DH and I were talking about the wedding cake and we couldn't remember if the flowers on top were silk or sugar paste... so we opened it up and tasted the flowers and some cake. They were sugar paste but we couldn't even wait until our 1 month anniversary.

The top layer was too big to keep in our freezer for a year, so we cut two slices and froze them for next year and ate the rest of the top layer during the wedding weekend.

We are going to have to eat our's August 4-5... we're moving to North Carolina and I can't refreeze it once it defrosts on the way there. So it'll be our own housewarming party lol

Um...not on purpose! She's an 84-yr old Cuban woman who had no idea that was a tradition and she got hungry and found it in the freezer. Gone! I wasn't mad....it probably would have been yucky in one year anyway.

I wish we ate our earlier. We had it on Monday, and while the fondant and chocolate filling was yummy, the cake itself was SO dry!

I ate a chunk out of mine!
My mom had it in her freezer & we took it after we moved, around our 3 month anniversary & I wantred o see if if it was decent, other wise, I wouldn't keep it. It was too frozen to really tell ( didn't want to defrost the whole thing. So now it looks silly, b/c it is in a clear plastic container --this pretty white cake with a big chocolate window!

We ate some of it the day after the wedding, too. I guess my mom didn't think that we would actually freeze it for a year. I wasn't too mad about it. At least I got to eat an extra piece the next day.
