would you be okay with getting pregnant? (If you are not currently TTC and it just happened?) I am not in this situation, but DH and I were talking about the whole 'what if'... This happened to friends of ours who were not planning on a baby anytime soon. They were shocked at first, but now are so happy! It seems like it was meant to be. How would you all take it?

Honestly - I would be very unhappy - we are not planning on children in the near future and I would not want that right now

I go back and forth on how I would feel too. I am probably giving it too much thought. But when you see a friend go through it, it makes you wonder. Thanks for answering so honestly.

Re: Now that you are married...
I am not sure how I would feel. We are not ready yet, but I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world. I want to travel more this year and then TTC.
We are thinking about TTC to next summer.

I agree. ideally we would like to have our own home and I don't really want to have a baby until we move back to the US....but I'm sure we would be very happy with the surprise.

I think I would go through a whole range of emotions. Right now I don't have a job and am looking. Being pregnant would throw me off track. I

Even though we would be shocked at first since we are not trying at all, I think then we would be happy about it. It's always the initial shock that throws people off I think.

Re: Now that you are married...
Christy--hey! To be honest...I wouldn't be happy. DH and I did not live together before marriage so we are truly in a great stage and just starting out. There is so much we want to do before even thinking of kids. That said, if it happened, it happened. We would be thrown off track but would embrace it, I am sure.

at this point, I think the only way we will ever be preggo is if it is a surprise. so I would be happy.

Me too. There is soo much I want to do before TTC. I just started school again while working full time, and I know if I did have a child before finishing my doctorate most likely I would not have the time to return to school. We also want to travel more, save more $ for a house, and enjoy not having that added responsibility. It honestly would make both of us so upset if it did happen at this point. I know it is not the right time for us. That said, we are still so incredibly careful with BC because I do NOT want to get PG that hopefully (knock on wood!) we will never have to deal with a surprise!

Re: Now that you are married...
Well...this is exactly what happened to us. We got back from the HM to find out only a few short weeks into our marriage that we were PG.
I'll be honest...neither one of us was happy about it. I cried for days. We weren't planning for children for several years, we also didn't live together before marriage and were so looking forward to that time together.
It's been a real rollercoaster of emotions for both of us trying to adjust to the reality that regardless of all our careful planning and prevention, we are going to have baby now, not later. Shock, confusion, excitement, happiness, depression, denial, sadness, fear have all been part of the process.
However, I trust that in end, when our son finally does arrive that somehow our questions will be answered, our fears will be calmed, and we will understand.
It's funny because whenever I hear of someone ELSE'S surprise PG I think it's WONDERFUL news, even if THEY don't think it is or feel they aren't in the best position. For them, I know it will be great... when it's you... it's a little different!
