you think it's OK if....

you think it's OK if....

you send out Christmas Cards even though Thank You's aren't done yet? We are only 3 months out yet -- but still haven't sat down to decide on a picture for our TY's.

I feel so guilty sending out Christmas Cards before TY's? Anyone else feel the same?

I should get over it right?

hey date twin... i wouldn't worry about it.

I'm waiting for my proofs to be ready, and print photos before sending out my TYs...

Im sure no one would care... and if they do... ew--creepy.

I am doing the same thing. DH & I can't decided on a thank you picture yet, so we figured we would until after the holidays.

I agree don't worry. I just sent off my pics that I want to use for thank yous this week. I don't think it matter's too much because they know these take time and they will get something nice for the new year.

I think the 'etiquette' says you should send thank you carsd out within 1 month to 3 months tops BUT thats not taking into account that most people these days do photo thank you cards and not the traditional generic ones. You need to wait for the proofs obviously and when people see then they will understand why it took longer than 'its supposed to.'

Don't stress. I think if you get them out before you make 6 months you'll be A Ok

I am usually so on top of thank-yous, like for our e-party and shower, they were done and in the mail in 2 weeks. I plan to get them done and out by mid January What a relief that will be

I hear ya! I had my BS thank you's out the same weekend and it made me feel antsy that I had to wait for my proofs to do the photo thank you's. But most people understand now. Some of the older folks may not get it because they dont really understand photo thank yous and the modern touches but generally people won't bat an eyelash.

Not to be contrary to my lovely Jenn, but ettiquette wise you actually have ONE YEAR to send out Thank You cards! (And guests have one year to give a gift).

However, I think 3-6 months for Thank You's is the more generally accepted time frame. GENERALLY SPEAKING.

My friend sent hers 12 months after her wedding and she was so embarrassed, but I kept telling her it's always better late than never! In her case, she also got pregnant 5 months after the wedding so the Thank You's went on a back burner. So long as you get them out, you should be fine!

Oh and we're sending Christmas Cards (with one of our wedding pics on it) before our TY's - we haven't even picked pics for our TY's and then would have to wait for them to be made, then write them out, etc etc!

Hm ok. Guess conflicting info :)

I looked it up and said actually up to 5 weeks-should be 2 weeks after your honeymoon and no more than 3 months for gifts recieved at th wedding. Gifts recieved after, you send thank you's as you get them.

You DO have a year to give a gift and of course then you write yout thanks you's as you get the gift, but 3 different sites did say you should do them as soon as you get the gift. And from experience I know women who waited till a year and the talk of 'tackienss' never ended. I think its considered polite within 3 months. And honestly, if you get checks, we all cash em pretty soon but REALLY tacky to cash a generous gift and then wait a year to say hey thanks. But yea thats the 'technically proper' way that is saying thank you's should be the tarditional one, not photo ones. For photo thank you's you are fine.

Answer
Dear GH,
She has is wrong. People have up to a year to SEND a
wedding present. After a year the couple is no
longer 'newly wed'. She needs to get those thank you
notes out within two weeks.
Please point out to her that these people were not
obligated to give her anything. They spent their limited
time and hard earned money. Writing a brief note
expressing gratitude is not a job she should begrudge.
Best regards,
Amanda Gamble

Heck I think everyone would agree that the sooner you send your thanks the better! I do know that in this day and age when most couples have to wait for pics to be in to then choose pics for their ty's and get the cards, then write them out etc., it's common for cards to not go out until the 3-6 month mark anyway.
