Fat story that I think will make everyone feel better:

There is a Dunkin Donuts across the street from my job where I would go with some co-workers to grab a cup of coffee in the afternoon.

We go in, we're having some random conversation (might have mentioned someone being pregnat) and the woman who I THINK is the manager there and would make my coffee everyday turns to me IN FRONT OF EVERYONE and says:

'you're getting fat!'

I said EXCUSE ME?????

'yea you know fat (makes motions with her arms out to the sides to indicate my horizontal growth and then repeats) fat!'

My co-workers and I kinda laughed it off at the time because it was so unbelieveably ridiculous but it hurt. Especially in front of them and the rest of the crowd in there at the time. I still have not returned to that Dunkin Donuts and probably never will. Yea okay so I put on a few since the wedding - i didn't need the random Dunkin Donuts lady to call me fat.

My esteem is STILL hurting from that.

You are right ---we are definitely our own worst enemy & critic but take it from the LIW NW's----you look fabulous!!

Simply put, people can just be outright blunt and mean and you can't do anything to change that. What matters most is what your friends & family think of you

i def have a LOT of fat stories i can share, but instead i will divulge my enternmann's cake story. if you think eating what you did of that cake was bad, listen to this. we had the same cake at home, but w/ the white icing instead of the chocolate. anyway, i was about 16, got home from school, no one else was home, and decided to take a piece of cake. that piece turned into 4 right away. so instead of just stopping, i decide to finish the cake, buy a new one, and eat what was already eaten from the original cake, so no one would know that i ate so much cake talk about having food problems. that was 16 years ago, and i still think about that cake episode all the time.

Jenn, we definetly ARE our own worst enemies! How could we not be?? It's SOOO easy for women to have low self esteem in the society we live in today.

After I had my daughter ( i gained 60 lbs, btw) We went to visit family in FLorida and all I kept hearing from my family was 'WOW, you got so heavy!' Ummm, D!ckhead- I just had a baby 6 freaking weeks ago!!!!!!' ARE YOU SERIOUS???

I was always pretty much in shape, but let me tell you ANYTIME I deviated from that and gained a little (even after pregnancies) someone ALWAYS made it a point to tell me. Sorry, that's hateful IMO. And it has nothing to do w/ whether or not you think your some untouchable beauty or not. No matter how humble you are, there's gonna be somebody hatin.

I can understand family doing it because, well their your family- if you had a booger hanging from your nose you're fair game! A few pounds is definately something to pick on!

I just don't understand that people don't get that 99% of all brides are on some crazy diet or another before weddings and are NATURALLY going to finally enjoy what food tastes like after their weddings and eat like men!!!

Don't worry! I'm sure EVERYONE gained weight after the wedding...at least a little!! I know I have!

Okay you wanna see a before and after pic of me?? Im sure it would make you feel better. In 2005 I was 114 pounds. Im now 125.

I will say though, I was not happy at 114 lbs. I had no butt no chest. Im my happiest now and I work out to maintain that weight. I think youre PERFECT!!

Why are there like 3 posts every week from someone being called fat? What the heck is going on? When did it become okay to tell someone they are fat or to talk to other people about someone else's weight???? I just dont get it.

This is so true and I will say the older I get the more I notice people feel its okay to comment on weight. I guess I just never paid attention to it but this post got me thinking and just two weeks ago my sisters fiance and my step dad were making jokes about cellulite on my legs. And its funny because theyre both fat with beer bellies. My sisters fiance has bigger boobs than I do. (Im serious) And the jokes started when they noticed I was going religiously to the gym. It goes to show people love to put other people down cause it makes them feel better about themselves.

Jen, was the person who called you fat overweight??

its a strange strange world we live in, when someone with your figure gets called fat. you're not. and thats sad that someone would say that.

yikes...am i the only one who thinks its not okay for family or a hubby to pick on their loved ones or wife by calling them 'fat' or pointing out a few extra lbs. id be soooo hurt. not okay, even if its joking.
