A few of us mentioned liking the idea of 'best proposal' so I figured why not start a thread... (not sure if there was one already) where we can all tell our stories so we have something to go on.
*****Well this is not a category for the shower so i figured i should bump**********

Re: 2010 stories
Sure.....I'll start
During an intense game of Rock Band, FH asked when we were exchanging Christmas gifts and told me mine was under the tree. It was a beautiful hand-crafted Disney centerpiece with Mickey Mouse and Pluto riding a sleigh. Now, a little backstory. We had recently moved into our new house, and we were using a spare bedroom for storage. A friend of ours had spent the night the day before, so while I was at work, FH cleared out the bedroom so we could accomodate our friend. Little did he know, his Christmas gift was in a box in that bedroom's closet. When I went to get FH's gift out of the closet, I noticed he had piled all of boxes that were being stored in the bedroom on top of the box with his gift in the closet!. I asked him to help me move the boxes, and as he put one of the boxes down, it had a ring box on it. I stopped in my tracks, saw the box, and said 'What's that???' FH told me it was nothing. I responded with 'No seriously, what is it.' He told me to open it myself and find out.
I opened it and immediately said 'Are you serious???' TH said no and took it back. He took the ring out of the box, and began to put it on my finger, but I noticed he was putting it on my right hand! I quickly corrected him, and after he put the ring on the correct finger, I started hugging and kissing him. It was then that he suddenly said 'So you haven't answered me.' My response was 'You haven't asked me anything.' He looked me dead in the eye and said.... 'So, you wanna?' -------------------------------------------------------------------
LOL that is so cute

Re: 2010 stories
March 28 was our 4 year anniversary....
Friday March 27 - I work for an accounting firm and work Saturday's during tax season I had gotten someone to cover for me on the 28th because I was planning on taking my nieces to take pictures with the easter bunny. The managing partner asked me if I could work because he had a big project. I said I would work but I could not stay all day. It some how got back to him that it was my anniversary. So in front of everyone he comes in saying 'Oh I didnt know you were married' I at first was confused and said I'm not and he was like oh they said its your anniversayr. I said yes it is but we are not married. He contiuned to go on saying that I need to cut him off we have been together 4 years and live together but aren't married. He was telling me what I needed to do to get a ring on my finger!!! Then I had other people chiming in saying well maybe she was going to get engaged tommorow but now your making her work. It was all in good fun even though my face was BRIGHT red!!!
Saturday March 28 - I worked and my sister called me and said she would pick me up and we would go shopping. Fine sounds good to me!!! Then FH says do you want to go out to dinner around 5? To me it was wierd but I said that was good. I get home and we were talking about what we were going to do that night. We planned to go the mall and then go out to dinner. I wanted to sit and relax a little before we went. As we were walking up stairs I said Ohhh do you want your gift. He said of course do you want yours!! He gives me this HUGE box (which I had seen early and kept wondering what he got me.... I thought it was going to be something practical!!! ) I open the box and a balloon that says 'I Love You' on it comes out and on the string of the balloon was a note that said 'Will You Marry Me' the box was filled with purple rose pedals and the ring was in the box. In complete shock I said 'is that for real' the next thing I know he is down on his knee!!! I said YES and I don't want to go out to dinner anymore!!! We ran to my sisters house (they live next door) and the party began everyone we called said OHHH Im coming over!!!
Sorry that is sooo long but I didnt want to leave anything out!!!

