so I have it narrowed down to 10 halls but that's still a lot to drag FH to lol. I don't know which ones I should get off the list. I've searched and read reviews.
does anyone have anything to say good/bad about any of these halls?
Swan Club Leonards Douglaston Manor Fox Hollow The Riviera Chateau Briand Watermill Villa Lombardi's Crestwood Manor Thatched Cottage
really any input is so appreciated to help me out. I like all these places for different reasons and it's just driving me crazy lol
It's so hard to pick

-Fox Hollow- when i went to see it there was a wedding going on so I got a quick run through. They were renovating the back yard where the ceremonys are held & he made it seem like they had a lot of ideas of what they were doing with it. I wasn't crazy about the menu.
The Riviera- this was my #2 pick.... LOVED the price, loved the outdoor area, loved the main room. Wasn't too crazy about the woman we met with, but thats just my opinion. I've kept the 'what is it rains' thing in my head & didnt see that many indoor pic options.
Watermill- if my brother didnt get married here I prob would've went with them. Great food, beautiful rooms. We didnt see the outside bc their wedding was in Dec. Couldnt complain about anything.
Villa Lombardi's- Food is always perfect with the lombardi's. you get so much for what you are paying for. I used to work for them so i KNOW their food is amazing. The place is gorgeous too. I didnt go with them bc of their price. I was looking for something cheaper. The guy I met with was a PIA. He called me everyday for a good month. Finally I answered and said i would discuss things and call him back, He still to this day calls me about once a week to ask how things are going. I met with him the end of May. GEEEEEEZ. i guess its my fault for not telling him we already booked somewhere else.
Thatched Cottage- Food choice was different. Indoors and outdoors was GREAT. i didnt like that the cocktail hour was downstairs and reception upstairs. My grandma has a hard time walking so I wasnt too crazy about the steps.
*Hope this helps
it seems everyone knows about fox hollow being worked on or whatever they are doing lol. he did not mention one word of that to us when me and my girl went. I love that room there. I don't even remember the CH room or bridal suite though. I have to go back there and see what they are doing.

Swan Club Leonards Douglaston Manor Fox Hollow The Riviera Chateau Briand Watermill Villa Lombardi's Crestwood Manor Thatched Cottage
Swan Club, went to a wedding there about 6 years ago, the grounds were very pretty and from what I remember the food was good.
The Riviera, we looked there but if you go over a certain number of guests the seating gets weird, like they can't all see the dance floor. I could be wrong but that is how I remember the woman describing it to me.
Watermill, I've been to about 8 BILLION weddings there, it;s nice don't get me wrong I just feel like if I go to one more wedding there I may scream. There is nothing really different about it but the service is great and the food is consistant.
Thatched Cottage, my uncle got married there 5 years ago and it was great. The food was good and their cake was AWESOME. I really liked the outside where they have the ceremony.

I gotta ask about the seating at the riviera. we shouldn't have a lot of people. like 125-130 I think. but then again maybe that is a lot for there?

Re: 10 halls ughhhh
If DH and I weren't married at Jericho Terrace, it definitely would have been Villa Lombardi's. The food is out of this world, and the venue itself is just beautiful. The Glass Pavilion is one of my favorite rooms. We attended 2 weddings there, and the staff was very nice, they always seemed to be on top of things. We all had a wonderful time. We've also been to a wedding at the Watermill. It's a beautiful place, but the food wasn't as top-notch as some other places IMO and there was one waiter who was having a bad day (I heard people say he was rude). It was still a good time had by all, but I definitely think Villa's blows it out of the water. No matter what venue you choose, it will be wonderful! :)

You will easily fit 125-130 at the Riviera - ive seen it set up for 180 and it wasn't squished. There is that back corner that can be kinda tricky, but its good to sit older people so they aren't right near the speakers and what not.
Plus it is one wedding at a time - they are also really cool w/ you stopping by to check things out. I have crashed a couple weddings (by accident) by going to see it and they are okay with it but just like you to keep it on the DL lol.
As for your other places I can only comment on 2: Swan Club - one of the places we looked at and the banquet manager really turned me off, i didnt feel he was very accomodating but that was just our experience. I LOVED the grounds!
Thatched Cottage - I had my prom there and loved it. The food was awesome and I would have checked it out for the wedding but it was a bit too far for us. A girl I went to HS just got married there and it looked really beautiful!

I was supposed to get married at JT years ago. gorgeous place and it's 2 mins from my house lol. I love the look there and Villa is sort of similiar I Think. at least with the marble. I love that glass pavillion room. it was one of the first pics I took with my new iphone lol. I always go look at it and smile.
I gotta go back to places again I forgot most of them. I think watermill felt dark or maybe that wasn't WM. ughhh.

Take pictures! And write notes at the place/in your car right after you leave. That's what we did to keep them from all blurring together, since we knew we wouldn't have a chance to go back.
my friend had told me you weren't allowed to take pictures so until the 10th place and the woman at Villa was like why aren't you taking pictures? so I was like I am allowed to do that? and that's when pictures started lol. though most places since I wasn't used to it I mostly forgot to take pictures unless someone reminded me to. I blame my glorious friend for that one.
that same friend only at the end thought of that same take notes write stuff down idea right after we got in my car afterwords. at the last place we went to! so besides Thatched cottage I have no notes written down. besides my memory of places like little things that stood out I don't really remember much.
until I looked at Villa papers I didn't even remember she had thrown in a chocolate fountain for me lol.

I actually walked into each place with a pre-printed list of questions, and I wrote their answers right on the sheet. That way I knew everything got asked and answered, and I didn't have to flip through their paperwork searching for it.
I wish I was organized like that. I only started thinking of good questions to ask after like the 20th place lol. what questions did you ask? I don't even know what to ask. I ask about throwing in sushi since my mom and FH love that and have to have it lol. I really want that martini ice thing but those are all upgrade things not really questions.

Re: 10 halls ughhhh
i had my wedding at Swan club. It was AMAZING. They treated us so wonderful! We had a small affair, only 75 people and they never made me feel like I was second best. They were so helpful with my flowergirls and the BA was with me all night get me and DH everything we needed. I received so many compliments on my wedding even from my parents who say the truth about everything. My brothers MIL said my wedding blew her own childrens wedding out of the water.

I think she was confused w dresses. I took pics at all 3 places and no one complained.
