Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

Ladies, I was just wondering what type style you wanted for your pictures?

Personally for me my photographer was traditional, I have the mirror shot, looking out the window, my mom with my veil.. etc etc but he also got some pretty unique shots as well so not everything was poised and I was just wondering also for the ladies who did photojournalism shots do you wish sometimes they were more traditional style or the other way around..

I am probably not explaining myself correctly but just wondering how you felt about both styles without stating that one is better then the other since it really is just a personal choice.

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

I had traditional but really wanted photojournalistic....maybe not even extreme photojournalistic but at least some creativity! My pics are beautiful don't get me wrong but I've seen amazing pictures on here and mine were NOT amazing.

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

Wanted photojournalistic and got that. I pretty much told them at the traditional shots they were taking were for my mother in law, not for me - so no need to take too many. If anything, i wish i had told them no traditional shots at all and had them both focusing on the nitty gritty stuff.

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

I had traditional but I REALLY WANTED a photojournalistic. I went with what DH wanted and now I am not happy.

If I had to do it all over again I would do photojournalistic.

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

We wanted both and so we hired two photographers. Photos were very important to us and so we were willing to dig into our pockets a bit and get both.

DH says we can get all dressed up again and hire a photographer to take pics...but it wouldn't be the same.

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

Since I was on quite a few wedding boards, I had, had the opportunity to view quite a bit of wedding photos. I knew I did not want the deer in the headlight kindda pix, where the B&G stands stiff and all they do is move people around them, or I hold my veil or I do this or I do that and look all stiff.

I love the mix of photos that we have. So caught in the moment and a bit of traditional. Everyone that looks at our album says it is so different, feels like it tells a story and so not posed. I love them.

Of course we did have to have our posed pix of family, mom, dad, siblings etc. If we had to do it over again, I would not change a thing. Love our pix

I know exactly how you feel. I had just emailed curly2003 how I felt about this before this topic was even posted.

I feel like getting all dressed up and hiring a photojournalistic photographer to take pics of us again. Like go to westbury garden or sandspoint reserve and just take pics of the 2 of us. BUT I don't feel like it will be the same. I now I would love the pictures but everytime I would look at them I will know that they are not from my wedding day.

I hate my pics soooo much that I haven't even done the album. I know Hate is a big word and to be honest some pics did come out nice but its not what I wanted. I literally want my DH to choose pictures of the album because I am sooo dissapointed.

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

We had two photogs, one for each. I would have gone all photojourn. but DH's parents don't understand it. Our album is all b/w photojournalism though.

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

I wanted a mix of each and that is what I got. Most of the family and BP pics are traditional and the ones of me and DH are artistic. We also got a lot of pics of all of the little details that made our day unique. I was very happy with how they came out.

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

Latina.... I struggled with this for a long time and have finally just come to terms with it. There really is nothing we can do about it, we can't turn the hands of time and make it happen. Don't drive yourself insane over this! You have beautiful photos of you and your hubby to remember the day. I'm thankful our film wasn't ruined or something - things could always be worse.
I feel you!

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

I was telling Latina the same thing - it's still a wonderful memory of your day

I had what I guess most would call 'traditional' but kind of romantic. The exact look I was going for was what I got. I realized if I had a whole bunch of photojournalistic those were not the ones I would put in my album, so I'm glad I went with what I did. I love my pics.

My e pics were much less traditional- more photojournalistic and I liked them for that occasion.

When I'm blessed with being preggo and babies, I think those would look best photojournalistic.

I think it's a matter of personal taste, both are fine by me

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

I had both.

My DH is really not a fan of posed shots, and then when I started looking at the photos posted on this board, I knew I wanted photojournalistic. I wanted creative and sexy shots along with the traditional shots and I got both. I was very happy with my shots.

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

My absolute biggest regret of the whole wedding and it still upsets me is the photos. I really wanted photojournalistic style, without the grainy finish - which we were told we sould get....oh, well. I think everyone knows how I feel about my photos.
For those who don't know - I redid them n Ireland - not quite the same but good enough

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

I wanted (and got) photojournalistic. I hate the way I come out in posed photos, and was thrilled with the way they came out for me, without it looking too unnatural. We did get a bunch of traditional, family type shots, which was important, but the majority are photojournalistic.... and our album definitely tells a 'story'!!!

Re: Traditional Photographer or Photojounalistic??

My pics are mostly traditional. I did have a 2nd photojournalistic photographer. It was sort of a compromise because DH preferred traditional and so did both sets of parents. I'm happy with my pictures although I admit I prefer the photojournalistic shots. If I had it to do over I would have totally gone that route. I look at the pictures the most so I don't know why I let everyone else have a vote. I also am in love with Lia from Imagine so I would use her if I could do it over. That being said, I still love my pictures. For those of you who are unhappy with them, just try to remember that no matter what they are pictures of you and your DH on the happiest day of your lives together so far. You look beautiful and happy and that is more important than the style.
