For all my runners I just got back to running I had to restart c25k all over again since I had to stop for my surgery and recovery. I think I went to hard to fast yesterday and aggravated my sciatic nerve. Does anyone know if I should continue to try to run or wait for it to go away.
Running hurt isn't smart.
Thanks I am going to let it rest and see how I feel hopefully it will go away quick so I can resume working out.

Also, protein protein protein! Have you tried any supplement drinks from GNC?I've tried protein drinks from the gym but most of them are dairy based (I know, weird) and I'm lactose too so it makes it that much harder. I'll stop by there on Saturday and see if I can find one that's soy based.
Chippster7 have you asked your doctor about a healthy way to gain weight possible a medication for the colitis? I have used sparkepeople before it is free you can set it for vegetarian/dairy free/ gluten free it gives you a meal plan you can start there and try to follow it. Also almond cheese is actually pretty good. I try to limit my dairy consumption and I have made mac and cheese with healthy brown rice pasta or quinoa.
I've actually been on a medication for it before but the colitis I have bounces back and forth between IBS and actual full blown colitis. So, when it's IBS, I get taken off the medication and when it's colitis, I go back on it which I think is just stupid because the medication obviously works if I am able to go back and forth. Thanks for the tip about the diet! That mac and cheese sounds amazing!! Do you know if there's mac and cheese with fake cheese that's still healthy?

Just got back from my morning run, and I'm so proud of my little lungs. I quit smoking 3 years ago and I feel them getting better and better every day. I still struggle with breathing when I run but it's really amazing how much it's improved since I started.I've also improved my running time! Seriously if anyone needs a motivation boost 'Map My Run' iPhone app is so great. And you can add friends and use other people's running routes.
I weighed in this morning and I'm down to 141. Not drastic, but it's still loss. I've been so bloated the past 2 weeks and my water weight put me up to 144, but I'm happy to see my real number again.
Progress:
12/12: 163lb
04/13: 148lb
05/13: 143lb
06/13: 141lb

Ok ladies! Worked out two days in a row! I am so proud of myself. My sister got my a$$ up again this morning. She was a division II soccer player & she finally is home & now is taking her soccer training skills out on me! haha. She had me literally running the track and up & down the stairs of the bleachers at my high school! lets see if I can walk tomorrow

I just did my first day of c25k (couch to 5k) I made FH do it with me and it was so hard and so good at the same time!! (I also did Zumba at the gym this morning)
Good for you! Keep it up! And I love Zumba..it tricks me into thinking I'm not exercising lol

So FH & I have gone to the gym MWF and that has been our routine and now we are on week 2 of c25k and he has to work late so compromising and going to the gym tomorrow. This may seem so minor and like a DUH moment to some but for Fh & I this would just be an excuse to fall off the wagon, 2 weeks in and we are definitely committed!!
great job! keep it up!
Great job! I found that once I got into a routine with going to the gym I found it harder to make excuses not to go lol

2 weeks into diet and exercise and I haven't lost anything. I originally was down 5 then back up 2.5 and have remained there so all in all been fluctuating 2.5 pounds for months. This makes me so over it! Ugh
dont quit! what diet plan are you following? are you seriously tracking everything you put in my mouth. i tend to cheat![]()
Oh I have been RELIGIOUSLY tracking like not one thing has entered my mouth without being in the counter.![]()
I am about to say F it and get back to it once I come back from FL.
dont quit! you'll be more disappointed in yourself.
ITA! Hang in there. Sometimes it takes a bit to lose weight once you start regularly exercising.

So, not only am I joining this late, but I'm also joining for a slightly different reason that I hope you ladies don't get too annoyed with. My name is Dani and I'm 21 years old. I was diagnosed with colitis about four years ago which makes it very difficult to gain weight if you have terrible impulse control like me. I know what I need to eat and how much weighing about 100 pounds at 5'3' makes me feel horribly about myself, but that doesn't stop me from stuffing my face with everything in sight. Even the occasional fainting from my complete lack of ability to watch my diet hasn't stopped me. My weaknesses are McDonald's, Smash Burger (which is literally right down the road from me), and fast food in general. I'm also lactose intolerant which I seem to be better about (except when it comes to ice cream in the summer or mac and cheese). So, I was hoping from this board I could get some suggestions about how to keep on my diet and motivation to actually stay on it so I can gain about 15 pounds and become healthier in general before my wedding without annoying too many of you ladies. I also don't want to be so tiny that people (besides my FH) pick me up at my wedding and I also don't want to be stuck in the bathroom for an hour or passing out on my wedding day. Sorry if I irritated anyone! :)
Getting healthy is the same whether it's losing weight or gaining weight! Try eating healthy fats like avocados, nuts, peanut butter and fruits that are more dense like bananas, and pineapples as opposed to watermelon and berries. Also, protein protein protein! Have you tried any supplement drinks from GNC?
Welcome to the boards! We're not annoyed lol...we're all here to get healthy
I agree about the nuts/avocados/peanut butter. This may sound like a weird suggestion, but have you tried supplementing your diet with ensure shakes? I believe they have one for gaining weight. I'm not sure if there's dairy in it though.

I'm glad you got clearance to go back to working out, but you definitely don't want to seriously injure yourslf. You'd probably end up not being to exercise for weeks if you did that. Feel better!

Hi ladies. Sorry for all of the posts. I've been MIA from the boards so it was great catching up and see all the progress everyone was making! I finished week 4 of C25K! I've been doing the program on a treadmill at the gym. I went running outside for the first time today and it kicked my @$$!! Does anyone else find running outside to be more tiring than running on a treadmill or is it all in my head?

Thats so funny, I find the treadmill to be worse. I guess it's just what we are used to & once we change it up we feel like we are gonna die

Thanks I am letting it rest a day before I go back to running. I definitely find it much harder to run outside. You have the elements and the terrain that are way different from a treadmill that you control the speed from a machine not your own muscles. I think that's how I injured myself is I did a full out sprint when I went back to it I didn't do my baby slow jog to ease back into it. Hopefully it will go away and I can get back to it. Way to go on getting to week 4.

You can check whole foods they might have one I make mine from scratch using almond cheese. and I cook the pasta or quinoa as instructed and make my own cheese sauce.

cj52514- Thanks! I have and I love the way they taste. I drank them constantly when I was younger but I'm pretty sure that even though they have dairy in it, they have ones that don't have as much.bridejackson22- Awesome suggestion about Whole Foods! They probably have a million things I can eat all in one store! Thanks :)

Hang in there I have had many many weeks were I didn't lose or just lost .2 or even gained so just hang in there. I tweeked around my diet a lot and it is easier for me in the summer cause produce is more readily available. I am eating very light. Lots of water, salads, smoothies. Just stick with it your body probably just hit a plateau it is normal. Try tweeking your diet or workout routine a bit.
