Wanna play? EDIT: Misheard Lyrics and/or Malapropism thread

Original post by Colette

1) My Norwegian boss just referred to me in an email as his executive *ss. He meant 'asst' but sometimes things get lost in translation...

2) My friend used to think Alanis was singing:
'That cross-eyed bear that you gave to me'
in 'You Oughtta Know' (She suffers from Chronic Lyricosis):

Who's got one to share???

haha I have a cute one....

steve and I are talking about when we have kids... who will stay home, etc.

steve says... 'what about an au poivre?'

I'm like... 'yeah I think some peppery sauce will be great help in raising our kids!'

my poor cutie patootie meant au pair (although I was so proud that I taught him the correct way to say 'au poivre'

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You two need a reality show....

These are great,. I always thought it was cross eyed bear too. I imagined her ex boyfriend winning her this bear at a carnival and it still sits in her room cross eyed and haunting her.

Def Leppard Pour Some Sugar on me I thought it was Awesome shes my Way

Steve Miller Jet Airliner I thought he was singing 'She don't care there's a light on' but it was really 'big ol jet airliner'

Drops of Jupiter by Train I thought he was saying man that Van Halen is overrated but it was really Man that Heaven is overrated

Bruce Springsteen Brilliant Disguise was a Bridge In Da Skys

Bon Jove It's My Life I thought he said I friggin did it my way but it's really like Frankie said I did it my way. My friend was singing Bruce said you can't go home instead of who said you can't go home.

At the start of Boys of Summer by Don Henley I always want to sing Food Emporium Food Emporium listen I bet you will want to sing that too.

haha... my brother always says these hysterical things... not exactly malaproprisms but a play on words nonetheless...

and I quote...

Joey:
'I'm about to go native american on her @ss'

Me:

Joey:
'Chief Slap-A-Ho'

OK someone just walked by my desk and asked if I was ok; because my face is BEAT red (hahaha gotcha!!! its BEET red!!!) and my eyes are watering. I work in a snooty office so spontaneous outbursts of laughter are not common.

OK 2 more to throw in.

I know i've posted this before but:

VICIOUS CIRCLE for 'vicious cycle.'

AAAAAAAND lately i'm seeing way too many folks who are

'weary of posting personal information on the net.' Why, because you're doing it so much?
If you're not comfortable doing it you're either WARY or LEERY!!!

I am guilty of this one but its a mild one..really...LOL..

February said 'Feb-YOU-ary'

Another thing that drives me NUTS but that I do NOT do is pluralizing singuar words....

'I have to go see 'hers' (HER) after school.'

'I needs (NEED) to go to the store.'

My mom does that we call them Chooseday and Thursdy.

My Dh will make a statement and then vouch for himself example:

I went to the store, so I did.

How about people who go to the Li-berry to get books instead of the Li-brery?

HAHAHAHAHA MINE TOO!!!!
I always tease him and say 'did you now??' after he does that!

Steve also 'invents' words (I think they're portmanteaus, when you combine 2 words right?)
He says:
'I hate when you do that it gets me flustrated.'

I keep telling him babe, you either flustered, or frustrated, but you're not flustrated.

this reminds me...

i hate when people say FUSS-trated instead of frustrated!

oh and my dad... a few years back got a new juicer so he was obsessed with thinking of all of the different kinds of fruits that could go in there... he even thought about throwing some 'pomeranians' in there, cause they're so sweet!

i swear, my dad doesn't eat small dogs... but he DOES like pomegranates!

I was in the elevator a few months ago and 2 'suits' were having a mutual backslapping session, all impressed with themselves.

One of them tells the other, those numbers were really helpful, good thing you have a photogenic memory.'

Seriously I tried to not laugh, but I couldn't stifle it, and there was this RUSH of air past my clenched lips that sounded worse than if I had just laughed outright. I nailed my gaze to the floor and just slinked away, they thought I was just out of the nuthouse.
