Where do you get your meat from??!!

I hate how expensive all the meat is in the food store. So I was wondering where everyone goes to get their meat and the best prices...?!?!

Which one do you go to, there is also another one by me on Queens blvd and that was is fine.

i usually buy it at pathmark when its on sale.. or else go to costco.. and i always divy them up and up freeze them in ziplock bags..

yeah that is my thing as well..I have a fear the meat will be bad if I freeze it

But is Costco really expensive or worth it?

its worth it bc everything you buy there is in bulk and at good prices. I used to always go there for certain things bc the prices you pay in bulk there comes out to less than lets say going to the supermarket and buying just as much. I used to always get paper towels, they come in these huge packs, i would say maybe 12 or more than that. Drinks are always great there and comes out SOOO much cheaper such as snapple, vitamin water, redbull and that sort of stuff. You definitely get good deals.

I lived in Astoria, so I used to shop at the one on Ditmars and 38th. Hated going in there because the aisles are tight and it was always so crowded. But the prices are good.......

The one on Queens Blvd I dont think has a big selection. I go either to the one on Ditmars or the one on Northern. DH REFUSES to go with me because of the lines. He waits for me in the car.

yeah def my mom and i would go when i lived in the city at school and bring baack all the good drinks, food etc. But I wasn't sure how their meats were priced...but i have to check it out thanks!!!!!

I do most of my shopping at BJs or Stop and Shop. Occasionally I'll get some of my meat from Omaha Steaks. I really like their filet mignon.

LOL thats the one i went to for YEARS, but yeah the aisles were SO narrow, thats why i never used a shopping cart in there lol. But for me it was perfect bc i lived 2 blocks away. The best yet on 20th ave is not bad either, well it used to be waldbaums but now best yet.

wait what part of queens do you live in? I think i went to the one on northern just once, but like i said in my post above, the one on ditmars is the one i went to for like so many years, probably 15 or so lol. The one on queens blvd is real small. Its funny bc when i first moved from astoria, i still would go there to do my food shopping, took me a while but finally started going to places around me lol.

I shop at sales. i don't buy chicken cutlets unless they are under $1.99 a pound. I usually buy at Pat's Farms, Stop and Shop, and Pathmark. Waldbaums has good buys but there is not one near me. which reminds me that tomorrow's sales came out today online.

Lately they have differnt flavored chicken sausages, I like those too

I just think its easier. Plus we are only 2 people so it lasts.

I lived on 42nd so this was closer than going all the way to Key Food or Waldbaum's where we did the big shopping. Trade Fair was good for fill in items. Produce came from Sunshine. Meat came from the Italian then Irish butcher off of Steinway.

so funny but dh grew up on 42nd street his whole life, which avenue?

Remember the fruit and vegetable store on the same block as trade fair on the corner, they closed it down and now its DD, it was so weird seeing it there. It just opened and saw it last week.

Another place that is good is also on that same block on 38th and ditmars is Joe's pork store, that guy has been around since the 20's or 30's lol

Oh the butcher on steinway, yeah we always get lamb from there for easter, its insane during that time.

I usually buy at the supermarket if it's on sale. DH loves roaming around butcher shops, it's odd to find him fondling lamp chops So he gets a lot of meats at butchers
