So we all had fabulous weddings, this we know!

Besides the regular wedding stuff (actually getting married, the ring exchange, first kiss, the dress, dance ect) what were some events/conversations that happened at your wedding that you will never forgot? You know the ones that pop up and make you smile every time you think of them?

LOL one of my dad's co-workers who is about 85 got drunk, grabbed onto me and told me I had to have a seat and talk to him...Then he proceeded to forget where his table was...Then he said to me, slurring his words, if only I was 60 years younger, you'd be with me, not him, right?

Two things
First, the priest that did our mass is a very close friend of mine. I told him why I chose the readings I did, b/c I thought it might help him write the homily. During the homily, he made some personal remarks about our friendship and got very choked up and nearly cried. It was very touching, but I had to not look at him for a little while, or I would have lost it.

Second, towards the end of the reception, one of my friend's husbands came up to me and asked me if I remembered having a serious conversation with him after his mom died (prob. about 6 years ago). I said yes and he told me that it was at that point he considered me a good friend, rather than just one of his wife's crazy HS friends. I was very touched, and it was an unexpected compliment.

My nephew who is 4 started the day a bit grouchy because he was woken up too soon from his nap. By the middle of the reception, he was running around asking anybody and everybody for quarters because there was a Souvenir penny machine. It was just too cute.

My little niece was absolutely adorable. But the one thing that really stands out is watching my father and my 12 year old niece dance the night away. They were like Fred and Ginger.

My dad hired a Cher impersonator. So I will always remember my Dad and uncle dressing in drag and singing and dancing with the Cher impersonator and my Godfather getting dressed and singing 'I Got You Babe' wih the Cher impersonator. Also, my uncles and the best man taking off their shirts and dancing like they were chipandales.

I will always remember walking around with DH and hearing bits of people's conversations...people talking about my dad, who died 4 years ago...and how special our relationship was and how they could just feel his presence and love for me....my DH would just squeeze my hand and whisper to me that he feels him too.

It was really touching.

There are a bunch of them!

Here's one. I had the DJ play 'Once Upon a Dream' from Sleeping Beauty during dinner. It's been my favorite movie since I was 8 or 9. Since it's my favorite, it's also my 6 & 3 yr old nieces favorite too (and I, from time to time, pick them up and sing the song as we dance around).

When the song started playing I went and got them and only the three of us danced to it. After it was done, I showed them back to their table. After I was eating for a couple minutes, I looked over at the 3 yr old and saw that she was staring at me with this glazed over, dreamy look. I smiled and waved at her and she perked up, smiled really big and waved a lot. It was SO cute!

It was like a fairy tale to her! I was SO glad I did it!

Our best man said during his speech that he will now step down as Rob's best friend (they have been BF since they were kids) and give that title to me...it was really cute and very touching.

* Watching DH's grandmother being carried out on a stretcher as they opened the doors for me to walk down the aisle. My walk down the aisle was a blur of me trying to figure out what was going on. Her heart rate was down to 37 beats per minute, we thought she was dying, but she's OK. Got a pace maker a few weeks ago and is as good as new.

* Realizing half way through the reception that my grandfather was missing and the cops were scouring the hospitals/highways for him. Turns out he got lost & frustrated and just went home (to conneticuit!). He's 83 and drives a brand new PT Cruiser ... time for the cruiser to be put in the garage pops!

* DH's 2-year old nephew screaming 'Aunt Essssssa, you are beautiful' & 'Uncle Geg, Hiiiiiiiiii' throughout our entire ceremony, it was hysterical.

* Finding out a friend was pregnant

* Watching everyone on the dance floor at one point just going NUTS to the music they were playing. It was the scene I wanted to capture in my mind forever. Just everyone having a blast.

We truly had many memorable moments , (outside of the normal wedding ones) that I'd be here all day writing about them.

Both DH's brother (his best man) and my brother (a groomsman) both gave such great speeches - lots of 'baseball' references in both speeches, which to US was awesome bc as everyone knows DH and I 'met' over our disagreements in which is the better NY baseball team .. So they were really funny, not too mushy, but really moving -- the type of speeches that everyone talks about long after the wedding is over..

