All i can say is WELCOME TO THE

UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF AMERICA!

I'm sorry, I can't sit on this. This is really such an incredible blanket statement. Look, if we have differing opinions, I think that's great - that's America! I am more than open to a thoughtful and intelligent debate. But this blanket statement really reeks of someone who is not informed and is regurgitating ideas they heard on Fox News.

Like I said, I am not informed enough to formulate an educated opinion on this - so I didn't. I also didn't make a crazy blanket statement, either.

I didnt want to start drama but I have to agree!

I would have to agree that this is a bit of an over dramatization...but Vicki, you are not alone in feeling those sentiments. I disagree and that is ok!

Hey no problem at all & certainly im not one to start drama over politics.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion & if someone wants to say that i am uniformed i would say that is a very blanket statement. As I work in healthcare & IM very well informed. I do not have to state my reasons for my opinion nor do i care to take this any further. I believe fully we have our own opinons & we all stand by them. If it hurts anyones feelings im sorry but i stand by my words. Have a lovely day!

I have mixed feelings about it, I'm not sure really where I stand. On my hand, I believe that all legal residents should have health coverage. Some benefits would also help seniors with prescriptions and no cap on lifetime payouts, which is great for people who have serious health conditions. But on the other hand, I know this means that my taxes increase and my health insurance premium will increase. Critics also say that you will pay more for health insurance and get less.

So I'm torn but thats my two cents.

So glad that you were brave enough to respond!!

I have to say Im happy about it because right now I dont have health insurance but on the other hand I'm not really clear on how this is going to personally help me!

Well its quite a far cry from the day of the election when everyone was praising 'CHANGE.' It seems like just a year and a few months in, no one is very happy with the change, because fact of the matter is, its the change coming out of your pockets!

I am NOT a fan of this bill and it is NOT going to fix the health care crisis. I know where they were trying to go with it, but this is far too expensive and not thought out. This poor piece of legislation will not give the uninsured what they need.

I don't understand why they can't just let the insurance companies compete against each other?

$940 BILLION DOLLARS! On top of bailout after bailout...
2 trillion dollars in 421 days. Keep printing more money--that should help!

Welcome to the United States of China is more like it.

Absolutely!!!! If it wasnt for GWB we wouldn't be in this extremely expensive war! Everyone is so concerned about all the money that will be going to health reform which will help our fellow Americans but noone seems too concerned about all the money going towards this rediculous war we've been fighting for about 8 years now!

Which is an oil war and has nothing to do with WMDs or anything else.

I have a friend who lived in China for 4 years, by the way. He's gay, and he met his boyfriend there.

They weren't 'allowed' to live together. No one would rent them an apartment together.

Sorry, but I'd rather live here with an imperfect health care reform bill than somewhere I have no civil rights or liberties. To equate the two is madness to me!

Right the war Obama said he would have all troops out within 16 mopnths of his presidency & now has more troops in Afghan & the pull out is Aug. 2011 now. Hmmm

We will not debate GWB all i can say about that is most people voted hands down for GWB. We know the mess he has left & yes we know Obamam came in with alot to clean up. Which is precisely why you dont make promises u cant keep.

We all need to be concerned about the monies being thrown around for bailout after bailout the war & healthcare reform. IT ALL MATTERS> Its becoming ridiculous & unfair to teh American people.

I am not going to get into this because I do not want to fight but I will say that while I do think reform was needed, I am not sure I agree this way the way to do it. My biggest fear is that when I, my DH, or my parents get older the care will not be available for us because it will be considered a liability to do so. Honestly that scares the H ell out of me.. If I could get myself over that fear maybe I would be more accepting of the bill.

...naturally, it's wise to question government, that's in fact one of the tenets our nation was founded upon. it's what makes the United States of AMERICA (ahem) the vibrant, dynamic and unique country that it is.

that being said, it's because you live in this US of AMERICA (ahem) that you can say things that reference socialist and communist nations in comparison to your own free nation - freedom of speech. that's why we can have discussions, - lively, passionate discussions.

finally, i also think that the past dictates that change is always a difficult and lengthy process - takes decades at times. it's unwise to expect anyone, president or otherwise to wave a magical wand to fix issues that are 30+ years in the making. i don't know anyone personally who's read the entire bill, so unless you've read it, and actually comprehend it entirely (which would make you amazing because it doesn't seem particularly easy to understand by even those that have co-written it)...that it's not helpful to a climate of change to react with such (no disrespect) but blind opposition OR support for that matter for something that is slowly unfolding. only time will reveal whether or not it was a good idea anyway. i don't support or reject anything entirely. Social Security is 'socialism' as is education... and any other public service that is governmentally support/run. nope, none of those are perfect either. our 'socialist' post office was so poorly run that it was eventually privatized (like insurance)... and now look at it, they want to stop mail delivery on saturdays. insurance..well we know how that's been 'serving' the public... (note sarcasm) SO... my point is, don't judge so hastily. we don't know yet what is to be. and that i'm hopeful that this bill will help lots of those that can't otherwise afford any health care. people like my parents, small biz owners maybe won't have to pay 1500/month, plus a 10,000 deductible to cover my mom's heart issues. or that kids with disabilities will get coverage and not be told that their cerebral palsy is a 'pre-existing condition' and therefore families are SOL. ...i have to believe that...well, the works of the past ...they ain't working... maybe this will lead to some positive change. who knows? i don't. but i'm hopeful.

i don't think it's wise to throw words like socialist around, China, BTW is communist. not to be confused with socialist. Italy would have made more sense. and their healthcare is amazing. ps, we do live in AMERICA ...but i digress...

in the end, no one should expect to agree or disagree. i'd like to think that it's a good thing that this bill is 'idealistic' ...because once again, it's idealism that breeds questions, and change.

i'm done now. nite nite. no further comment. nope. not gonna say another word.

How can so many Americans be against it that it brought the Congress's approval rating down to 13% and yet it still got passed. Congress is supposed to be representing the people. If that many people hate it then the system is failing.

Also... there is some things in this bill that I have to question the constitutionality of, having read the ENTIRE CONSTITUTION (yes I read the WHOLE THING) and James Madison's Notes on the constitutional convention. Regardless of where you stand in politics, and where you stand on the bill, the founding fathers are rolling over in their graves.

Thats all I am going to say about it. I hate debating politics on line, but I had to say something.

No one said anything about the war or GWB here...I'm saying that I disagree with this piece of legislation and this is why. But if you want to go that route, would you feel differently if there was no action taken and there was another attack on your home soil? I'm not saying this is what would've happened--I just think that people that feel the war is useless would feel VERY differently if we were attacked again. And I lost a dear friend in Iraq so trust me, I'm not a WAR WAR WAR freak.

And the China reference was because we're in debt up to our eyeballs, to them. And pretty soon they will own us. I'm not talk about civil liberties or communism or anything like that?

Don't get me wrong, I think everyone SHOULD be entitled to health care...however I don't see why the taxpayers always bear the brunt of it...if you look at other countries where they have socialized health care, they are no better than here. People are leaving Canada to get treated HERE because the care there is so poor. Allow the insurance companies to compete instead of monopolizing areas and you have fair competition. Make rules for THEM to be able to purchase their insurance at a fair price. Ban them from dropping people and denying claims! Fine but where and why are we spending $940 BILLION DOLLARS?

Be careful what you wish for. This is going to fail and its going to be a pretty expensive lesson to learn.

I would also equate the two because lets face it this bill does effect our civil liberties. When government steps in to make your choices that is taking away your civil liberties.
