A few of us mentioned liking the idea of 'best proposal' so I figured why not start a thread... (not sure if there was one already) where we can all tell our stories so we have something to go on.

*****Well this is not a category for the shower so i figured i should bump**********

Re: 2010 stories

John and I had gone done to Florida for my Grandma's 90th birthday and a semi family reunion. We spent 1 day in Tampa and then went to Orlando to go stay with friends (for 2 days).

We decided on our 1st day (March 31) in Orlando to go to Disney and man, was it brutally hot that day. With the 4 of us miserable, bickering back and forth, deciding where to go eat (Orlando Ale house was the winner which btw is Miller Ale House up here), I noticed FH was just in a really bad mood and very distant. I asked him once if anything was wrong, he said no, and it was dropped.

We went back to Disney when it got dark to watch the fireworks and as we were walking 2 employees approached us and told us we were specially selected to stand in the rose garden away from everyone to watch the fireworks in front of Cinderella's castle and have pictures taken by 1 of their photographers. I actually thought it was BS or a scam so i looked at John and told him to decide. Of course he says yes so as we were being led into there, I kept saying 'what are the odds of this?' knowing my luck.

Well, as we're standing there, the photog was taking pics of the 4 us and then told me & John to pose by ourselves. The photog was directing us on how to pose then asked if there was one more pose John wanted to do. I was confused so John decided to start turning me, so I asked (in my Alyssa snotty tone) what the hell he was doing. He then got down on 1 knee and asked me to marry him! The amount of people that yelled out, 'OMG, he's asking her to marry him!', the cheers, and the clapping was insane there were thousands of people there ) !

This is totally not something I would've expected from my John John. I figured he would've asked me to marry him while he was up on stage playing a show or something to that extent but he planned this whole romantic and extravagant thing! Definitely something I will never forget!

Re: 2010 stories

I threw a surprise birhday party for my FH, Iron Chef style, and invited both our families and all our friends. After he announced the winners of the cooking competition, he proceeded to thank everyone...wonderful friends, family, and girlfriend....'but that doesn't seem like enough anymore.' He got down on one knee right there in f ront of everyone and popped the question...with his grandma's ring. It meant so much for him to realize how important friends and family are to me. Having everyone there to share the excitement was so special...and I didn't have to call anyone

Re: 2010 stories

We went to Paris for our 3 year anniversary. We went to a beautiful park (Jardin du Luxembourg). We were standing looking at all the views and then he turned me around and talked for a few minutes, then got down on his knee in the middle of the park and asked me to marry him. So sweet!!!!!

Re: 2010 stories

After reading all of your stories, I decided to share mine.

We had finally decided to move in together into a new house several months before. I was living in Manhattan and he in Nassau. I was packing my apartment up to move. The movers came and I had moved in for a week to his parents while they finished the last few details on our house. After a week of me no longer living in the city, FH decided that we would spend an evening together in the city to celebrate our first week together before moving into our house. He made reservations to Smith and Wollensky which is one of our fav restaurants and we had a lovely dinner with a bottle of wine (Cake Bread- side note, I remember thinking this was the coolest name for wine). Anyways dinner was awesome and it was totally romantic and intimate. The waiter came over with dessert menus and FH told me he 'needed' the restroom...yeah little did I know! He came back to the table and a few minutes after he sat down this woman came to our table and started playing the violin. I sat there thinking 'wow this is neat' and at the same time thinking 'wait a minute where did she come from, she wasn't here before! I didn't see her playing at any other table!' I was confused but was enjoying the music as FH just sat there admiring her. (SIDE NOTE: for the longest time, well since Father of the Bride came out I have been saying to everyone that when I get married I want to walk down the aisle to the sound of violins playing Canon D...FH knew this and had hired a violinist to come to the restaurant to play just for me)...... okay so now the violinist is playing, I'm thinking this is wierd but okay I'll enjoy this...maybe we're the first table of the night...when all of a sudden FH goes to get up and I see him reach in his jacket pocket and I KNEW....I think I went blank and just started saying and repeating 'what are you doing? what are you doing? what are you doing?' He got down on his knee as the violinist played and asked me to marry him. He opened the box and I said Yes and hugged him. He didn't hear me the first time around because everyone in the restaurant was cheering, so I said YES again and he says to me 'oh ok good, the ring is in the box' and I said 'I see it' and then he said 'oh ok I'll put it on'. I didn't cry right then and there as I was in too much shock. We hugged and kissed and then sat down again. The maitre D' popped a bottle of champagne and finally as I sat down again and looked at my ring I burst into tears. It was so beautiful and so much more than what I ever imagined. Other patrons of the restaurant came up to us to congratulate us and see my ring but I just wanted to call my mom who lives in england and by this point is was 3am in London. FH told me that under no circumstance I could call anyone. I didn't know what was going on. We finished our champagne and FH walked me outside the restaurant. There was a limousine waiting for us and FH told me the night was not over. We got in the limousine and drove all around the city, Central Park, 5th Avenue, Times Square, Empire State Building, etc. It was amazing. We continued to have champagne...I'm a sucker for champagne. After our lovely drive, FH told me to relax and call my family as it would be a while to our next destination. I called family and friends and I still remember my sister screaming and crying from excitement. When I was done with my phone calls, FH told me that he just wanted to make this night extra special and so we were heading out to Jones Beach where we had shared our first I love yous. The limo pulled up to Jones Beach, we stepped out of the limo and sat on the sand drinking champagne under the stars. It was the perfect conclusion to an amazing night.
