That was my opinion..I still have the opinion of 'Who cares' I really could care less...Im about people making there own decisions. People could preach all they want about my post but this wasnt here to try and change anyones thoughts....no reason to quote me, you should of just said your opinion that be done with it. Not being mean...I still dont care

i wasn't quoting you to be rude or mean. come on, we all quote each other on here ALL of the time. just bc its this is a more controversial thread, we shouldnt quote? honestly, its just that it was your post in particular that sparked the thought for me and i wanted to respond to it.... it was easier to reference it that way. thats why we have the quote option or else it can get kind of confusing in threads. you have your opinion and i have mine. we can all respond freely to eachothers threads if we choose.

Hopefully this wont upset anyone, but marijuana will be legalized in our country, it already is in California (but im not like a physhic or anything lol). I know plenty of students at my University that carry picture id cards to get their free marijuana baggies at clinics, they are students with medical conditions and had a doctor prescribe it for their treatment. They come to class completely stoned, and thats no lie!

If we follow this trend i predict that our entire country will legalize regulated marijuana/hemp for those who need it for medical purposes and to produce products such as linens, clothing, etc., from hemp.

Regardless of one’s view of marijuana use as normal or immoral, healthy or unhealthy, the fact is that over 70 years of government prohibition has done nothing to achieve the publics goals of increasing youth awareness of harm from marijuana use. While many losers do use marijuana, using marijuana does not create a loser out of someone

Well put Milana....a loser is a loser, whether they have pot or something else. They will find something.

I personally feel that there needs to be more awareness on the family end. They are the ones that need to acknowledge it and understand it and talk to and teach their kids. There is no 100% perfect solution to the problem, but I feel that a family should educate their children and teach them early on. There is no guarantee that it will work with every kid, but it is somewhat effective to actually know what your child is doing!

Ditto..I think this is one of those topics where people can get touchy. We all quote one another just to have an easy reference point-also makes it easier for people reading the thread after it has started to play 'catch up' if we have missed anything. No need to get miffy and pissy. If you really don't care, hey thats your opinion and you're entitled to it. No one is knocking it, just voicing our own. If its a topic that you feel too strongly about to listen to other ideas, maybe just leave that thread alone. I find myself having to do that on occassion; not so much here but on past forums on things like Kiddie porn because the subject makes me want to maim, and I cannot deal with some of the things I feel are INSANE that people post. So I don't.

IAs far as this topic, I personally would never say 'Ii can care less' because I think of it as a semi cop-out; when people say they could care elss, its generalyl because it dosn't affect them. but if it DID...they might care. Like I 'could care less' about people liking rap music and listening to it even though i myself hate the new rap and miss the original masters. BUT I DO care when its explicit and degrading lyrics are being blasted in front of my houde by my neighbors all day and night..then I DO care...Just as I care if someone is stoned out of their mind and God forbid I need their help and they can't; like a kid whose parent I ahve to call because the kid is puking and the stay at home parent decide to puff up for no medical reason-just a way to get loose(True story here-happened to one of my 2nd graders) mid-day. The parent was a good, involved parent BUT when their kid needed them, they failed them. They came to school stoned, a teacher realized it and they were arrested. Was it really worth the temporary high?

Granted if Marijuana were legal they wouldnt have been arrested but if you were a parent and had someone pickign up your kid, would you rather have them do it stoned or sober? Its not about the drug of choice then is it, but rather about your kid and their safety...

Yes that is one extreme case as far as the consequences but its very possible for it to happen with other situations as well. Just some food for thought.

I do have to say...that its a waste of our tax dollars to send pot users to jail on simple cases. Who cares is what I put....Who cares about what other people do in there own private time. If they want to smoke a joint, roll it, bowl it, eat it, mix it with seasoning and put it on food...who cares....People who smoke are going to smoke anyway...whether its illegal or not!! The key is obviously NOT to get caught. If anything legalizing it..will have more of a possibility of lowering the crime rate in the streets, since people would be allowed to go to the nearest pharmacy or store to get it, it will also lessen the popular demand, it would be great for our economy and who cares!!!! Ciggs are bad, alchohol is bad and both are addicting......people are addicted. Im addicted to chocolate thats bad...and if they made chocolate illegal I would find a way to buy it!!! lol

The only thing that I would have to say that could be a downside....and a negative thing about legalizing...is marijuana could be a gateway drug to other worse drugs. But its still the right of the people to make this choice. Its a PLANT. God must of put it here for a reason lol

Thanks for sharing Kristin!!!

