum). Make sure to also put 5 less people on your seating charts because that's what they use to count up people, ultimately. Give your correct seating chart as late as you can (with everyone on it). Or possibly don't put a sibling on there but just tell them where they'll be sitting (since they won't have a place card either)

Ask RH to pack up a couple dinner for you and DH to take back whereever you're spending the wedding night. That way you still get to enjoy the food even if you don't get a chance to eat at the reception.

Go to your cocktail hour and get all the hello's out of the way so you get a chance to eat and dance at the reception.

Designate somone to bring home all your stuff from RH (cake topper, toasting flutes, ect.)

Its your wedding, its your special day. Dont let anyone tell you how to plan your wedding and all the details. If you wanna wear flip flops... Wear them. If you wanna have a mashed potato bar, have it. Choose your bridal party wisely, and dont let them ruin your day. Takes lots of funny picturee wth your hubby, dont let the photographer tell you its not proper!

Best advice ....when you are dancing with your hubby at your first dance, take a look around and absorb everything in. Look at al the people surrounding you and are there supporting you! It is truly the second best feeling of the day, the first being 'i do'

communicate with ALL vendors and push them to communicate with each other BEFORE the wedding day.
don't be nervous that you're nagging a vendor, you're just making sure that they execute your day the way you've always pictured it. give examples of what you want and don't want... dont be scared to offend... just make sure they understand.
