Trust me, after being married 5 years the novelty of 'oh go shopping dear' wears off. You'll see, buy it 'cash' keep it in the trunk a while, and bust it out when he's not home. If he questions it, simply answer 'I had it, what are you the fashion police?' When we first got married, went on shopping sprees at Roosevelt Field which was down the block from my office. I did some real damage in an hour lunch break...trust me. I learned this from other friends who were married longer than me and I was like 'oh my god, how can you lie, and live like that?' Now I know better..lol

FH & i have shared credit cards & bank accounts for about six months. we are on a serious budget due to our upcoming wedding & our new house.

i have a shopping problem. i admit it. i buy too much. i always buy on sale, but i shop way too often. some clothes, lots of shoes, and tons of stuff for the house. when i was single, this wasn't an issue. i had very few financial responsibilities & i always paid my CC bills on time & in full. however, being on a strict budget AND FI knowing about every dime i spend has been a major issue for us. we have very very little extra money to spend on shopping now. this has been the hardest thing for us to deal with. but, its still new for us & we're working on it. its important for both of us to be comfortable with the situation.

i think finances are a major issue with many couples.

We just have a joint account to save $ for the wedding and our house and we keep the rest of our own $. It works out better that way so I can spend my own $ and he can also.
