so i went to the fitting....and well i'm not happy. the dress shop assured me they had a bra that i could purchase for my gown. so i went to the fitting with my bridal shoes, as they had my slip & gown. well turns out the bra they gave me does NOT work with my dress. so when i put the dress on, i looked absolutely terrible!
the top part of the gown is all pooched out cause of the bra, and is really big on me. so big, that i really don't know how they are going to pin/alter it enough so that it doesn't stick out when i do get the right type of bra. the back is WAY lower than i thought it was, so i'm a little weirded out about that, cause i'm not a fan of my back and now it's gonna be allll out there. hopefully my veil and hair will cover my back fat!
the gown itself, is beautiful, and the length only needs to be taken up a little...but the sweetheart neckline and sides are too big, and it made me feel so fat. the jury is still out on whether or not my arms looks gigantic in it or not. i just couldn't get a feel for it because of the lack of proper bra.
to make it allll worse, they couldn't do a THING for my fitting, and now my REAL first fitting will be scheduled Jan. 9th!!!!! barely 6 weeks before my wedding!! i'm really upset about my dress and how i'll look in it, i hate having this total insecurity moment, but i just didn't feel gorgeous in it, and i'm hoping that it will get altered correctly in time.
sorry for the long vent. i'm just really sad. i took some pics, but my mom is retarded and can't figure out shiit with a camera. not sure if i should post what i have. i'm almost embarassed to show the pics i feel like a damn cow.
UPDATE: sorry...deleted all the pics so that any 'lurkers' that might know me won't show the pics off to my FH!

Every single previous poster is right. The dress is just a little big on you. You'll go get the right bra, one that's a little lower in the back. The seamstresses will make it perfect! Remember, they do this everyday!
Now, try not stress over this anymore (at least for today ) and have fun at your menu appointment tonight!

The fitter from the store will fix it properly for you. that is what they do for a living and know exactly what to do or they will lose a lot of business if they can't because all brides need alterations. Some a lot and some just a little so they need to know how to do that. Smile it will be fine

Oh no Mel, I'm so sorry! I have to agree w/ Dani that we def. are always our worst critics.....keep in mind that first fittings are always scary b/c the dress isn't perfect yet......it will get there and it will be beautiful....
You know my sister and she had a damn panic attack at her first fitting,remember....' I have buttons on my a**...' (as she proceeded to cry lol) I think it's just natural to feel this way....I know our words might not help & that no one can tell you how you should feel but do keep in the back of you head that IT IS the first fitting & that IT WILL be perfect in the end!!!
I agree you already had it in your head that the dress might not look good before you went. Once the dress has been custom fit for you I'm sure you will feel much better about the gown. Just know that a good bra works wonders for a dress. Just try to envision hair, make-up, veil and the bridal glow you'll have on your special day. It seems like a lot of brides go through this when it gets close to the day it's only natural since there will be tons of guests there to see you but you will be beautiful and your arms look good to me.

awww Mel, it's going to be ok! the bra and the actual alteration will do the trick. you will see. i really love the dress on you. it was a great choice for you. just find the right bra and go for that fitting and you will see it will all work out in the end.

don't worry- my dress did the same EXACT thing - the sticking out in the boobs area- when I went for my first fitting. My seamstress took it in from the SIDE seams, not from the back. She had to to it a couple of times, but in the end it fit perfectly. Your dress is beautiful and you look gorgeous!!

I definitely agree with the other girls. With the right bra and alterations, it will fit perfectly. It's a beautiful dress and you're going to a stunning bride!

this is the part that is bothering me the most...if you notice in this pic--where my skin stops and how far out the front of the dress is.....
they can fix that NO PROBLEM. that is what the fittings are for!!! THey are very experienced.....let them do their job. You are going to be gorgeous. I LOVE your dress!

Have you thought of getting cups sewed in? My dress has a deep V in the front and is a courset, so I can't even wear a bra it's so tight, but they are going to sew thin cups in for some coverage. I'm sure everything will turn out perfectly!

If I had a dime for every bride that has posted that their first fitting was awful I would be rich. These seamstresses/tailors know how to fix everything. They will fix it and you will look beautiful. Please don't worry. It will be perfect.
