I am afraid that I will change my mind if I get a dress this early. I might start looking next month. I need to register first. Everyone is asking me if we are having an engagement party.

I didnt have an eparty. Family and close friends will get you gifts anyways.

snow what you could do just to have your parents and his parents meet is do a nice dinner. and if anyone asks if you are having an e-party just say its just immediate family.

or if you want maybe have just the immediate family, get together at a nice restuarant for dinner.

They can get expensive, and I feel it is a way to get gifts, and I don't want people to feel they have to get me something.

I didn't want an e-party because I didn't want people to have to get us a gift, but his family is from Saint Louis, so we are having a get together so both families can meet.

I'm almost sad that I already have my dress, so i miss out on that excitement this time around (was engaged before but thank god it ended). But I wouldn't trade my dress for any other!!! I LOVE my dress. I just took some pics of my dress... ill post them soon!

I know. They have all met in stages over the past two years since we have been together, my FMIL even came to Thanksgiving this year. But both fathers haven't met so that is the main reason.

Welcome to the boards Carey! This site gets sooo addicting!!!

I booked Jacqueline Nicole for a trial to do my makeup for my e-party that is coming up in a few weeks. My appt. is on Tuesday so I'll be sure to post pics and let you girls know how she is. I heard good things about her so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I don't think it's too early to start looking for dresses...I think its nice to go and get an idea, especially if you have no clue as far as what type of gown you want (like me...I have no idea what kind of dress I want.)

I am DYING to go dress shopping. My mom and I were supossed to go last week but my mom was really sick with the flu-maybe this weekend! I have found a couple of dresses I love and I emailed MACYS BRIDAL SALON and they wrote me back saying they have samples for me to try on!!

We didn't have an engagement party for the same reason--felt bad obligating people for a gift--turns out we made a nice chunk of change anyway-from people who just wanted to 'support' us!! Another check came in the mail today--I was so happy!! LOL

I can NOT wait to shop for the dress. I have no idea what I want, except I do not want strapless. (I am unfortunately small)

me too...i don't like strapless...I'm going to go to the bridal salon at Saks in Manhattan....they have gorgeous dresses there....I am also going to go to Bridal Reflections..they have a large selection there too.

I don't want strapless either- I want something with sheer,elegant sleeves--I'm getting married in November and I want to be practical!

Hey! Robeymuse, I am small too. It is very hard to find clothes! I like the strapless, but I am seeing so much of it lately, that I am afraid it is a fad!!!