Re: 2010 stories
sure..I love sharing this story, and I apologize in advance if its a little long...
My now-fiance, John, and I were in Atlantic City and decided to go out to dinner. We had a wonderful dinner and a pitcher of sangria at Cube Libre. After dinner, we decided to take a walk, but we strangely enough left from the side entrance of the casino. This exit put on a side street in Atlantic City, which seemed a bit 'shady.' As we walked down the block, this random guy hanging out by the wall approaches John and asked him 'do i know you?' Then said 'oh, nevermind.' So, we continued walking. Then, John turns around and tells the guy, 'maybe you do...whats up?'?? I am thinking, 'why is John talking to this stranger???!!!' John starts a conversation with this guy and he learns that the guy has a limo and can give us a ride. I am against the idea of getting in a random car of a stranger we met on a side street in AC, so I tell John NO THANK YOU. But, of course, John keeps talking to him. John asks him how much, and the driver says for $20 he will take us anywhere we want to go. ??I respond to John by saying, 'LETS WALK AWAYYYYYYYYY.' But John wanted to get in the limo with this strange guy. I couldn't understand what was wrong with him. So, of course, i thought if i kept walking away, John would just HAVE TO follow me. So, i walked down the block to the corner...crossed the street...and walked up the block back the boardwalk. This whole time John is still trying to talk to me about the limo and how we should do it. ??Now, bear in mind, at Cuba Libre we did have a pitcher of sangria...so i was seriously beginning to question his judgement. LOL.??
Finally, after i walk up the opposite side of the street, I hear John say, 'its okay Rob, just show her.' Now, John's brother-in-law's name is rob, so i was confused and turned around.?? I turn to find the limo driver holding a dozen roses saying they are for me.?? But, of course, coming from New York City where people commonly try to sell roses in restaurants and on the street, I really didnt want part of this. So, i told the shady limo guy 'NO THANK YOU.' I continued to try to keep on walking away, but ??this time, John cornered me. Finally, John told the limo driver to turn the flowers around.
THANK GOODNESS, John wrote a note and put it in an envelope with MY NAME ON IT that was ATTACHED TO the flowers. ??Once i saw that, a 'lightbulb' went off in my head and i was like oooooooooooooo.... I felt a bit foolish, and I got in the limo.
In the limo, ??we drove around AC. John told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend his life with me and proposed with a BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT ring. We then opened champagne to celebrate and soon after told our parents the good news!??

Re: 2010 stories
Our story is not the greatest...it was supposed to be on our 1 year anniversary but because of FSIL drama it got bumped up...then he BCC'd me on an email (we were having drama with his church getting all up in our business and telling him that he wasn't doing the right thing by being with me and stuff) so he emailed them to say to back off his junk, and there was nothing they could do because he loved me and was flying to NY that very weekend to propose...soooo I knew it was coming.
So technically he actually flew in to take me to a coworker's wedding...so we went to the wedding (and it was pretty terrible) and my coworker had been going on and on about how she hoped it happened at her wedding...and I guess if it had been a nice wedding it would have but I was annoyed the whole night because the DJ was too loud and the food was terrible so I was cranky and hungry lol.
So we go home and I'm b!tching about how my feet hurt and I want to go upstairs and he's standing in my kitchen and he just says 'can you come here for a minute?' and I walk over and he gives me this big kiss and then sinks down to one knee and says 'Ilana, will you marry me?' I smiled and starting tearing up and shook my head 'yes' but I said 'no'...because that's just my personality and I'm a jerk like that hahaha (also, my Mom did the same thing to my Dad as a joke so I felt I should keep the tradition going :-P) Then after like 3 seconds I said yes and we were engaged and my parents got home 10 min later and we toasted with creamsicle ice pops.
The End.

Re: 2010 stories
It was a Saturday and he was picking my up from college. We were driving to the bank and all of a sudden he starts to randomly talk about getting married. I think nothing of it and go a long with it. So on the drive to my house he keeps asking me what if I asked you to marry me today? and again I think nothing of it. Then out of nowhere he pulls the car over almost hitting a fire hiderant. He grabs my hand and I didnt pay attention because I though he was joking around by slipping my promise ring he gave me in high school on and off. So I glance and literally do a double take when I saw the engagment ring on my finger. Then he asked me 'Will you marry me'?. I was so shocked that I kept on asking him if I said Yes!.

Re: 2010 stories
It was Sunday June 29, 2008
I woke up really early because I had to take a dance workshop ( I am a dancer) and i've been taking a dance workshop for the whole weekend. My body was really sore. I went to my workshop and all of a sudden is downstairs waiting for me in his car. I was so happy because this workshop was in Williamsburg Brooklyn and it was a long ride to my house.
FH was really sweet he was waiting patiently and told me he was going to take me to the Bronx Zoo. I immediately felt soo much better I forgot how much my body was aching and said LETS DO IT!. The Bronx Zoo is a very special place for Marcel and I. During the times of trouble in our relationship we once went there and we had such a great time together that we fell inlove all over again with each other.
Once in the Bronx Zoo we walked in and started looking at the cute animals. I was getting a bit tired and I mentioned this to FH. He then took me to the Dancing Crane Cafe to have some snacks. He seemed really quiet and I was like what's going on. After finishing the meal Marcel and I went and walk a bit more and all of a sudden I felt that Marcel was pulling me. (This was because h had invited his and my family to the Bronx Zoo and there they were) He didn't want me to see them so he pulled me so hard that I slipped lol.
After walking for a bit more he told me 'lets go to the butterfly garden' I said YAY let's go. The place is gorgeous. filled with flowers and butterflies. There in that room!! he started telling me the sweetest things ever. I had my back towards the door so I couldn't see anything. All of a sudden he turns me around and there I see my whole family and his whole family. I got really shaky and started crying soo much. He got down on his (left knee) lol and his brother yield RIGHT KNEE!!! he quickly corrected himself and then the asked me to be his wife. It was so romantice. All the butterflies, the pretty flowers and our beautiful family there. He had the ring half in my finger and I hadn't say yes yet!. So my first response was I HAVEN'T SAID YES YET! lol It was totally amazing and I will never forget it
YEA YEA long story lol

