To be or not to be: Having children recount.

A while back, there was a QOTD asking who here is NOT planning on having children - either forever or no time soon. From what I remember, there were a bunch of 'us'

Since then, it seems like a lot of the 'class of 2002' has gotten preggo.

I could not be happier for them and I love to lurk on the parenting board.

Im just wondering if there are still women here who dont plan on having children?

Re: To be or not to be: Having children recount.

Definitely a waiter here too. And possibly a never. It's all going to depend on how we are doing finacially, and if we feel we are ready for that huge change in our lives.

Re: To be or not to be: Having children recount.

I was a, not now, not now, don't know when, but I am ready, hubby has always been ready. If and when it does happen we ready at least as ready as anyone can be.

Sorry Stef, some of us fell off the wagon j/k I think the feeling just came over me, like don't be scared anymore, this is a blessing, they are not as bad as they seem, and they are not going to be little forever, and you have a great support system in your life. Not that I do not still have my fears such as

Being fat
Losing spontaniety
Not being able to travel as freely as we like
Less trips to 9 West
No more sleeping in late
No more quiet time to myself for a while
Sharing my hubby
All quiet sex
Did I already say fear of losing the weight
No more quiet/alone time with hubby, w/o it being planned
No more on the fly hanging out with my girls after work

All these things still scare me when I think about it but I think I am ready.

Re: To be or not to be: Having children recount.

Our date to TTC is 1/05.

Because of the Accutane I cannot start any sooner really- unless I want the alien-head baby...

Re: To be or not to be: Having children recount.

Accutane is an acne medication that causes birth defects if you get preggo while taking it... So usually the doctors wants you to use at least 2 types of birth control while one is on it...

My Dh told be 2-3 years. I think that is too long to wait. I think I have changed his mind and hopefully we can start trying next summer. I would like a 5/05 baby for Mother's Day!

Re: To be or not to be: Having children recount.

Originally I wanted to start TTC now, but each time we think about it I push the date back farther away

I would prefer to be settled into a house by the time we try and who knows when that will be.

But no doubt we want kids relatively soon

Re: To be or not to be: Having children recount.

I am not ready yet. Despite the pressure from DH's family, we won't consider TTC until at least a year or so from now. I travel too much for my job (and enjoy being able to do that) and I still don't feel like we've had enough time alone as a married couple.

Re: To be or not to be: Having children recount.

Big Toss Up Ive gone 31 yrs without them and Im kind of happy. Paul on the other hand beleives in pro-creation.

I told him to pro-create with someone else.

I dont know, the other day I went to an estate sale of a woman who passed and her house was left. Her husband had already deceased and there were no kids, it was sad.

Re: To be or not to be: Having children recount.

We want to have them, and we're both ready...but common sense has prevailed and we will wait until we are on our feet financially (and have a bigger place to live!).
