Seems that some of us are 'old'

Original post by michele31

It feels weird sometimes when I visit the BHB and see new names. I used to know everyone on the board. I used to know about everyone's plans and dreams. We all supported each other and honestly, there was not too much 'drama'. Sometimes we disagreed, sometimes we agreed. In the end, nothing got very personal. And especially if one of us was pi$$ed at a vendor. The bride was NEVER personally attacked because of that.
What makes me really sad is the fact that some of the 'new' brides will almost attack one of 'us' because we post something they do not agree with. It really upsets me that Stef was so attacked because she posted that she didn't agree with something a vendor did. Of course, that could happen to ANY of us. I almost don't want to go to the BHB anymore. Why share and help when you will just be attacked so quickly if you don't like something?

So to my Newlywed friends...thank you, thank you, thank you. I don't know how active I would have been on this board if I just started posting today. It is because of all you....the girls I planned side by side with, that I have formed so many true friendships.

Okay Suzanne. That’s cool. Point taken.

But please stop posting on this topic over here. We were having a discussion newlywed style. I will refrain from posting on this topic any further – and I am sure the rest of the girls here will agree…because the negativity is present and it’s quite frankly a little much for all of us

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

Suzanne - you have made your point abudantly clear.

I am not welcome to show an idea unless I want a vendor to take it and do whatever they want with it.

I am not allowed to feel upset unless it is convienent for everyone else. And if I do feel upset, other girls on this board can name call, make little innuendos, start way too many uncessary threads about the topic and generally attack me without consequences because I dare mention how I feel.

This seems to be the new 'rules' of this board and MOST people here seem a-ok with it.

Point taken Jenny, I WILL STOP posting on the newlywed board from now on..

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

Suzanne, hon, you are completely missing the point...as did everyone else who jumped on the bandwagon in this argument. Stef never said Curly did anything wrong here. Her issue was with LA Productions, and it was a simple issue of respect.

I'm not going to go any further with this because it's beating a dead issue. I just think that the crap that Stef received because of this issue was very indicative of the direction these boards are heading, and if they turn out anything like what The Knot has become, I'm outta here!

cant this just die? but suzanne you are a newlywed
we all should just let this issue die
Stef and karina really both did nothing wrong(just were expressing there feelings) Four or five threads on the same thing was pretty ridicuolous though..... and I understand why each of them are upset
some of the comments from brides like the poof thing were childish so I can understand her being annoyed but is this thing going to go on forever?

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

I haven't posted on this whole thing because I believe that if you aren't directly involved in a problem and can't help to solve it than you are only adding to it.

Having said that - I am not ok with name calling and the aggression that some people have on the boards these days. I thought we all left high school immaturity and cliques behind us years ago.

My point is I hope some people won't leave the boards because of this.

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

Ok..I'm going to chime in on this one.
Suzanne agreed that the name calling was childish and uncalled for. And I agree with that as well.
The internet is a resource-as is this board. We all came on here to have our questions answered, ideas shared and such.
Stef felt she was being attacked and she has every right to be upset about it--I would too. But..we need to remember what this site represents. It's a public forum and we're all here to share ideas-whether it be on the newlywed side or BHB side.
Please-let's not be so harsh on each other.

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

Michelle, I can see why you would boycott the BHB side, since some brides came right out and said NWs don't belong there (which I totally disagree with). I also think that name calling is always inappropriate. But I hope you will still offer advice to those of us, like myself, who will come here seeking it.

Especially, since I am sure I will have a ton of questions for you about the Hamlet as my date draws closer

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

I have holded off posting on this thread because my feeling run along the lines of Suzanne’s and I knew they wouldn’t be appreciated by on this thread. Personally, I think this thread is just adding is asking to bring the drama/controversy to the NW board and I typically don’t like to be involved with the “drama”. At the same time this thread hasn’t sit well with me and I feel the need to respond.

I do agree the board has changed over the last 6 months. I do not remember as much drama/bickering but I do remember we were not without. This is a board where we all share opinions and ideas and as to be expected we will find people who agree/disagree and get offended. As the site grows in popularity and usefulness, more people will find this board and there will be a lot more members. It is only expected to find more of this stuff going on. The board is full of many woman under a lot of wedding planning stress who all feel differently on the various subject matters and some of which get offend more easily than others. Do I think that it is necessary? NO but I think that it is part of being in this community. I think the issue is that people do not let these dramas die, take sides publicly and they get out of hand. In turn, many people get hurt.

I think in this case there are three parties who have been hurt Stef, Curly and LA Productions. I think all three have the right to feel hurt, offended or whatever the case may be…and we all have our opinions of who is right and who is wrong…but let’s end it.

Personally, I will continue to be apart of the BHB board because I think there is a lot more good there than bad and one day I want them to feel welcome on this NW board. I will continue to share my ideas and only can help that I am helping others making their wedding experience be as wonderful as mine.

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

Becky...You've made a interesting point...if we are attacked (regardless of what the topic is...or whether we share the same opinions...or are even wrong)...why should we offer opinions?

I don't think it matters the topic of the thread...just that people are so quick to attack, get defensive and just be plain mean!!

I'm all for people disagreeing, but we should be respectful...

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

I want to make this very clear: I HAVE NO PROBLEM is someone disagrees with me! In fact, I have posted numerous times in the past about having mature conversions about disagreeing is what makes this board great.

If everyone would recall, all I posted at first was that I was upset that the program design was used without my permission. I honestly thought that the comment would be the end of it. But that comment started on the name calling and questioning if my program design was original in the first place and then people saying I shouldnt dare post my feelings, etc.. Which then turned into Curly and Radiostar posting NEW threads about how terrible I am etc...

