I WANT to believe there is an afterlife but I'm not sure, just the way I'm not sure if Ieven believe in God!

I must say that if anything- we are in HELL now!!

I dont really know if I believe there is a heaven-I do think we all go somewhere-where that is I dont know. I also definitely think that you stay around after you are gone...im sure there will be lots of thoughts on that-I definitely think your spirit stays.

So I'm not alone!! But the fact of the matter is I NEVER had an amazing faith!! I wet through a phase where I didn't believe in ANYTHING at all but as time has passed and as I've gotten older I'm starting to question it more!! I'm soooo confused!!

Re: the afterlife

i have a strong faith in God...but not so much in religion...i beleive there is an afterlife...especially because i have dreams about dead people alot...and in my dreams i know they are dead so it feels more like a visitation...i also saw my grandmother's ghost in my parent's house after she died...sitting on the couch where she always sat...i also have a huge belief in ghosts...which makes me believe we exist after death...just in a different form...I also think watching John Edwards (the psychic...not the Democrat) has just reinforced this belief.

Re: the afterlife

you are NOT alone. Vin had a great faith in HS and thankfully that is what kept him alive.. long story.... now though, since everything happened with my mom (6 years now) he strongly questions everything. Some nights he doesnt even get sleep! Its so sad. You can tell he wants to believe, but he is such a scientific thinker and it makes him question everything

Re: the afterlife

ok now its my turn. I may ramble- very moving, keep reading

my mom died 6 years ago
my sorority sister died 5 years ago.

Jan 4, 2003 my sorority sister Charmaine had a dream my mom came to her and told her to come with her. Charmaine said that my mom came to her window all dressed in white and was floating. She said that my mom said 'I'm here to get you. Come with me, you will be safe' Charmaine said 'no, i have to stay here' my mother then said to her ' I WILL come back for you. You will be safe, I will meet you and take care of you'. then my mom left..

fast forward exactly 1 month, Charmaine was driving to a recruitment event and a car hit the median and flipped over on top of her car. The driver was headed west bound on the Jackie Robinson, Charmaine was headed east. It was a total freak accident.

I totally believe in the afterlife. I have a very strong faith. Where do we go? I dont know. I do know your spirit stays. I believe in a heaven- just dont know what that is though. Faith is the belief in the unknown, still believing in that which you can not explain.

I truly believe that there must be something better than this suffering and hardship we often face. I believe our spirit lives on in some form with those that have passed before us. I do believe that your soul has a chance to come back- semi reincarnation- in order to better itself.

I live for John Edward & Sylvia Brown. Her books especially have given me a new insight into my faith. Great books if I do say so myself!

Re: the afterlife

I always believed that once you are gone you are gone-unless there was something you had to do....a family members wedding, christening, stuff like that.

Now DHs best friend (supposed to be his best man) we picked our date...5/6/06...due to drama we changed it to 5/11/07-for whatever reason this date kept creeping into my mind and we both agreed-DHs BF died 2 months later on may 11th 2006 so of course we changed the date.

I had a really hard time with his friends passing bc I knew him but didnt know him like I know the rest of DHs friends now. So it hurt me bc I lost out of KNOWING him. During the 2 weeks we were here in NY we bought DHs best friends car-it was brand spankin new and we were looking to buy a car. I consider that my 'connection' to him (I know cheesy-but there is a point I swear) About a year later I got rear ended by a suburban in SC. I freaked, I wanted NO ONE to know that someone had hit Erics car...so ILs and DH swore we wouldnt tell anyone. Erics mother went to see a median-thinking nothing of it. The median told her there was an accident in the car and Eric wanted her to know it was something to laugh about. She came home and told EVERYONE that this median was full of it, etc. etc....her jaw hit the floor when she had this convo with DH and I bc we both went white and had to tell her about it.

One night I was watching John Edwards (he ceases to amaze me) and I went to bed, they had a woman on who had lost her son and it really pulled at my heart and made me think of Eric. I went to sleep-DH was away so i was ALONE!!! Shortly after I lay down-right before falling asleep I heard 'good night' and felt a hand touch my cheek.......and I didnt freak, it was almost a calming thing. The next morning I was alittle bugged out at the fact that it didnt scare the crap out of me.

I really feel that your spirit stays with those who love you. I think that you find a way to come back and let those people understand that it is ok, life goes on and you are ok. We both have lost friends and family and I would love for them to still be here today-BUT I feel that wherever they are is better. I heard a song ( a million years ago) and it made me truly believe that you are in a better place. I was always raised that you are put here for a reason-and once you have accomplished that goal-God takes you back. Ready or not.

Re: the afterlife

I believe that heaven is real. To me our lives just wouldn't make any sense if it really ends completely when we die. I feel that our soul continues to live on in some form & that we can be with our loved ones & with God after we die. But even though I believe that, I still have a tremendous fear of death & fear of the unknown.
I read a book called '90 Minutes in Heaven' by Don Piper & it is so interesting... I definitely recommend reading it, especially someone who's struggling with whether or not to believe. It helped me feel better about these things.

Re: the afterlife

I believe in an afterlife and I believe in a heaven.

I believe my angels are watching over my family and myself and taking care of us everyday. I believe once you hit heaven you have peace and tranquility in your life.

I do believe that everyone has their own vision of heaven.
