Wedding gown storage

My gown is preserved in a 3.5 foot tall box that has been living in my computer room. I'm trying to weed through the clutter in my life this weekend, and I'd like to give my gown a new home.

Can I store it safely in the attic??

Re: Wedding gown storage

I think it depends on how humid your attic is and stuff like that...but im not expert. I stored mine in the basement which is probably not the perfect place but i cant exactly throw away all my clothes so I can keep it in my closet right?

All I would suggest is to put it in a spot that would be less likely to get damaged if there was a leak or other major event.

Okay, you just put all the thoughts in MY head into YOUR post. I'm not sure about the humidity factor, and that's what's keeping me from putting it there. I suggested storing it in my bedroom closet, but like you said, we'd have to clean out the closet to make it fit.

I'm thinking that regardless of the risks, I have no choice but to store it in the attic.

Hey, maybe I can drape it with pretty fabric and use it as a coffee table...

Re: Wedding gown storage

Hahha..never though of that. The box is big enough :D

I just figure it can be damaged no matter where I put it..so I just do the best I can and hope for the best.

Maybe when Im rich and famous I will have a seperate room for my dress

Re: Wedding gown storage

Can you fit it under your bed, that is probably the best place for it. If your bed is not high enough but you have the room under there BBB and L&T sell lifts that you can put on the feet to give your bed a little more height

Re: Wedding gown storage

mine is currently under my bed in our spare room.
Im afraid of putting it in th ebasement, because it gets a lot of moisture down there.

I'm going to check and see if it fits. Great idea! Currently, the leaves from my dining room table live under there. I bet they'll enjoy the company.

Re: Wedding gown storage

You are too funny Jen. The thought of your dress 'loving life' with your leaves of your dining room table cracks me up!

I have mine in my parents cedar closet.
