pregnancy?

Original post by PKASHANSKY

Just curious...is anyone thinking of motherhood or is it way to early? I feel so old...I am 29 and I kind of think I am the mean age for marriage but if you think about it, they say pregnancy after 35 is harder. I feel like I am rushed now. Plus I dont want to be 80 at my childs graduation ; )

Age is a factor, but not always are you in tune with your clock. My doc says we will worry about it when we're ready. No pressure. Have them when you think you are ready.

I agree. I ask myself when will I be the best mother I know I can be, and for me that means putting my degree first for now. Who knows, people of 19 and 20 have trouble conceiving, while people of 35 often have no problems. Do what's right for you.

Re: pregnancy?

@ first we were going to wait a really long time. we are only 25, actually i'll be 25 in nov, dh just turned 25. we are sooooo young and just are having too much fun by ourselves! we'd like to travel and get a house first. BUT, we thought we were pregnant last week (turned out i wasn't ) BUT it really put a whole new perspective on it for us.....we were soooooooooo thrilled @ the idea, so if it happens, we're totally fine with it! I think it's great to wait though...it depends on the couple....

I am 30 and plan to wait another year before trying to get pregnant. My age is in the back of my mind, but I don't want to rush into anything. DH and I are still learning to be married and learning to live together.

We want to have at least one good vacation before we start a family (other vacations we were with family and I was sick on our HM).

Babies will change our lives and right now, selfishly, I love my life. I sometimes wonder if I'll ever be ready.......

I know how you feel...I am 30 and don't want to be an 'old' mother. But there is SO much I want to do right now b/f I even think about kids. Travel, tenure, etc. So we are planning to wait at least two years b/f trying!

I'm 28 and I think about it all the time. Sometimes I think 'I am ready' then I think 'I want a few more years' then I think ' maybe I dont want children'. AHHHHHHH!

DH will be 24 in a couple of weeks and I am only 22. Although children have been the topic of many conversations we have decided to wait until I am 25 before we start trying. By then we will hopefully be financially stable to think about expanding our family. As sad as it is, we have a 16 month pomeranian, Peanut, who we consider our daughter anyway.

I'm 28 and I don't anticipate being financially or emotionally ready for a few more years. I'm thinking like 5 more years maybe.

ditto!!

Re: pregnancy?

what? i thought it was after 30 that we lose eggs??!

I don't think it's too soon. It becomes harder and harder to have babies after the age of 25...we loose a ridiculous amount of eggs after the age of 25...there was a great article that I read about this and I can't recall where...I'll give it some thought and repost. I think the hardes thing is that we feel young and we have a lot of things on our plate like career, travel, marriage, but we have to remember that our bodies are on a different clock and sometimes we tend to forget about that. I personally don't want to have kids after 35..I want to be done and overwith because I still want to be a young mom and not have to deal with a toddler any later than that and also because I don't want to have difficulty getting pregnant.

for those who may not be ready to become parents and are afraid of losing eggs you could have them frozen. this option could practically guarantee you having a baby that's made up of your dna. something to think about maybe?

But this article claims it's from the 20's!

See, I've been fertile since I was 9. Who knows, maybe my best years for conceiving were from 10-13--doesn't mean I am going to have a baby then...You need to do what is best for you--when you can be the best parents you can be...Even if I lost out on my best reproductive years, I don't regret for a second waiting until I am older.

i'm 29 (since yesterday). altho i pride myself for thinking and being responsible in the past i have that feeling of regret... in a way. i missed my chance of having a baby. instead i would have to depend on other women to donate their eggs to compensate for my shortcomings.

I am 27 right, DH is 29, this has been brought up time and again, 5 yrs until we start trying at least. I realize not only are we not finiancially ready I am at a selfish stage in my life so until I get through no babies.

Re: pregnancy?

it's a big step for everyone i think.

for us, it's harder because we 'feel' young. we're the ONLY married couple between our friends, and it's not like we're young. i'm 26 and he's turning 29 tomorrow. i know it's not the best of reasons for ME, but i want my kids to grow up with friends their own age.. and we wnat to buy a house first.. but the market is soooo expensive right now. don't know, will there ever be a right time? i ust don't want it too be too late too.. *****.

Re: pregnancy?

Well, I'm 38 and he's 42, so we really shouldn't wait much at all, from a purely biological standpoint.

I just got a new job though, and I would like to be in that at least 6 months or so before we start trying. Plus, I have some health issues that might complicate pregnancy, and we have an appt. to consult a doctor about that.

If we were younger, in our late 20s or early 30s, we would definitely be happy waiting a few years before trying. At this point, we really don't have that luxury.

So, we'll probably start trying next spring, not quite a year since we married by then.

these are my thoughts exactly.

DH however, has been pretty obvious about the fact that he wants to have a family like, today. I try to simmer him down a little with the usual - WE NEED A HOUSE FIRST. Which lasts for a good week, until he starts talking about names and starting every other sentence with 'when we have kids....' It's really cute! And REALLY scary!

When did it become okay to have kids? I spent the first 29-30 years of my life trying NOT to have any kids...this is all new

Re: pregnancy?

Its so great that you posted this because I was just coming on this site to see what others were thinking.
I am very confused myself.
I am 25, almost 26 and I just started my MBA program. Since I am going part time, it will take me at least 3 years to finish. I would really like to wait till I graduate to have a baby. But, that would put me at 29. And than, who knows.. how long it will take to conceive? Plus, if I have 2 boys.. I would want to try for a third. That means I probably wouldn't be able to have 3 kids, plus, I really wanted to be younger when pregnant.. I saw such a huge difference between being pregnant at 29 than 26! Im so confused! As you can see. I guess this is the way the train of life is moving, I just don't think I am very happy about it!
Its so much better being a man!!!
In terms of my 'lifestyle' I am definately 'ready' for a baby. We already traveled a lot to europe and everywhere we want to go, and we aren't much to partying either. So.. other than the school...
DH is ready, but, thinks I should do what I think is best for me.
