it seems like there was so much drama on the 07 board that it almost felt like the newlyweds were agains the brides!!!
i will confess the thing that NO one wants to truly admit....after my wedding has been over and done with.....all the posts on the 07 board seem slightly mundane concerning things like 'my invites are here!' or 'rsvps coming in!' this doesn't mean i'm not HAPPY for those ladies....i am! but at the same time, once your wedding comes and goes, you kind of feel a little 'over' all the little details that we all made a big deal out of. (i of course do not separate myself from this group...i did it too) after the day comes we all finally are like 'wow, i guess making sure i had a satin ribbon on each favor really wasn't that big a deal' or something along those lines.
i hope no one takes my words and twists them into thinking i'm saying i don't care about other brides ...cause i am in a fellow LIWers wedding this year, and have at least like 5 more weddings to go to...and i'm VERY happy for EACH and every lady. but i guess once you are married and the day comes....while you miss the excitement of YOUR day...you kind of feel a little 'over' the details.
any other fellow newlyweds feeling what i'm saying?

Re: Newlyweds vs. Brides to be! (confession to make)
Very well said Melissa. I stay around to see the other 07 brides get married...but its hard to read a vent when you know that that day it wont matter. I was anal about everything being perfect and in place and matching and this way or that...I can say ALOT of things did not go the way I originally planned but it didnt matter that day. I have more weddings this year and yes I am excited to go to them, these are my friends...but really Im over it
ETA: Upcoming brides wont understand until their day is over and its unfortunate but its the truth. You spend sooo much time making decisions that when the day is over you kind of laugh at yourself for being that way over the color of napkins

Ok.. Now I'm here... I have to agree that since I was engaged for awhile, I was over the whole 'planning thing' for a few months leading up to the wedding. I just stopped posting as well.. Eh, what are you going to do? I never was into the details anyway, so now that I'm married I'm definitely over it.. I am also totally aware that this is coming off strong, so I apologize in advance..
Yay MJ for being a bad azz as usual.. I heart you beetch.. You said what I never would have wanted to say....well- atleast not FIRST...

I am sooooo feeling you Melissa! I actualyl just came back from the photographer today (I will post on that next) and I am so DONE! I am spent financially and emotionally.... I loved my day, but it's over and now we have new worries like trying to buy a house. (I think we can afford to move to Wyoming on the amount of money we have!
I wish love and luck to all the brides to be, but yes...your feelings change... especially since all my '07 girls that I loved on this board are already married or don't post much anymore!!! us old- schoolers from 2005 are just about done!

I agree 100%... it's not that I don't want to hear about your invitations or favors.. it just doesn't excite me anymore..
Although I will be the first person to compliment someone, bc I am genuinely happy for them..
I am just glad my wedding is over!!!

yay!! i'm so glad that i can be the voice of reason. i admit that as a 'bride' i was sensitive to things and made the biggest deal out of what music to give my string trio for the BP processional.....BUT now i'm like 'oh well'
especially since i was such an early bride....i stick around to give some words of wisdom to others and help planning here and there....and see all my fav LIWers get married.....but i admit...i don't spoooge anymore at favors and monograms. (okay well maybe my seats gets a little wet now and then...but that's just cause of melbalalala and her whore ways)
Ive been OUTED!!!!
Speaking of spooge.. Rescue Me is on tonight!! purrrrrrr!!!!

I'm happy there's a Newlywed's board cause I totally agree. I post on the '07 boards less now because some topics just don't 'excite' me anymore. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of a lot of the brides though and I'm looking forward to the future weddings we have coming up !! DH is happy we can just go and hang-out instead of the two of us always saying 'i don't want that at our wedding', etc.

Very Well Put from all of you great girls, I totally agree, I guess when you are a bride to be, life is quite different from all of us married woman...Your Focus changes totally, its strange, wierd, yet somehow surreal.....You cannot picture it or feel it until your wedding is over and you are back from your Honeymoon

haha!! omg sooo true! how many of us would attend weddings before ours and be pratically taking NOTES as to what we liked and didn't like and how it would go at ours??
when i was at heather (soontobemrsvpt)'s wedding--i was able to just enjoy myself and say 'wow we were married here a month ago and we don't have to worry about the details anymore'
i can't wait for Athee07's wedding on saturday cause i'm just gonna sit back, party and enjoy the reception!

Oh God, we did that ALL the time! We've been to two weddings since ours (plus, I was in three weddings in five years before that) and I've got to say that it's nice to actually be a guest at an event and not think about wedding stuff!

Re: Newlyweds vs. Brides to be! (confession to make)
I believe that everything posted on this thread is extremely valid.
As an early 07er (engaged in 2005) I can see myself getting less enthused about things as the year progresses. I
will though however say that I am saddened by the decline of 07ers on our board. The year is just a little more than half way over and I still have 5 months till my big day and I really wish the 07ers would stick around to see myself and the rest late 07ers through the end of the year (esp. since we have been there for everyone else)
Thanks Melissa for posting this- hopefully many brides, old time brides, brides-to-be, you name it, will understand a bit more.
I have to say though- I am totally looking forward to being a newlywed and having all of this planning DUNZO!

Re: Newlyweds vs. Brides to be! (confession to make)
I still check the 07 boards often, I just don't comment as much about things like favors and invitations anymore. Those things just seem like the least important parts of the day to me now that I've experienced it. Of course it seems like a bigger deal to those brides to be... every decision seems so monumental-like it is going to make or break the entire event and you hear the brides who have gone through it advising you that it will not matter on the day of your wedding if your BM's pedicures match or if you seat this one with that one, but you are not really listening because you have so many other thoughts swirling through your mind AND this sudden attention to detail may very well be a subconscious effort to distract yourself from the very fact that you are getting MARRIED and possibly moving out, changing the name you have owned for your entire life, joining two crazy families, working your fingers to the bone to pay for a PARTY...but I digress...
That being said, I still love looking at the 08 and 09 boards because they are still in the stages of picking out dresses and I looking at them. I love looking at all of the 07 wedding pictures and reading their reviews and can't wait to see all of the remaining summer weddings and then the move into fall and winter themes. There IS a change once the wedding is over, but nobody wants to take the fun away from the brides who are still planning and I think that is why this section of the site is so valuable.

I totally agree! Sometimes I just want to let everyone know that stressing over those things is just not worth it. But, you can't tell a bride to be something like that. I know I wouldn't have listened!
