time to move on to the reception

my colors were burgundy, gold and ivory. we had 390 people there and i had all the tables alternating burgundy and white. i was worried about how it would look but it was amazing! especially cuz the reception hall was like made for me cuz even the carpet incorporated my color theme.

me and my girls

instead of the usual chairs on the stage, we did an indian swing. it was so unique and gorgeous. on top of that the decorator i found was beyond amazing. just looking at the stage when i walked in made all the planning worth it

i got my awesome friend to play dhol for the entrances .. its normally a guy thing but i had to be unique hehe

the outside table which i loved decorating. it has our engagemnt party pic and pics of our parents weddings. and my regular guestbook along with my wishbowl.

OMG!! How gorgeous!!

The woman who owns the place where I get my eyebrows threaded is Indian, as well as most of her clientelle and if you go on the weekends, you usually see brides there getting all made up and ready for their wedding.. it is UNREAL!! Between the henna and all the jewlerly and the gorgeous fabrics. I wish I had to go through all of that!!!

my friends put together a skit that was like the story of our relationship. they wouldnt let me be a part of it. it had songs, dancing, acting .. my sister played me hehe.. she was seriously the star of the night hehe.

keep in mind our receptions are pretty different from the average american ones

one thing our friends bug us about the most -when joti and i first started talking he asked me what my favorite ice cream was randomly. the next day webvan delivered 2 pints of my faves .. hehe i miss those flirting days. here's my sister running off with 'joti' after he presents her with the ice cream

our cake was horrible. i used someone who was highly recommended on the knot. i gave her a picture of the exact design i wanted. it was very indian looking and so damn gorgeous. neways she screwed it up in SO many ways that when i walked in i thought the cakes got mixed up somehow and it wasnt mine. neways i got a good refund back buti was so pissed. please tell me how this orange piece of crap matches my wedding!!

btw, it doesnt look that bad but when you compare it to the pic of what its supposed to look like, you'll die laughing

one of my best friends sent me the prescious moments figurine so i had to put it somewhere special

there was also a dance that my sister and some of our friends did. it was to a medley of three indian songs that all had special meaning. again my sister was the star!

i did table names based on words like love, friendship, trust, harmoney etc. thank God i found a list of 40 somewhere!

I love all the beautiful saris worn by your family and guests. The vibrant colors look so great in the pictures.