If anyone thinks its about money - think about it - does anyone really think that the little $ I could possibly make from this particular thing is going to upset me one way or the other? If anyone thinks its about credit - think about it - LA Productions could STILL take credit for it no matter what I say, its not going to upset me one way or the other. What upsets me is that so few people have even said something like 'stef has helped us out before, lets just respect her opinion' and leave it at that. Is it really too much to ask for people to respect my opinions after being around for so long?

I know everyone wants to let this die but please understand how frustrating it is when you go out of your way on many occassions to help some people and then you get comments like 'poof be gone' from those same people! I know if I saw that happen to one of the girls who helped ME so much all along I would be just as outraged as I am right now.

I told my husband about what happened and he said 'why do care about these people anyway?' I dont know why I care but I just do. I realize now that I must detach myself from the whole thing but I think its a very sad day.

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

I started this thread because someone told the NW's to 'poof be gone'. Again, this had NOTHING to do with who was right/wrong/indifferent about the other situation. It has to do with the fact that people do not seem to be able to disagree without hurting someone's feelings. I get enough $rap from people in the real world (aka LIRR, Subway, My crazy b_tch Aunt) that this board is a support for me. But when people start to make you feel bad and you get personally attack then that support goes away. This thread was about that and if you notice almost all of us were able to see that.

Editted to say: Stef Never let a few rotten eggs (or brides) ruin the joy of our site. In the end, we will be the ones still friends and the name-calling people will be gone. You DO have our suport for how you feel.

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

Stef- I and I think everyone here says they understand why you were upset and annoyed
I said to let it die b/c it cant go on forever and I think now some things people say are getting misunderstood, like suzanne thinking she cannot post here, etc.....

I think you have helped many people on here and BHB and that it is childish to post things like POOF BE GONE and as I told michele if people dont have something nice to say they just shouldnt say it but some people like to start trouble/drama and have acted immaturely but that doesnt mean this issue should go on and on and on
but I and I do others understand why you are upset

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

Stef, part of me really wants to tell you to post what you just wrote on the BHB board, because I have been trying to beat it into people's heads how horrible it was to call into question your orginiality, creativity...and everything else those !@$$ did over there to you for NO REASON...but I guess it would just start everything all over again, because there are so many people on this site that just DON'T LISTEN.

Edited to take out my reference to one of my other posts..to avoid drama.

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

I have not posted ONE single comment since Friday b/c I was hoping this would die as well.

Stef- I have NEVER and will never personaly attack you or any other member of this board. If you go back and research ALL 'drama' filled topics you will NOT find my name in any of them b/c I do not participate in this type of thing. It is ironic that you think I would do that. In fact, the main reason why this started was because I think (and still do) that you are FULL of creative ideas and have helped many people (there is no question abut that). That is why I wanted to shape my program similar to yours. My wedding day will be a joyous occasion and the planning (up until now) has been truly fun but I no longer feel comfortable on this site. My main disagreenment with you was that I felt I was able to do whatever I wanted with the ideas that I gathered ont his board. I never said 'poof be gone' and other similar quotes. I cannot dictate what people want to say about a topic. And for the record I never ASKED anyone to start any threads pertaining to this. Poeple have expressed their feeling and I appreciate all the support but I don't like this drama AT ALL.

Sorry to all parties involved.

I know most of the posts with my name attached to it cause fire, but I have to say this..

Stephanie doesn't know me from a HOLE in the wall and she is always willing to help me even with my stupid repetitive questions on things...

I think the girl is a CREATIVE QUeen, and if I was her I wouldn't let anyone step all over me either.

I LOVE when the NEWLYWEDS post their suggestions bc they HAVE BEEN THERE AND DID IT ALREADY!!

I think you see alot of true colors when things like this happen...

Steph go into business on the side get inc.ed.

Its only 140 bucks and then if someone uses your idea you are able to take legal action.
And Never stop posting.. I love to hear what you have to say .. As much as I might not always agree its still nice to hear someone that isn't saying..

OOOHHH ahhh That is great..

Re: Seems that some of us are 'old'

Once again, like many others I have read all these posts holding off on posting myself in order to save some drama. Although now its getting ridiculous. ALL points are taken, they are all taken well. Once again, opinions differ. People will take other peoples sides according to that. Its just life. We come here (well I know I do) to escape the fast every day life that we are ALL exposed to each and every day to slow down and enjoy a bit with people who are all in somewhat the same stages of life. Not for this drama. I understand where both girls who this directly involve are coming from and I also understand stating posts based on our opinions...but for this to keep going for days and days and now brought on to the other side is ridiculous.

Stef was obviously upset, thats her right to feel that way. Curly obviously didnt do anything wrong, its her right to feel that way. The company itself is where I think any problem (if there is one) lies. Why bring it here and ruin the very place which brings all of us some sort of peace and solace...obvisouly it does or else we wouldnt all continue to be here.

We are all wonderful in our own ways and we need to recognize that this is the computer and sometimes our thoughts, opinions or ways of speaking do not come across the way they should. I just think that we should all take a step back from this. We are not going to get everyone to agree so in actuality this can go on forever. Just realize that people were hurt for different reasons and thers no need to cause any more. If anything let the original ladies that this post actually involves resolve this.

I love coming here and since I have been married, I have enjoyed moving over to the newlywed board. I also enjoy helping brides to be on the bhb board....I know none of us want to leave this community in any way but I also know that I dont want this drama every day. I hope things get better and that the original posters on this are ok...becuase i think that you are BOTH wonderful woman!
