2014 Brides 'Official Weight Loss & Keep It Off' Thread

Hi Ladies. I know some of us talked about having an official weight loss thread, so here it is. I think we should start by introducing ourselves, how much we want to lose, how we plan to do it, etc.

I guess I'll start.

I'm Kristin, 25. I am a Weight Watchers Lifetime member, I lost 30 lbs last year. I've gained about 10 back & want to get them off ASAP before I gain it all back like I have in the past. The winter is the hardest time for me to stay on track. My true issue with weight loss is exercise. I HATE IT!! I can never get into it & that is my goal this year. To lose the weight & get toned. My overall goal is to lose 10 lbs & feel comfortable in a bikini. I haven't worn one since high school.

I think each week we should post our weight loss/gain & what we are doing to stay active.

We can do this ladies with the support of each other!

This is great!
I'm Marie, 28. I'm also a WW lifetime member. I've lost a total of 17 pounds but I'm looking to lose another 5 and I'll be happy. During the holidays I went a little overboard with the wine and cheese! Today I got back to work and started tracking right away. I also have the Active Link which I plan on using religously.
What day do you normally weigh in? I weigh in on Thursdays so I have the weekend to use my extra 49 points.

I usually weigh in on Sunday Mornings, this way I can use some of my extra points on sunday afternoon while we watch football. We have family over every sunday for football & food so I like to use my points then :) I'll post my first weigh in sunday :)

You would think that my wedding would be motivation for me to lose weight but it doesnt stop me from eating :( i eat when im bored, i love food to much. I also despise excerising.. i hate going to the gym.. Im desperate at this point to lose weight but its a mental game...i start something and as soon as it starts to get hard i quit :(

Hi! My name is Jaime, I am 26 and I have tried EVERY diet. I have battled with my weight since I was a child and had conquered it not to long ago. I had lost about 60 pounds and was feeling phenomenal with myself. Once I met my now FH, we were going out to dinner a lot and over the past 2 years I have probably put on about 25 pounds and now I feel gross and unhappy with my body. I have recently started WW (prior to the holidays) and had a very successful week. The holidays came and I went off track but as of yesterday got right back to it. My FH and I are both in it together we did an initial weigh in at home, stocked up on healthy, low point foods and we track our points daily. We are looking for a lifestyle change. We are getting married in almost a years time and I feel confident that I can accomplish my weight loss goals before the big day! My issue with food is MENTAL. If I see something, I want it. I over eat, and just love to indulge. I have realized this is unhealthy eating habits and we don't want to continue this type of unhealthy eating any longer and are really committed to making a change. So far so good and we take one day at a time. We don't exercise either so we have also committed to walking each evening. Even if it is 10 minutes, it is more than we have done before. Thank you for making this thread as it will make me feel more accountable which will in turn make me stay on track!!

Best of luck to all you ladies. We can do it! MIND OVER MATTER. We got this :)

I could have written this myself, however I was hesitant to switch to point plus & I am glad I did. There is a reason they changed the program & its because it works. Its hard to stick to something, I struggle with that too. I envy people who don't love food like I do. Some days I wish I was picky lol

Hi, my name is Chrissy, I am 23 years old. Thanks for starting this thread, GREAT idea! I am a Weight Watcher member. Last year I lost about 30 pounds, but the summer and winter activities that revolve around food brought a lot of it back! As of this morning, I am tracking once again! I would like to be back to my 30 pounds down by mid-February, say Valentines Day? By the summer, I would LOVE for my total to be about 45 pounds down. I plan on dress shopping in the summer, and I would love to cry some happy tears in that dressing room!! My struggle is my passion for food. Food is fun, love, and happiness to me! WW is a great program for me because it doesn't ask me to give that up, just to think about what I am actually putting in my body.

Thought you ladies might like this-- I swear by this grocery list from Dr. Oz. I have fun at the grocery store picking out my favorites and I feel good about my choices! http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/100-foods-dr-oz-wants-your-shopping-cart

Hi, I'm Lori and I'm 26 years old. I did Weight Watchers in February 2011 and lost 10 pounds, but fell off of it quickly and gained it back, and then some. As of July 4th, I was 154.8 pounds and have since gone down to 138ish. While I'm thrilled to have lost 15 pounds already, I would ideally like to lose another 20. I'm taking baby steps and will be happy to lose another 10 pounds as I feel I've plateaued.

Because of a second job I took in December, I've also fallen out of my exercise routine, something that REALLY bothers me as I had been working out at 4-5 days a week for 4 months straight. I didn't gain any weight back, but I lost all my fitness. I know I just need to jump back into it. I'd like to try Insanity for a second time.

I'm Katie. I'm 24. I had gastric bypass surgery 5.16.2011... I'm down about 180lbs. I'd like to lose about another 20 to get down under 150. FH and I just joined a gym together and are figuring out a work out schedule. I'm also planning to get plastic surgery prior to my wedding due to the extra skin :)

I plan on training for a HM before my surgeries as well as doing two bike tours (a 40mile tour and a 100mile tour) with the FH <3

Hi Ladies, My name is Jenette, I'm 28 years old and I LOVE working out....once I am there, lol. I lost about 10 pounds for my best friends wedding in May and gained it all back. I enjoy running but hate the cold. My downfall is carbs & sugar, I don't eat terrible but its hard to as i don't eat meat. I work 3 jobs(1 full time and 2 part time, so I don't have as much time to go to the gym. I am open to suggestions, my ultimate goal would be to be 150, i haven't seen that weight since I've been with my FH.

...boy does love make us gain weight!!!

