I have been thinking about this alot lately - not because I want a baby yet but I just want to know if we can make it with me staying at home when we do have a baby.
Anyway does anyone know how much 1 baby costs? I found this website and with daycare I got an estimated $12K a year!!!! YIKES! That is just for the first year!
they cost A LOT and i feel like they get more and more expensive the older they get
ugh i hope i win mega millions LMAO

Yeah those little things are pretty expensive. And just when I thought I would have one just as an accessory. Oh well I guess a girl can dream...

Thank you for posting this.
Everytime I get a little baby fever, I will revert back to this lol
I don't have 20,000 a year to begin with. I don't even have 10,000 a year extra to put aside. I could not afford a baby right now hahaha

That's way to much. No baby for us anytime soon. LOL. Don't want to make the kid starve.

that looks like a pretty good site if you can figure out the right amounts to use - the pre-sets they had for furniture and stuff were really low - when i looked at furniture when my niece and nephew were born it was a lot more expensive than what i saw there....i remember the cost being a few thousand but she probably went high end on furniture and bedding.....
i hear that if you work your taxes right it helps a lot - but i'm not really sure what the hell people are talking about when they tell DH about what to do when the time comes....i guess when it comes to claiming dependents and right offs and whatever....

I'm choosing not to feed the baby that often and I dont think clothes are a necessity the first year

Re: Spinoff - Baby Costs
i'm on babycenter all the time and never did this. my baby will cost $7,864, but that's because i put 0 for daycare. we're hoping MIL and FIL will watch the little one - we know she wants to! if not, the total is $12,472.

Totally agree. Even furnishing our apartment and fixing things up here costs a lot of money. EVEN having a puppy costs a lot of money lol I can't imagine having a kid with all this going on.
I would need 3 jobs.

some women breastfeed for over a year just to save on baby formula. You can cut your costs that way..lol I don't think I can put up with fluids coming out of my tata's more than 3 months 6 max!

it def saves! my SIL was going to try doing that but her baby has acid reflux and has to come off breastmilk soon and go on a special forumla...the special formula is super $$$
i was reading up on 'green' diapers - you know, like cloth diapers!! supposed to save you $$ and be good for the environment but i dont know if i could handle that