Yea, I think that apathy can be a very harmful position, because it can lend to what i think Taryn was getting at...the gradual slide in society where anything and everything is becoming 'acceptable' and people can get away with taking less responsibility for their actions.

This could get steamy hahaha...but please know I am taking this subject lightly and thats probably why most of you think im nutzzzzo...but dont hate me!!

I agree with most of your points... Thats definatly why it should start in the home...if marijuana was made legal..parents could be more eager to talk to their children about it, and all. IM NOT saying mari Jane lol is good for you, thats not what im saying, I know the negatives about it!!! I just dont believe pot smokers belong in the same cell as kid rapist and killers!!! Nicotine is poison yet our government allows us to kill ourselves with it everyday and our parents smoke it ( at the same time telling us how bad it is lol)!!! My parents never brought up drugs...cuz since it was 'Illegal' out of site out of mind. If it was readily available there might be more concerned parents...more education available anddddd less crime on the street! I believe if your proagative is to smoke the ganga then your gonna smoke it, whether its legal or not. Im going to add this >>>>>JMO so noone gets offended JMO JMO JMO

Happy happy joy joy........

the only thing i'm saying about what I myself wrote (not what u wrote kristin! just clearing it up in case there was confusion..) is that i didn't say that pot smokers belong in the same cell as murderes and kidrapists...i was just trying to make a point that murder is murder no matter how u put it... just like a drug is a drug no matter which one u do..I just want to clear up that i was trying to say that drug users should be given adequate consequenses no matter what drug it entails..if it's illegal it's illegal..i wasn't at all saying that drug users are doing crimes compared to murder! lol. i was just using the two as separate analogies. anyways, thats all! hope u all know what i was getting at!

I have to disagree with you on that point b/c I could 'care-less' on this subject only b/c if someone is going to smoke pot....they are going to smoke pot...no matter what, that's a CHOICE that THEY make for themselves.

I was definitely affected by weed being a gateway drug to someone who is very close to me BUT whether or not weed was legal...he would've gotten high either way because of where he was...who he was with...etc..etc..

so to say it's a cop-out to people who care less, I would definitely disagree

but that's just me

IMO- I think there is a HUGE difference between someone who smokes pot and someone who snorts coke or shoots up heroin!! HUGE HUGE difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: What are your thoughts on the..........

i know the results are different - believe me my cousin was a full blown heroine addict and i watched her go through HELL. all i'm trying to say is if the goverment makes laws that they want people to actually follow - it should be 'this is the law' and thats it. People who DO smoke pot (other than it being thoroughly enjoyable ) subconsiously know that the penalties aren't that severe and it takes away the cautiousness & fear of getting caught & just re-instates that it's not a big deal because there IS a lot of leniency with it(wow that was a run-on sentence lol). if it's such a gateway drug & they want to stop the oh so common use of it, then give users the same penalties as any drug violation. am i making sense??? i'm just saying it's like giving a pyro a match & saying 'but u cant light it'.... 'this drug is okay - but do this one and your REALLY in trouble'.....i'm just saying i dont think there's enough of a deal about it to make people realize that it IS a bigger deal then it's made out to be these days.that's all and just for the record...someone that's smokes pot constantly(aka my cousin literally smokes ALL day like she's smoking cigarettes) actually can go through the same withdrawal symptoms as a heroine or coke addict. crazy i know, but true.

kristin..just wanted to say, hope you don't think just by virtue of the fact that i responded to your post or that it sparked some of my own thoughts...or even that i disagree with you or anyone else, that i 'hate' you, or anyone else. we are all just sharing views ya know.

theres a diff b/n flaming and responding or sharing your view.

the problem you brought up is parents not talking to their children enough about drugs. so the problem is with the parent in that respect. the logic is a bit off to think that the solution is to make a drug legal/more prevalent so parents feel more threatened and pressured to talk to their kids about it. there should be that same pressure/concern regardless bc of the availabilty of drugs today, ideally. i certainly think there are more healthy, proactive ways to get parents to teach their children about drug use. otherwise, you end up potentially risking a ton of harm (in legalizing) for how much good? (maybe some parents would decide its finally time to talk to their kids about drugs).

not sure if i wrote that clear.

one is judged to be stronger than another or more addictive...but why does it mean that its more acceptable to abuse/use one if they are all illegal?? thats what i don't get.

exactly my point. If I go on an audition & screw up, it doesn't matter how BAD i screw up..i screwed up. so i'm still not getting the job.

Re: What are your thoughts on the..........

lol - okay i can see me analogies & examples are getting repetitive & annoying. so i'll just go back to the basics. I dont think pot should be legalized