Re: 2010 stories
We are big Disney people. We tend to go to Disney atleast twice a year. It was our big December trip and we had a lot of things planned. We went to dinner on December 11, 2007 and it was our fancy dinner (we always get dressed up atleast once) We ate dinner and ordered desert and then I see a whole group of people walking towards our table. The put down a platter of flowers with a glass slipper in the middle and in the slipper was my ring! FH got down on one knee in front of the restaurant and asked me to marry him. After dinner we went to the Magic Kingdom and he showed me a brick in the walkway that he bought a few months before that has our names and the date we got engaged.

Re: 2010 stories
I must say FH did a great job. (sorry if so long!)
I moved into the city when I graduted, but FH lived on LI. When we decided to move in together it made more sense to move into his place on LI. (hello tiny rented studio vs huge 2 bdrom co-op). I was devestated when I moved and everyday after. I cried hugging my doorman good bye.
So flash-foward 8 months and I still continue to comment how I miss the city. So we go out one thursday night to meet up with his friend who is a DJ at Cielo. I stayed in city and met a friend for dinner (I actually complained during dinner that FH hasn't proposed yet!) and FH met me after. We both took off of work the next day but I was so tired we left around midnight. On the way to the tunnel FH starts talking about my old apartment and thinks it would be hilarious if we stop by to see who is working. I try to tell him no, but he doesnt listen and pulls up right in front of the building and runs into the lobby before i can take off my seat belt. So I chase after him and chat with my old doorman (hello -- awkward!) and then we leave. As we are about to get into the car, in the middle of the sidewalk he stops, and starts talking about when I moved in with him and how he was so happy. He knew I was sad and what a sacrafice I made moving to LI. He says how he hates that when I walk passed my building I get upset and sad about leaving my friends and my city life and he never wants me to be sad, instead he wants me to see my old apt building and remember the night he asked me to marry him!
As he is saying the words, he is on one knee and putting a ring on my finger. I was crying and shaking so hard I couldn't speak.
(As I am typing this I am crying!)
We didnt go home after that. He took me to the W on 50th and it was decorated with rose petals, champagne. He even packed an overnight bag for me!

Re: 2010 stories
was working in the city until 5pm on the 23rd of December. My original plan for that night was to go home, finish Christmas shopping, wrap some gifts, and eat dinner. Nothing out of the ordinary. I was actually thinking of leaving early because I wasn't feeling too well. Steve on the other hand, had other plans. Earlier in the day, he emailed me to let me know he was taking a 1/2 day at work, will meet me in the city, and wants to go see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. Since I had things I needed to do at home that evening i originally said no, especially since it was the first really cold day of the year. After a 1/2 hour of bickering back and forth i finally gave in since he said we will only be there for a few minutes.
When I got to Rockefeller Center he was nowhere to be found. After 20 minutes of waiting outside, in the freezing cold, I was obviously, and understandably, becoming a tad upset. He finally showed up and we walked around the tree as planned. We walked to the front, by the ice skating rink, and I somehow pushed my way through to the front. We stood there for a few moments and he pulled out 1 single, red, long stem oragami rose. (He made me a dozen for our first Valentine's Day together!) He proceeded to say, 'Remember when you said that when I gave you the oragami roses you started to fall in love with me at that exact moment? Well, here is one more. I hope that with this one you will love me for the rest of your life.' At that moment when i realized what was happening I became very nervous and had a hard time looking at him. He got down on one knee, pulled out the ring box, opened it up and said, 'Adriana Scott, will you marry me.' The next few minutes are a blur. Apparently I didn't say anything and he had to say, 'Adriana...'. Of course i said yes, or rather 'yeeeeaaah....'.
The next thing out of my mouth was, 'We gotta get home, eat dinner and tell my mom!' Turns out we weren't going home. Steve made dinner reservations at our favorite Italian restaurant in the city. From what Steve tells me I was skipping down the streets of NY and when we got to the restaurant he had a dozen red roses delivered to our table. (I don't remember the skipping part.) As most of you know, this is when the mass text messages went out. I was so excited i don't remember what I ate and had a hard time reading the menu, both very unlike me.
Everything about the proposal was perfect and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Yes, my mom was the first person I called and she is thrilled and cannot wait!

