What type of house do you normally gravitate to?

Original post by yelley77

Colonial, ranch, victorian, splanch, high ranch, etc?

I'm curious because I find myself always looking at the same style and wondered what some of you guys liked -- or if the style of house even mattered to you and DH?

DH and I have a splanch and I like the different levels, but my favorite house is Victorian with the wrap-around porch Also I would take anything on the water.....that would be my dream house

I dont even know what type of house I would like. Im so used to living in apartments and most likely will be shopping for a condo/coop when the time is right.

Colonial (which is probably because we bought one! lol) and victorian!

staten island has different styles of housing compared to long island - so if we stayed here we would probably end up in a townhome.....we are looking in florida and the home styles there are even more different than LI we like newer construction (nothing more than 5 years old), ranch style (most places are 1 level), split plan meaning the master bedroom is far away from the other bedrooms, we like homes that have lakeviews, and we like open floor plans where the kitchen and family room flow into one another....right now we put an offer on a lakeview home in a community, 4 bedrooms, 2 car garage, i love it, its a short sale though so we are nervous, our chances of getting it aren't the greatest but we both LOVE it

i dont really like older homes but i think victorian homes are gorgeous