Hi girls,
I'm Jennifer, I'm 24 and let me say thank you for starting this. I have never been happy with my weight. There have been times where I was heavier, not too heavy, but still felt blah!! Once I started high school and was more active, my body was in amazing shape. I then went to college and well we all know what happens when you go away to college- 5 nights a week of drinking and late night fast food runs!! It killed me!! My roommates bodies all handled it well which drove me nuts because I gained a ton. Sophomore year of college I had a cyst removed from my jaw. Couldn't eat solids for 2 weeks= great diet. Some of the weight came back. Junior year of college, had my tonsils removed= great diet!! Senior year was when my weight really killed me and I was 165lbs- my heaviest! I began to exercise 5 days a week for an hour a day, and no weight lost over an 8 month period. I came to find out I had gallbladder failure which was causing my weight gain. With my gallbladder out, I lost 35 lbs as of March 2011. I'm now almost 2 years later and I have since put on 12 lbs which has killed me!!!!

I'm so happy that you girls started this!! I have had so many health issues recently and I really need to be on a good path and be healthy and at a healthy weight!!!

Re: 2014 Brides 'Official Weight Loss & Keep It Off' Thread

Hi everyone!

I'm Alyssa and I'm 24 years old. I'm currently at my heaviest, and my goal is to lose 15-20lbs before the wedding. I'm trying my best not to focus on the actual number and instead just be concerned with how I feel and what is healthy for my body.

I can relate to some of you about how I just despise working out, it is the worst. It's hard for me to get motivated to go on my own too, I could really use a gym buddy to get me off the couch.

My weakness is carbs, I can't get enough! What I have been doing lately in addition to going to the gym is cutting my portions in half. I have an issue with portion control and this seems to be helping. I used to just eat whatever portion I would make, (usually huge), but now I take half and put it in tupperware to eat for lunch the next day. I'm not starving so I clearly was eating way more than necessary. And I really need to up my water intake, I'm definitely not drinking enough.

I tried insanity and lasted to weeks, it was KILLING my ankles with all the jumping. I want to try to work it in with my gym routine now too since I actually liked some of the videos, I just couldn't do them everyday.

Best of luck to all you ladies! Let's stay motivated!

2014 Brides

This is awesome thanks for starting such a great post.

I'm Kristen I am 27 I was at my heaviest weight a few months ago. I was skinny my whole life until about almost 2 years ago I started packing on lbs pretty rapidly with no diet or activity changes. I developed a thyroid issue and have since been on medication for it but hasn't done squat for the weight. I used to work out 7 days a week and diet. Didn't lose a lb so I stopped working out and gained even more. Since the wedding will come before I knew it I decided once and for all I am going to do this and no matter how many times I fail I will not quit. I have researched a lot of lifestyle changes to find what would work for me the best. I found that the alkaline diet sort of suited me but I took it and made it my own. If anyone knows the alkaline diet its really hard so I encorporated the premise of that lifestyle into something I can maintain along with just common sense healthy eating. I should mention I'm a vegetarian which helps when following alkaline so that part was easy for me. I also use myfitnesspal.com to write down everything I eat and keep track of calories, protien, carbs ect. It made me realize that something I thought was healthy in a days eating really put me over the edge in calorie intake and carbs. If you aren't writing down what you are eating I highly suggest it. It really keeps you on track. myfitnesspal.com is free which is even better. I love food and I have learned that I can still love tasty food and have it healthy. Also learning real portions. Back in my skinny days I could eat endlessly and never gain a pound so was a big change learning to scale it back to what a portion is lol. I have since lost 12lbs. I want to lose about 40lbs more to get to my goal weight. Though the holidays were a real struggle. I have the mentality of it its there I have a hard time resisting it. Also a really bad habit I was doing over the holidays was if I eat it all it won't be here for me to eat later lol. Suprisingly even with the cheating I only gained 4lbs back. I am getting back on track no more cheating. I do allow an indulgent meal here and there for special occassions but not to get right back the next meal. I am like many of you where working out I really can't find the motivation to do it. Like Brads Girl said you would think our weddings would be enough to motivate us, yet I still find myself on the couch reading a book or watching tv when I should be working out. I like this one site that one of my bridesmaids is doing with me its the sisterhood of the shrinking jeans. They put up monthly calendars of exercises to do 6 days a week. They are fairly quick and sending a txt to each other when we completed that day. She always completes it so it motivates me to do it as well. Today's was pretty easy 7 push up 15 sit ups 1.15 sec plank. Each day you go up in reps or mins and at the end of the month they get harder but the 1st of the month starts a whole new work out so no boredom. I am also starting couch to 5k again I was going really good before the holidays and then holidays just took over. I also weigh in on Sunday mornings that way I am not tempted to indulge on friday and saturdays. I want to wish you ladies best of luck. We can do this. Sweat for the dress!

Hey Ladies,
I'm Roseann--and I'm a serial dieter! I constantly lose and gain large amounts of weight. Two years back, I lost 80 pounds and managed to lose self control and gain it all back (and some). Recently my FH and I started eating healthy for our vacation--I lost 15 and he lost 30. Once we got on the cruise ship it went downhill. We got engaged, we were going out with friends and family to celebrate, and I'm right back where I started.
I plan on using myfitnesspal.com and the app to help. I used it when I lost the first 80 lbs and it really helped. I want to lose at least 15-20 by our engagement party in March.
By our wedding I want to have lost 80 lbs +. It will be hard but I know I can do it and so can everyone else here :) We have to look good in our dresses and be healthy for our husbands!
