here is a question do you look at homes to get a concept of what you like or do you go to a bank and see what you can afford etc?
I mean I realize we are not buying a house tomorrow but I would love to look around at foreclosures in our area which can be $150-$200 which we could swing if I can find out about some HUD loan? so lost with this stuff.
We went for a loan but we new the house that we wanted to buy so they took that with our earnings from last year and our down payment money and came up with our loan amount but you have to pay 50 dollars for it and you have 90 days to find a house......so i hope this helps you.

Try Trulia.com
LOVE this site I stalk it everyday. It not only tells you the houses that are for sale but the ones that have sold in the area recently. I already bought but I get crazy trying to figure if the value has gone down/up.

I go on zipreality every day i love this site for various reasons. First you can see how long a house has big on the market for. Also they show you all the reductions made on the house.

Trulia does this too (shows any reductions/how long its been on the market) plus it has the last time the home was sold (when and how much). It also shows you how much the home is going for in comparison to the average comparable home price in the area great tool for negotiating!
