I say do it! I can kick myself for not doing it. I have seen so many pics with uplighting and it really gives it that something extra!

I'll tell you what my DJ said to me - You booked the venue because you liked it. Do you really need it? Needless to say, I didn't do it after that.

Re: Xpost: To save or NOT to save $600?

I'd save my $600 or at least check out other places. That seems a little steep to me!

ETA: We didn't have uplighting and nobody missed it.

Re: Xpost: To save or NOT to save $600?

I was so not into uplighting...but then I saw how it changed the room, and I fell in love with it.

However, we had originally booked our ceremony for the RH and then switched to a church... so we had to pay the RH for the ceremony anyway and that money was used toward the uplighting instead of the ceremony...

At the time, I wouldn't have paid extra for uplighting....looking back, I would've wanted to-if that makes any sense!

Needing and wanting - 2 separate things. Don't forget that you will have CP's on the tables and whatnot and it will be individual to your day. Do what your gut tells you to do.

Re: Xpost: To save or NOT to save $600?

what time's your reception? if its during daylight at all, maybe its not worth it. ours started at 6:30 in the summertime and the DJ talked us out of it (yeah the one who was selling it to us lol). It wasnt going to get dark till 830 and the hall didnt really need it, with all that was going on. And i had really small cps.

Re: Xpost: To save or NOT to save $600?

I had uplighting at my wedding - it was one of our last 'last minute' expenses and I LOVED it. Would people have missed it if it wasn't there? Not a chance. Was it worth every penny for me to see the ballroom the way we envisioned it? Absolutely

DH was against it early on, but at the wedding and after seeing our photos, he was so happy with it.

Re: Xpost: To save or NOT to save $600?

I got on the uplighting bandwagon halfway through planning and brought DH on too.

He wasnt about it in the beginning - the $$ was an issue and he just didnt get it.

It kept coming up - he kept seeing pictures of it and started to really like it.

Day of it was on of the first things he noticed in the room (me too). We loved the room before and that was one of the reasons I didnt want it, but it just added something to it and gave it an extra layer.

BUUUUTTT it is extra money - so if there is something else that you think that money could go to, just consider what you are really going to take away from that day - is uplighting going to make it or break it, or is it adding an extra hour to the party?? maybe more video options or photo?!?!

Re: Xpost: To save or NOT to save $600?

I didnt do the uplighting, but that was because we had a fire place in our room so it gave it light in that way.

I can tell you that the last week before the wedding we all of a sudden had expenses we werent expecting- parents gifts, wrapping paper and cards for bp gifts (i swear, that added up haha), DH needed new jeans and a sweater for the RD, etc etc etc.... so if you are worried about $$ and saving the $600 then I would steer away from it. You never know what may pop up unexpectedly.

Re: Xpost: To save or NOT to save $600?

We had uplighting only because it came with our hall. If our hall didn't have it I wouldn't have paid extra money for it.

If you're that torn on it, I would just save the money - as someone else mentioned, last minute expenses will come up in the weeks leading up to the wedding, so it'll be good to have that $$ on hand. It would be nice to have it, but if you're not hung ho on it (and willing to save the $), then don't do it.
