At what age do you think you will talk to your children about the birds and the bees? The guy on this morning was originally saying he'd talk to his daughter at age 14-15 and they were all like NO that is way too late!!!
I am thinking around 10 or so. I know some girls get their period when they are like 8! And wasn't there some news story about an 8-year-old who was pregnant?! I think 8 might be a bit young to have the chat, but 10 is a good age I think.

Re: Q of the D
Im not really sure of an exact age but as early as possible! I think its so important that parents talk to kids about this. I want to have really open lines of communication regarding sex- as awkard as it may be

Re: Q of the D
Don't childrens curiousity usually find them asking that question at a very young age anyway???? I will tell my child when they ask me if they are still very young, or I will tell them when they are about 7/8. I would like to think that any child I have wont have sex or think about sex until they are 30 lol but, with the things that they see in the media, things that their friends tell them and just plain old curiosity, I think they need to understand at an earlier age than we all did.

Re: Q of the D
my mother talked to me when I was very young and I think that's the way to go. It's good to know what's going to happen with your body in the next few years and to know what's up with sex and where babies come from. lol. I can't remember EXACTLY how old I was though. Pretty young - like maybe 2nd or 3rd grade? And i thought sex was the GROSSEST THING EVER!!!!!
I just think it's not good to wait until a child is already 10 to tell them about it. Especially if they go to a public school where children are talking about crap like this at such a young age. If they're being home schooled though, then that's a whole other story. For me, personally, I'm determined to make sure my kids go to a Private School like I did (as long as we have the money to provide it)
ETA - my mother just basically told me about sex when I ASKED her about it. I was curious how it worked and all of that. She never lied or danced around the subject. She just sat me down and explained. I love that we had that kind of relationship where i could be comfortable enough to ASK her something and not be awkward about it. I plan to be that way with MY children. When they ask, that's when they're old enough to know (depending on the child of course).
