would you be okay with getting pregnant? (If you are not currently TTC and it just happened?) I am not in this situation, but DH and I were talking about the whole 'what if'... This happened to friends of ours who were not planning on a baby anytime soon. They were shocked at first, but now are so happy! It seems like it was meant to be. How would you all take it?

Re: Now that you are married...
I think DH would be happier than I would. We just bought a house and I'd worry about bills too much. I would still be happy.
I wasn't planned, but my parents were married and they were thrilled. Mom says you are never ready. That's comforting!
BTW, I'm 30 and DH is 33. I'm not worried about age YET, but the clock is ticking.

Just a personal question for those of you who said you would not be happy because you plan to wait a while - how old are you? I only ask because right now I am sort of in the situation of not thinking this is the best time but, then I worry that I am going to be too old when it is the right time. I think if there are others out there that are my age and waiting it will make me feel better.
Oh, and, I'm 27 1/2.
I am nowhere near being ready for so many reasons! I am 26 and DH is 28. And based on my family history, my mom had me at 38, my aunt had my cousin at 40 and my grandmother had my mom into her 40s as well, and my cousin had her first at 42, I dont worry about having problems with age!

I would not be happy getting pregnant now. Sometimes I don't even know if I want kids at all because it's such a responsibility. But I'm only 25. It feels like a young age to me to be having a kid. I can barely take care of myself.

Re: Now that you are married...
Posted by nov04LIbride I'll be 27 in July, and want to wait until 32 to have my first. I'll be 29 when I finish my doctorate, which I definitely want to do before TTC. My mom had my brother at 31 and me at 34, and was so happy she waited. They traveled, went on vacation with friends, spent $ they didn't have once we came along, and my dad was able to finish his doctorate without taking out loans.
I could have written this! I'll be 27 in November (DH too) and I'm in grad school. I won't finish until I'm 28 1/2 and then I have 3,000 hours of working before I get my license, pushing 31. I want to do all of that without the burden of a baby - both financially and just responsibility-wise.
Pregnancy terrifies me more now than it ever did when I was younger (was 17 when I first started having sex). Partly because I obviously better understand the consequences but also because when you're young and unmarried, you sort of have choices if you get accidentally preggo. Now that we're married, really old enough, and pseudo-financially stable, there really aren't any choices - I get pregnant, we have a baby. It really freaks me out
