Re: 2014 Brides 'Official Weight Loss & Keep It Off' Thread
for once I am posting on here and actually feel proud of myself! I went a whole day yesterday without any bread, rice, pasta, cookies, candy, etc. (I am trying to go Low Carb, still eating fruits and vegetables though)It was great. I cant believe I actually did it. I stayed full by eating more proteins. I'm attempting it again for day 2! (which is going to be very hard because I am going to the Islanders Game tn) I also went for my first run this morning since last summer (omg that is so bad
) I was able to run one mile straight and continued another mile mainly running with a little walking thrown in. Overall im really proud of myself. I also completed day 7 of the 30 day squat challenge. I hope this is a change for something positive!

WOW! That is so impressive! I am very jealous of your running capabilities after not running since the summer!! I usually can't make it more than 5-7 minutes!

I am with you on the no carbs things (other than beer lol). I am trying to incorporate more protein and veggies into my diet, and really stay away from processed foods. Good luck at the Islanders game tonight - those hot pretzels are hard to resist!!!

The disappointment I felt trying dresses on is what keeps me from being really bad. Granted this week was that time of the month and it was a bad week for me but considered that I cheated I was just like whatever about it didn't beat myself up but also didn't let the one thing I ate snowball into the whole day. I actually managed to lose .6lbs this week :) which is big for me I have PCOS and a slow thyroid so losing weight is really hard so more than a half a pound in a week is great. I am just hoping I can continue from here. What usually happens is I gain 2-4lbs back and fight the battle all over again. I finally am under 150 not by much but it makes me feel better. So I am using this as motivation to push through and to keep going. We can do this ladies. MrsMango I tried to do day 1 of the squat challenge and wanted to cry. I am apparently not fit enough to attempt that yet. I will get there that is a goal of mine. MrsPy don't focus on the bad or look at it as failure take it and use that energy as motivation it is hard but weight loss is never easy if it were we all wouldn't be battle off lbs right now.
This first sentence is why I decided to actually start looking at gowns a few months earlier than I wanted to. I originally wanted to hold off because I'm not happy with my weight, but then I thought what a great motivator (for me at least). That's totally taking something negative and turning it into something positive!
I didn't even want to try on dresses yet cause I wanted to lose weight first but my maid of honor convinced me just to try on dresses just to get an idea. Well I am glad I did cause it put things in perspective and I just think okay I don't want that on my wedding day so it helps motivate myself. I think turning a negative into a positive is the best way to go when it comes to weight loss.
We have smart MOHs - my MOH is the exact reason why I'm going the first weekend of May! Too funny! I'm not beyond excited :)
I also agree, you gotta turn that negative into a positive. It's not easy to do, but when I do do it, it's been helping me with my self-sabotage!
We definitely do! I wasn't thrilled either but looking back I am glad I did it. Since then the scale has gone down 3lbs and I have lost an inch off my stomach so it's slow but at leas it's a loss and not a gain and hopefully the next time I try on dresses I will only look better.
I found it really good against self sabotage, just when I am about to possibly eat something I shouldn't I think of what I looked like and have some water or fruit or something else or I work out.
MrsAMango that is awesome! I can't cut out carbs since I am a vegetarian I get some of my nutrients form healthy carbs along with protein from good healthy grains. I don't eat processed white breads and pastas. When I do eat bread it is whole wheat or ezeikel bread. Brown rice never white, quinoa, barley, bulgar, polenta and I do the same for pasta plus I limit pasta to once a week if that. That is usually a big slip up in a vegetarian diet is eating a lot of carbs. That's another reason I love myfitnesspal.com I can track everything. Also very impressed MrsMango I have been trying to work on being able to run a mile still not there yet I am about half way.

The scale isn't moving much but my body is definitely changing. I'm on week 7 of couch to 5k and running for 25 minutes without feeling like I'm dying!

