Our CA & NY Wedding and Receptions, Vegas Wedding and Tahiti Honeymoon!

Would you believe the wedding was over 6 months ago and i'm just posting pictures now! well here i go ...

Our parents are from India so we had a huge shindig that lasted way too many days. We're both Sikh and were married in a Sikh Gurdwara (temple).

The wedding and first reception were in Cali where i'm from and the second reception was in NY at the Huntington Townhouse. Then we went to French Polynesia for 11 days, and then off to Vegas for a few days to get married in a chapel for the helluvit

The thursday before the wedding was the sangeet/mehndi at our house. It’s when all the women basically come over (and some men) and there’s lots of singing of traditional old school songs and some dancing, as well as henna/mehndi being done on the women’s hands.

we decorated the house amazingly. lights all over the front of the house, long tulle fabric hanging from the ceiling. it was great.

these aren't professional pics.

i couldn't eat with the henna on my hands so my baby fed me

Friday was the sangeet from the guys' side. They had almost 100 people fly out from the East Coast. they were all at the same hotel and pretty much took over the hall at the hotel.

i was supposed to have orchids in my hair but the damn florist messed up and didn't have them in time. oh well.

this was the decoration we did about the family room. i loved it!

Can you explain the significance of the henna on your hands?

they are beautiful...the event you had on thursday...reminds me of the scene in Monsoon women when the women are singing...I wish I had a full weekend event!!!

hehe it was the same event .. that was the sangeet as well

oh and the henna - hehe im sorry to say that i don't really know what it signifies. it's just an old tradition that all women participate in at weddings. you're supposed to have your husbands name written somewhere within the henna and he has to find it .. that was fun

also they say the darker your henna is, the more your mother in law will love you
