04 Brides

Original post by nylisa

Just checking up on my fellow 04 Brides, wanting to see if any of us have done anything new and also just to say hi.

New things:
Brought my BMs each a BM hankie and a little BM book
Going to order 'Ring for a Kiss' bells
Found the dress that I want but I just need to go into the store and look at it

That is what has been going on with me.

Re: 04 Brides

Hi I'm a new 04 Bride I just got engaged yesterday actually. This group sounds like you guys could help a lot. I don't have a place yet. So any recommendations would help. I was trying to stay sort of close to Freeport since I have a lot of people coming from out of town. Can you guys tell me what FI and FH stands for?

I'm going to need lots of help ladies especially since I'm planning this wedding from out of town.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Re: 04 Brides

Welcome to our 04 'club'. I would recommend Manor East. ChippaTriD and I are both having our reception there on the same date. Check them out. Here is their website Manor East .

FI = fiance
FH = future husband

If there is anything else that we can help you with, just ask.

Where do you live when you say that you are planning from out of town?

Re: 04 Brides

The manor east looks beautfiul I will definitely have my mom check that out this weekend. I currently live in Maryland but I was raised in Freeport. So I'm counting on my mom to do a lot of the foot work on this. So I can come up on the weekends and make final selections. About the only thing I do have is a videographer one of my bestfriends-boyfriend is a professional and he'll give me the best price so I know I'm going with him. Everything else is up for grab ladies so I'm taking all advice!

Additionally-I'm thinking about getting my FI a Playstation 2 for his 'engagement' gift. What do you ladies think? He's really into sports not so much into jewlery so I don't know what else to do unless I get him a diamond for his ear?

Re: 04 Brides

If he likes sports than why not get him the Playstation 2. You should get him something that he likes.

I think a Playstation is a great gift!! You don't have to get him jewelery. Get him something that he likes and will use.

Re: 04 Brides

Welcome & congrats!! PS2 is a cute engagement gift. If he's anything like my FH don't expect to see him anymore HAHAA My FH has XBOX & is obsessed with that stupid HALO game. All of my gf's boyfriends (including my FH) get together every week & play for literally 6 straight hours!! That is a nice gift idea though!

I am trying to think of what places you could check out for receptions---THE RIVERIA is nice in Massapeua--especially in the summer because it's on the water. We're having our reception @ the North Ritz Club in Syosset--I now it's the opposite direction of Freeport but it's GORGEOUS!! hope this helps.... OH! Chateu Briand is nice and is in Westbury-a little closer to Freeport!

I think a Playstation2 is an awsome gift!!

Re: 04 Brides

OH my gosh there is so much stuff to do. I don't know what I'm going to do. I hopefully want to get married in June '04 but it really depends on the place and I want to have the ceremony and the reception all at one place because neither of us belong to a church in NY. I'm going to go home now but I will talk to you ladies tomorrow. Thanks alot ladies.

Alfordk9:
My FH got a playstation 2 for his engagement gift from one of his buddies. He played it non-stop every evening for about 4 months, and now its become a lot more sporadic b/c he got tired of the games. Just make sure you realize what you're getting yourself into Have your outings planned with the girls, as he may be a bit busy for a few months, lol

Re: 04 Brides

I got Fh Playsataion2 at BJ's for Channukah- it was a lot less$$ to buy it there, then got him a game that has all the old Atari 2600 games on it. He loved it!
Fh makes fun of me all the time becuase I am always on these boards 'talking' to you all.
I took my very good friend with me to look for my gown.
Welcome Alfordk9! If there are any questions that you have ask away! or Fm mail me and I will gladly try to help.
We also keep talking about what our day is going to be like.
The best advice a good friend gave me was to have my main entree wrapped up, becuase she said you will get very hungry later on after the reception becuase you usually do not have too much time to eat that day, it goes so fast, and you are paying for it anyway.
I found new living room furniture today! Hurray! It has taken me a long time to find what I like, with my luck, I will go to order it and it will be discontinued!
Anyone else do anymore planning?

Re: 04 Brides

Yea another 04 bride. Congrats Alfordk9

AlfordK9: Manor east is really nice. Its really pretty in person. The room where my cocktail hour is has this huge mirror on the back wall and it has the NYC skyline etched in it. Its really nice. Even though NYLisa and I are both going to be at ME at the same time, we wouldnt even see each other (though we may plan to meet to take a picture) and our parties would never bump into each other because we each have our own kitchen, staff, bathroom, and separate entrances.

Not really new planning going on. I am actually going to start my holiday shopping this week.

FI wanted PS2, but he has so many game systems he really doesnt need another one. He does however spend hours playing this online computer game called Diablo. He sits there all day over the weekend and plays Diablo.

Re: 04 Brides

AlfordK9: Cost really depends on what kind of wedding you want to have. It really depends on a lot of things.
When we first got engaged, we thought we could do a wedding for $15,000. We soon realized that it was impossible for us to do.
We expect to spend $30,000 not including Honeymoon. Keep in mind that about $20,000 is going to the reception hall (It's about $100 per person for 200 people). We have to gurantee 150, so we may be under $20,000, but at least 15k is going to the reception hall.
Then we have limos: $1,500
Photographer and Video: about $5,000
DJ: We haven't booked yet, but we expect to pay around $1,500.
Florist: We know who our florist will be, but have not gone for an estimate yet, but we expect to pay $2,000 (no more than that)
Invitations: Again we haven't gotten them yet, but I'm assuming we'll pay no more than $500 (I'm not really sure what is average for invitations, so this may this estimate may be low)
That all equals $30,500. This is not including Bridal Party/Parent Gifts, honeymoon, dress, tux.

But you can do it for cheaper than this. You can cut add certain things depending on what you want. Hope this helps!!

P.S. Writing this just gave me a headache!! I can't believe how much $$ we're going to spend!!