That and the moment when DH's aunt did some seriously 'dirty (but innocent) dancing' with one of the DJ's dancers ... it was classic and everytime I see one of the pics I totally LOL

One of the best parts for me was before the wedding. My MOH (who was my aunt) and my grandmother were still at the place getting hair and make up done, but my mom and I hurried back because the photographer would be getting there soon. Sure enough we pulled into the driveway at the same time as the photographer. I had wanted to wait for my aunt to do some getting ready pics, but the photog told me that they would recreate it anyway and that I should just put my dress on. So my mom and I went into my brother's old room with the door closed and she helped me into my dress. As she pulled the zipper up, it just hit me and I said 'Mommy, you just zipped up my wedding dress!' and then she cried and kissed me. IT was a very touching moment

I should preface the rest by saying that A LOT of people were drunk at our wedding My dad's cousin's wife fell on the floor probably 3 times!!! His cousin (a guy!) kept kissing him...finally my dad was like Will you stop kissing me!!!

My best friend broke the handle for the faucet in the ladies' room...and took it with her because she didn't know what else to do with it! (we were supposed to get it as a gift for our first anniversary, but she forgot)

The bartender in Billies in Port Jeff wouldn't let us pay for any drinks when we went in in our full gear post wedding!

I just remembered another one. During our mass, at the sign of peace, when I stepped down from the altar to share the sign of peace with the family, my 5 y.o. niece said to me 'Aunt ___, I like your dress!!'

Before the wedding, one of my SILs came to a dress fitting, and her 4 y.o. son came with us. When I came out of the fitting room, he said, 'you look like a fairy!' Some of the funniest comments were the kids'

One more for me...The officiant started listing all the things that DH should respond 'I do' to...He listed like 5 things at a time, but DH got so excited he said 'I DO!' after the first one instead of waiting....It was so cute, and the officiant laughed and said you can say I do as much and as often as you want to.

That is so sweet. It made me tear up.

Funny things:

As per out request, the priest told everyone to turn off their cell phones!

Ringbearer (DH's nephew) had been coaxed down the aisle with pez and hot wheels. When he had eaten all the candy and had the toys, he told us his job was done. Best Man had to get the rings from him for the ring exchange.

DH is about 8 inches taller than me (not as bad as some couples here, but significant). When we kissed, I stepped up two steps on the altar to be eye to eye. The crowd roared.

At the reception, instead of dancing with my brother, my brother played a few songs with the band (the bandleader and keyboard player were both musician friends of my dad and brother). Everyone gathered around him and screamed and jumped up and down. It was like being in a bar in college all over again. Even my somewhat uptight BIL and his uptight friend were screaming and dancing. Everyone let loose.

Matron of Honor and I danced the Tarantella and an Italian medley, twirling napkins in the air!

I have a couple. My dad's eyes aren't so great and he and my mother were supposed to walk me down the aisle, lift my veil, and then kiss me and DH. Well when my dad got to the end of the aisle, the light from the videographer blinded him and he completely froze. lol!
At the end of our ceremony instead of placing the glass on the ground for DH to step on, the rabbi kind of threw it at him and my MIL moved to get out of the way and had to jump back off the chuppha and onto the sand. lol!
And my favorite one from the ceremony... when DH and I went to walk back up the aisle my parents were right behind us and my dad trampled all over my train. At first I quietly turned around and was like 'dad, you're stepping on my train.' Every time I would step, he would step right on my train. I yelled back at him the whole way up the aisl to the point where I was like, 'DUDE, GET OFF MY TRAIN!!!' My friends were hysterical.

ETS- I have a couple more. One of my BM did the deed with one of the GM after the wedding.
My FSIL dressed like a hooch for my wedding. That's not one that I smile at, but it's one I will never forget.

That my BEST MAN (dh's cousin) got busy with one of my friends from College.

And that a drunk groomsman told another groomsman's girlfriend that her boobs looked nice.. There was almost a brawl at my wedding and I didn't even know it!

Oh, this is fun!!!

-getting up to the altar and the first thing out of my mouth to DH was Happy Birthday (it was his birthday). Then I kept talking to him, and he finally goes, 'I have a microphone on'
I was like

-I got DH a suprise grooms cake for his reception, and I had them announce that we were going to cut our cake, but then the band started to sing Happy birthday, I love the look on his face, then they brought the cake out, I can't wait to watch it on the video!!

-One of my BM was a little drunk and as she and my MOH made it out to the dance floor, BM slipped and fell on her a$$.
-Another BM was dancing, twirling, not sure, and her dress came down a little and her boob popped out I wish I saw both those things!!!!

* My BIL passed out in the lobby of the reception hall in front of the coat check room, then woke up and threw up all over the place. The hall was VERY unhappy with him and requested his immediate removal from the premises.