So I finally went to the gym for the first time after I signed up in the beginning of April. Since it was my first time there I got a free one hour session and they told me my fat index (I guess that is what it was called). Well I never considered myself to be way way over weight until they told me I was a point away from being risky! If you want something to motivate you, that machine will do it! HOLY COW! Anyway, I am probably now going to get a personal trainer at least once a month (which really is a waste). I just know that if i don't have accountability then I will never go! I am just really concerned with the price on my budget. What do you ladies think. Should I just cough up the dough so that I could lose the amount of lbs I want in a year or just see how much i can motivate and do on my own?

I say do it, I'm the same way, if I don't have accountability I won't go. It's worth it if it makes you stick to it and get the results you want. I always say I waste money on other junk all the time why not something that will benefit me. But if its too pricey maybe consider getting a gym buddy?? It's the same affect without the dough, lol

Go ladygoodman! I fell off my couch to 5k wagon I have been dealing with a couple health issues the past week or so. I want to get back where I left off last tonight but I am once again dying of a migraine. I hope it goes away so I can run later. I find ways to hold myself accountable. Like I make deals with myself like I can't buy any new clothes until I hit a weight goal. Which I am almost at my first one so hopefully I can buy next size down when I do. The trying on of the wedding dress was more than enough motivation for me.

Migraine are the worst and for me if they are really bad I am just absolutely miserable and feel like I might get sick feeling. So the migraine went away enough so I did couch 2 5k I started with a week 2 session just to ease myself back into before getting back into week 3. I lost weight this past week so I want to continue with that since it is coming off slowly. also fh and I have a ton of birthdays and functions coming up. Fh birthday is next Monday and then mine is two weeks later. I have surgery next month and I think that alone might cause me to lose weight (obviously not in a healthy way and probably gain it all back afterwards but I want to push a little bit harder cause I am sort of finally seeing results. I can fit into an old pair of pants. Not my goal pants but a smaller size fat pair of pants lol. I am noticing shirts are fitting better. I still have a lot to go 39-35 more lbs but I will get there unfortunately is it slow but once I am here it will be worth it.MrsPry do you have any pictures of yourself at your goal weight or in your wedding dress. Any time I am about to let myself fall off I have pictures all over of when I was skinny and of my dress so it has made a difference. I really wanted desert yesterday looked at my dress pic and was like nah not that bad so instead I cut up strawberries and bananas and topped with a little bit of whipped cream (really yummy) and was still under my calorie intake for the day. You will get there you just have to want it for yourself and give yourself tools that will help you stick with it. I fell off my workout wagon but I got right back on. I noticed I feel better energy wise and health wise when I work out vs when I don't. You can do this.

So ladies, today I made it into the gym. Do you ever feel that the people at the gym might be judging you if you don't stay there for a certain amount of time? I go and I always feel that I need to stay longer just to convince people that I am there to lose weight! I hate that!

Between work and school, I've been left with no time to go running :(. I work over at JFK airport, and I've had a few people tell me to bring sneakers and run in terminal I'm at. Could you imagine - haha!

Between what is going on in Boston and the airport security on high I can not imagine that would go well.
I stopped going to gyms because I always felt like I was judged and I was also bad at going regularly so decided to save myself money. I just workout at home with youtube videos and podcasts.

That's why I go to Lucille Roberts. All women and a lot of them are older so it always looks like I;m doing a great workout!

I love all the positivity lately! We can do this ladies :)So today was my official weigh-in day. I seriously started running and eating better the very end of March, and I'm almost down a total of 10lbs. I just feel so good - so much more energy!
Plus I got hit on at work the other day - that stuff NEVER happens to me. So I got even more motivation :) I'll celebrating by a night out with friends clubbing in the city tomorrow night - gonna dance off some more pounds!

Just finished week 7 of couch to 5k and yesterday I had on a pair of jeans I couldn't close a month ago! I also saw there is a 5k to 10k app. I may try that in two weeks when couch to 5k is done. Keep it up ladies! We got this!
