so i went to the fitting....and well i'm not happy. the dress shop assured me they had a bra that i could purchase for my gown. so i went to the fitting with my bridal shoes, as they had my slip & gown. well turns out the bra they gave me does NOT work with my dress. so when i put the dress on, i looked absolutely terrible!
the top part of the gown is all pooched out cause of the bra, and is really big on me. so big, that i really don't know how they are going to pin/alter it enough so that it doesn't stick out when i do get the right type of bra. the back is WAY lower than i thought it was, so i'm a little weirded out about that, cause i'm not a fan of my back and now it's gonna be allll out there. hopefully my veil and hair will cover my back fat!
the gown itself, is beautiful, and the length only needs to be taken up a little...but the sweetheart neckline and sides are too big, and it made me feel so fat. the jury is still out on whether or not my arms looks gigantic in it or not. i just couldn't get a feel for it because of the lack of proper bra.
to make it allll worse, they couldn't do a THING for my fitting, and now my REAL first fitting will be scheduled Jan. 9th!!!!! barely 6 weeks before my wedding!! i'm really upset about my dress and how i'll look in it, i hate having this total insecurity moment, but i just didn't feel gorgeous in it, and i'm hoping that it will get altered correctly in time.
sorry for the long vent. i'm just really sad. i took some pics, but my mom is retarded and can't figure out shiit with a camera. not sure if i should post what i have. i'm almost embarassed to show the pics i feel like a damn cow.
UPDATE: sorry...deleted all the pics so that any 'lurkers' that might know me won't show the pics off to my FH!

Melissa, I just saw your fitting pics in your album. Honestly, it does NOT LOOK BAD AT ALL!!!! I think the only 'thing' is that it's too big, but it definitely doesn't look so big as to not be alterable.. they CAN FIX IT! The lines are simple in the top, so they can DEFINITELY take it in.
It will look way more beautiful when it fits properly. The dress is veryyy pretty. For a bra, everyone has suggestions, so I'll just add mine... I used the long line bra from David's bridal when I was in my friend's wedding. It wasn't very expensive at all and it really held my stomach in and pushed up my boobs great. It's a smooth line bra so there is no seaming in the front, back, nor on the boobs. If you have a David's Bridal near you, why not try one on and see?

Just took a peek at your album...the dress is beautiful! DOn't worry, it can be fixed! a) you picked a gown with princess lines, which I here is easier to take in cause it already has the seams going down the front, sides and back so it can def have the fit flare which is so flattering...
b) once the girls are comfortable in the right bra, it will make a world of difference!
c) you do not have huge arms! in fact you are not that big at all! to hear you talk i expected something else!
d) the gown def flatters your figure and a good seamstress will have no prob with the bodice work!!!!
Cheer up chica! You're getting married and you will look GREAT!!!!

Your dress is beautiful, and it looks like it suits you well. I agree with everyone who posted earlier, with the right bra and those talented seamstresses the dress will be *perfect*!
And you should be happy the dress is big -- that's the silver lining here -- things can be done to make the dress smaller. Just imagine if the dress was small!!!!!

Hey, My opinion (since I own a lingerie botique) is I see you have on the Goddess sweetheart longline.
Does the cups fit you properly? If it's just the back that's sticking out, unhook the 1st 3 hooks and tuck them in, it creates a low back, or have the seamstress alter the back of the bra.. she didn't suggest this??
If you need low back bras I have them in my store. I can try to help you.
I think you look beautiful don't worry it will be fixed!!!
edited to say: EVERY bride needs a pair of spanx, it will help the dress lay on your body better. It can't hurt to try!

I know ur discouraged but u definatly SHOULD NOT be... the dress they ordered has to be big... they can alter a dress from big to smaller.. they cant alter a dress from small to big!!! As far as the bra, the seamstress will be able to either sew the dress so that it covers the bra, OR sew the bra to fit the dress better.. My aunt who is making my dress is actually sewing the bra lower so it wont show, and she'll also be attaching little hooks inside so the bra doesnt pop out of anywhere... Have some faith in the seamstress.. itll all work out!!!!

Melissa first of all you look beautiful, and your dress is gorgeous. The dress looks like its too big for you. I'm sure once its fitted it will be perfect. Did they try to clip it so make it look like it fit better so you could get a better idea?

I think so too. i think that with the proper adjustments and the proper bra the dress will look kick as$. As far as the back goes I dont think it comes down too low... but I dunno the look u were going for. Besides though i would hardly worry about that with ur veil on ur back prob wont show all that much anyway. If worst comes to worse ( though I think it wont) U can always have a little cap sleep or strap added to help pull back the top that pops out too much. I wouldnt worry too much about it ( easier said than done though) I think that the seamstress will do her job and pull in the top to make it fit correctly.

You're crazy! It looks great. They can definitely fix the top front part. I had this issue with a BM dress and they got it to fit perfectly - just make sure you stay on top of them and don't settle. Make sure it fits exactly how you want it to.

I know a lot of girls who were very disappointed with their 1st fittings but it always works out in the end. You'll feel so much better in the proper bra and after the alterations. They'll make it right.

That dress is gorgeous! I wouldn't worry. Listen, I have a friend who has the type of bra you need. It's like yours but asweetheart shaped top so it still lifts. I think they should be able to fix that dress. As far as your back goes, I think it looks fine. I know you said you were worried about the arms too and I also think they look fine. But a wrap would take care of both.
Don't get down. Wait and see what they can do for you. The first fitting is always the worst.

ok so i have to admit i was scared from ur disappointment and description to see the pics but after seeing the pics girlie DONT WORRRRRRRY 1.) the dress is gorgeous! 2.) a good bra makes everything and 3.) once its altered to fit right at the top its gonna look beautiful!!!
