SHE HATES ME!

Ok, now I know that my mother-in-law and I dont have the greatest relationship. I mean, I really dont care for her, but always put a smile on my face and keep my mouth shut. But now she has just gone too far.

We got the proofs back from the wedding, and she came over to pick out the ones she wanted for her Parent Album. Also, she wanted to have a picture blown up to 11x14. So she chose to have a family picture enlarged. She chose the photo of her family (her, her husband, my husband and her other 2 childred) - I AM NOT IN THE PHOTO. Now she had 2 photos in her hand, one with me in and one without me in it.. and she turns to me and says 'I want this one' and hands me the photo with me missing.

When I told my husband, he flipped out and called her to see if maybe she made a mistake (I did not want him too, but he was way upset). She said 'no, I didnt make a mistake. I just want a photo of my family'.

This is really really bugging me and my husband. He is very upset. He told me that I dont have to call her mom anymore, and I am not. She totally disrespected me.

Any comments/advise?

OMG...I'm so very sorry. This has not only got to be upseting, but very hurtful too.
I really do not know what to say.... Thankfully your Husband sees what she did was wrong. His support in this is very important.

I can totally relate so first here's a big hug We gave our proofs to MIL to pick out pics for her album. Well she got to pick 24 pics and I was in one of them, yup that's right one! I wish I was kidding but she picked every single picture of her and her husband (DH's father is deceased this is his stepfather) and the remainder of the pics were her children -i was in one. She's a horror

its so good your husband understands and is upset too. you guys are a team and you will get through any crap she throws at you.

Unfortunately you cannot change her, you can only change how you respond to her. Maybe try explaining how hurt you were when she did that - you probably won't get the response you want, but you will have communicated your feelings and that is all you can do. Just remember you are so much more sane and caring and mature than she will ever be. I'm so sorry and hang in there!

Yea, I can relate.

But, I wouldn't print her pictures I would put her selections away and enter your order in first. Then AFTER your book comes in, I would bring it over and show it off. Then let her questions and be sad about not getting her album.

THEN, I would conveniently forget to put the order in for the enlargement. Why do YOU have to pay for a picture of HER family that were at YOUR wedding?! Pics that size are not cheap!

OMG, That is absolutely awful!!! How evil.... It is a wedding... not a 'family' photo op. You are there to celebrate family with you an an addition. You are now that 'family' to which she is referring! I honestly would be p&ssed!!! I would keep my mouth shut though...

DH should handle it and handle it good! It is not your fight. It is his..... When I have a prob with my inlaws, DH handles it. When he has a problem with my parents, I handle it!!
