understand that NOTHING is perfect, everything happens for a reason and there is no magical time machine that will go back and change things... if something goes wrong, breathe, vent, kick, scream, cry.. whatever you need to calm down.. eventually you'll look back and you might just laugh.

Don't book anything too far out, odds are you will change your mind a thousand times before it comes time to actually finalize everything.

No matter how much time you have allotted for photos tack another hour or two on to it and don;t be afraid to speak up if you think your photographer isn't getting the shots you want.

Try not to get separated from your hubby. The night flies and before you know it they're playing your last song. We spent the entire night by each other's side and I am so glad we did.

go over the timeline you have envisioned with each vendor to ensure it is reasonable and EVERYONE is on the same page. it is better to plan the timing ahead then to feel super rushed that day b/c you forgot to account for traffic, etc....

try to do as many DIY projects as possible, it would make the wedding more special and is more affordable.

-Don't waste your time with photo cards. Family members and friends will ignore the cards and not send you any of their pictures.

Get everything in writing from vendors, including contingency plans in case they are unable to make it. Call and verify all information the week before, or get a DOC who will help you with this

double check place cards!

when we received them from the calligraphy vendor - looked great BUT i personally did not check them- and of course last names from U-A were missing.... (guessing was done by sections) and those ppl did not know where to sit!!!

it really was not a super big deal cause we knew where they went... but only if i listened amd just checked them and not assumed they would be perfect... it would of saved a lot of

Leave photoshare cards at each place setting. They are so cheap and so worth it. We had tons of pictures uploaded and waiting waiting for us when we came back form our HM and some even the day after the wedding. Helped hold us over until the proofs were ready.

at the end of the day, people wont remember all the details that you may think are important. Its better to look at the overall experience than to get caught up in one or two details that seem immensely important before the wedding that you look back afterwards and go 'why was I so obsessed with that?'

If you're taking pictures outside have an indoor back up that you like just as much in case of inclement weather, this way you don't think 'if my pics had been there instead of here they would be better' everytime you look at them.

i don't want the iPod shuffle because i already won a nano from you guys . but here is my advice:

If you have an idea that other people don't seem to get, don't let their opinions discourage you! There are so many brides on here that went with their gut, and their 'crazy idea' turned out to be a highlight of the wedding. I had my pictures taken at a public library despite so many people telling me how dumb an idea that was, and the pictures from that shoot are by FAR everyone's favorites!

Don't stress yourself last minute over little details- especially DIY. If it looks like something isn't going to get done, scrap it! No one will miss it, not even you!

oh, and another thing: Negotiate your pretty little behind off--IT IS WORTH IT!!! it IS possible to have a beautiful, budgeted wedding on LI! My wedding (honeymoon included) was $12k, and I had some amazing vendors!

Don't ever forget what the day is REALLY all about!!! YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND!!! During the whole day, there will be small things that will most likely go wrong, but I promise you that NO1 notices them except you!!! :) oh and ENJOY YOUR WEDDING DAY/NIGHT!!! It really does fly by SOOOOOOOOOO fast!!!

Go with your instinct. If something about a vendor doesn’t seem right, or seems too good to be true then it probably is. Do your research and be sure you are happy with your decision.
