Thursday NWQOTD!!!

Well I was talking to DH about our future and kids and such....so that leads me to my question

When do you want to have kids? And if you do, do you plan on staying at home with them or going back to work after your maternity leave?

Well I want to be able to travel and enjoy being married ,start/finish my MBA and buy a house so we are looking to have them in 3 yrs and I will be 31. I also plan on going back to work 3-6 months after. I really enjoy my career and I dont see myself as a stay at home mom. There is nothing against those that pursue that life but for me as a person I want to work. We are also lucky that DH has family that can take of kids.

well we wanna have a house first, no way a kid will fit in our tiny apt! sooo hopefully sometime next year! if it were up to me, i would have a baby now, and stay home!!!

some peoples goal in life it to be sucessful in a career and all that, me my goal in life is to be a stay at home mom! lol it will never happen tho, unless me or DH wins the lotto sometime soon,

so most likely, actually most definately i will be going back to work after the babies come! most likely tho i will get rid of my second job!!

We both want one like NOW.. but I think we are going to wait a year.. enjoy some time together.. travel.. etc. I would like a house but there is no way im going to be able to sell my condo for at least another 3 or 4 years and im not waiting that long... so its going to be a tight fit for a while.

I plan on going back to work. I cant stay home!!! I go stir crazy in the house and I am sure we are going to need my income at that point.

We're going to wait a couple of years to start 'trying'. There is a lot we both want to do (moreso on my end) before we take on that responsibility, like travel, finish my Masters, get the 'dream house', etc.

I definitely intend to stay at home with our kids until they're school age.

We are going to wait about 3-5 years for kids. We are still living down in Florida and i'm tying to get DH to move back up to NY. I love it here, but i'm kind of over it and miss my family way too much. So we def. need to get that in order first and then worry about buying a house up there before we have kids.
I'll most likely have my business on the side after I have kids.

We're going to wait a couple years....we both really like being selfish right now and doing what we want when we want We also want a house before we have any children.

We want to be married at least a year before we try. Then because I am still trying to get that first teaching job we have to see from there.

Not sure what I will do yet as far as maternity. Depends on where we are in life. I would love to be at home with my kids like my mom was and be that super involved mom. But most likely I will be back to work.

We are actually 'trying' now!! We bought a house last year and got married in September and since we are not getting any younger we want to get moving on having babies!

I would love to be able to stay home and raise my kids but finacially we can't afford to do that. Hopefully one day we will be at a place where I can work part time. Our biggest dilema is daycare because it is sooo expensive!

we will probally start trying sometime next year, we are in no rush.

not sure what i will do once baby is born, we will have to see where we are in our life

DH is funny.... he wants to wait until 2012 because of the Mayan calendar! He thinks the world is going to end and according to the Mayans it does.
When I tell people that they just laugh. When we do have kids we discussed that I will be a stay at home mom.

Dh wants them now

We are holding off...whatever happens happens....

Once the baby is born dh wants me to stay home...I guess we will see our circumstances

DH is funny.... he wants to wait until 2012 because of the Mayan calendar! He thinks the world is going to end and according to the Mayans it does.
When I tell people that they just laugh. When we do have kids we discussed that I will be a stay at home mom.

OMG! You too?!?!?!

My FH is very FIRM about 2012. He was forthcoming about that early on in our relationship. I still married him, lol. Glad I'm not alone!

ETA: I would LOOOOOOVE to be a stay at home mom. Loooooooove to. Breaks my heart that I wont be able to.

We are currently trying now. DH & I have been together over 6 years & me w/ being in my late 30's & DH in early 40's - we dont want to put it off much longer b/c of chances of medical complications.

We have already done a lot of travelling, both finished our schooling (for the most part), we've had a house for 5 years now - so there really isnt much to hold us back (except finances!)- but hoping that works itself out soon too.

Whats with 2012! haha DH use to joke to me that when he would propose!

We don't plan on having children for a few years at least. We aren't in any financial position to have kids yet, and I just don't want kids yet! Haha. I think DH would start trying right now even though he's out of work and we are broke But most realistically we will start once I hit the big 3-0 which is in 3 years. I don't know if I will work or what. I guess we will have to see how that goes! I'm the main breadwinner, so I can't imagine being secure enough with money that I wouldn't have to work.

I feel the exact same way. I know we could never afford me being a stay at home mom but a girl can dream!

We are in the process of purchasing a co-op now so we want to wait until we are settled there and know we can handle the bills and still save. I am thinking we will start trying in another year.

OMG Because of the Mayan calender too?
What I find funny is that DH is catholic Its not like he even follows anything else. He is sooo silly. lol
I honestly think he is half serious.
