Towns

Where did-do you live / grow up / why was your wedding on LI?

I grew up in Woodbury (hence the LI wedding) and I currently live in dirty jersey city.

Re: Towns

I am really sad being so far from family. DH grew up in Westchester so we are like totally alone in Jersey City. Even though its not far mile-wise it takes FOREVER to get home because of traffic.

We are both SO done being far from everyone. We moved here for work (at the time he was working in Northern Jersey and I was working in Brooklyn so JC was like a mid-point). I am honestly SO motivated to save cash-money for our first home.

ANY MONEY SAVING TIPS /TRICKS?!?

I grew up in Patchogue and after I graduated we moved to Medford (the next town over). We never thought of ever having our wedding outside of NY.

I grew up in west babylon. He grew up in huntington. We bought a house in huntington. Never thought about getting married outside of LI. (Except for our 'let's just have a destination wedding' moments during the planning.)

Re: Towns

I lived in Uniondale until I was 20..then I moved to Chicago where DH was living. (we're still here...boooo!). I chose to have my wedding in LI because all of my family was there (he couldn't care less if his millions of relatives came or not). PLUS, we got married and had our RH in the same place where my parents had theirs...awwww

Re: Towns

I grew up in Brentwood, then lived in Seaford, DH grew up in Franklin Square, and now we live in West Hempstead.

I would have loved a destination wedding, but his family would have never gone for it, we had our wedding on LI so everyone could come

I grew up in Rego Park/Middle Village in Queens and currently live in Elmhurst. Our wedding was on LI because it was too damn expensive to have it in Queens/Brooklyn/Manhattan!

I love my town - so many things to do and it's so quaint and cute! We'll have to see once we get into house shopping if we can find anything.

I grew up in FP too! What grade did you graduate and did you go to FPM?

Raised in FP since age 3.5. DH grew up in Wantagh since age 5. Live in Queens with DH. I wanted a Queens wedding but most of the places I found during my search was LI so we stayed on LI.

Re: Towns

I grew up in Massapequa and our wedding was in Massapequa too (Riviera). DH and I were living in Ohio when we got engaged, but he's originally from Philly (where we coincidentally live now). We knew we wanted to have a wedding in either LI or Philly so that our families didn't have to travel far. LI was honestly just easier in planning from long distance than Philly was, especially because of LIW . A lot of places in Philly required outside catering and permits for random things, and there were no websites that had reviews for any vendors! LI was just easier.

Re: Towns

Dh and I were born and raised wantagh. The really weird thing is both sets of parents were also born and raised wantagh.
DH and I now live in Seaford one town over but we are probably going to move back to wantagh or stay in seaford either way we are 5 minutes away from both of our parents.
