my parents asked dh to call them mom & dad because they wanted him to officially be a part of the family. I call mil by her first name, I want to call her Mom, but am embarassed to ask her if I can.

I already have a mom and 2 dads, lol.
When I HAVE to call them something (usually I just start talking, lol), then I call them by their first names.
DH calls my dads by their first names, but he always calls my mom 'ma' or 'mami' which is cute.

I do call his parents Mom & Dad, but it doesn't have the same meaning to me as when I call my own parents that, you know? DH calls my parents Mom and Dad also. We also call each others' aunts and uncles and grandparents with the titles, as well... example I call his relatives Aunt Fran & Uncle Carl, and he does the same with mine. It just feels natural... actually, I think I started doing that waaay before I began calling his parents Mom & Dad. It's weird though, b/c his dad won't call himself 'dad' to me, but his mom calls herself 'mom.' Ah well.

I call them mom and dad. I don't get to see them a lot because they live far but on the phone and emails its mom and dad (as well as in person)!
We see my parents a lot more and its so funny everytime DH calls them mom and dad! Its so cute but I do a double take everytime! I am just not used to hearing a man call them mom and dad - I am used to hearing a whiney girls voice (I am 1 of 3 girls)!