Fh and I 'met' at the St. Gregs fair the summer going into senior year of high school...
...when we started talking about getting married we thought about getting married at St. Gregs church (since thats where we met) and decided that we should go to mass there and see how we liked the church...
....a few weeks later, we were running our saturday morning errands and we were about to pass the church. He suggested ,since we were right there, to stop and check it out. As we walked he started reminiscing about how we started and then said he had a surprise for me....he took out the ring and i just started balling and hugging him....i was sooooo surprised and sooo happy that he did it in a way that I would least expect it bc at the time we were together for 8 yrs
awww. so sweeeet. are you gettin married at that church too????

Re: 2010 stories
April 12 2010... After a long year of chemotherapy treatments and surgeries engagement was the last thing on my mind. Fh and I went to DIsney world for a vacation. The second day we were there was Easter Sunday. We got up early and had breakfast with the characters at Chef Mickeys Fh forgot his phone in the car when we got to the resturant so he turned around and ran back to the car. He was acting all funny during breakfast I couldn't figure it out. After breakfast we went to the Magic Kingdom for our first trip to the parks. We took the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom and boy did Chris look sick. I kept asking him if he was feeling okay and he kept insisting he was fine. We waited on a forever long line to get on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. FH is now sweating bullets and I am asking him if I need to take him to the hospital. He replies no. We get to the Magic Kingdom and because I am who I am I wanted to have my picture taken with these girls in silly dresses. At this point FH is getting a little ticked at me because he had plans and a time schedule I was keeping him from adhering to. So after we took the picture we are walking down Main Street in the Magic Kingdom and being my silly self I am singing and joking around and FH not finding any of this funny. I asked him if we can stop at a photographer for a picture of us with the castle behind us he then snaps and says I am not waiting on a line to have my picture taken. As we continue to walk down Main St I find a photographer who doesn't have a line and force him to have his picture taken and boy does he look nervous. The whole time I still think he is getting sick and I am oblivious to the whole thing. I then make him stop on Main St to watch a show with dancers. Then we start walking towards tomorrowland. As we are walking over the bridge all of a sudden now he is interested in getting our picture taken and I am too busy yapping about his behavior in disney and how he should be like woooo hoooo disney He responds low and annoyed woo hoo disney. He then says hey look there are photographers over here lets have our picture taken so my typical response is well I thought you didn't want to wait on line for pictures there is a line we will come back later. He then insists we stop.He walks over to a photographer in regular clothing and says to him Hello Dean my name is Chris and this is my girlfriend Suzanne I was wondering if you could take some pictures of us. This didn't phase me in the least knowing that he is FFIL's son and thats how he operates. Now for those of you who are disney people you know that the photo pass photographers wear those khacki outfits and if they are not in those clothes dont ask them. Well the photographer proceeds to tell us that he is shooting a family privately but they are running late so he can take some shots of us while he waits. So he then tells me to stick with him because he makes things happen Next thing I know I am standing on the grass in disney and I am so excited so we take about 5 pictures and he says lose the shades At this point I am yapping about my coach sunglasses. Now he asks us if we have any poses we would like and FH says he does and he drops to a knee. At which point I RUN AWAY. I did come back and he proposed and of course I said YES!! Fh told me he knows how I believe in fairy tales and after the year we have had I deserve my happily ever after. This is a year of celebration in disney and we have ALOT TO CELEBRATE especially my health. He then told me how much he loved me and a few other things and then asked me if I would do him the honor of marrying him. I CANT BELIEVE I GOT ENGAGED IN DISNEY IN FRONT OF THE CASTLE AND HAVE A PHOTO SHOOT OF THE WHOLE THING.I am marrying the best man in the whole world.
