Thanks Kristin and Camille! I guess I've always been intimidated by the idea of running, like there's no way I could do it. My brother has run marathons and I've always secretly envied that. About 10 years ago, I took a physical exam for a city job (it was 3/4 mile in 7 minutes) and I couldn't do it, even with my half-run/half-walk. I finished like 3rd to last and felt like a total loser.

So, with the many times I've joined a gym (and gotten bored and subsequently quit) in the past, I've stuck with the elliptical or the step-climber machines. I recently joined Retro Fitness in Syosset and they have different cardio machines than Planet Fitness (my former gym that I rarely attended lol), which was nice. I tried the Lateral X elliptical yesterday (you move side to side in addition to the normal range of motion) and I could only do 10 minutes before I thought I'd collapse lol.

I'm restarting couch 2 5k for like the 6th time. I got almost finished the program last time but wasn't allowed to work out cause of surgery. I have lost almost 20lbs since October and even though I have to keep restarting the program I keep going back to it. I like the c25k cause it is gradual. I have repeated session more than the three times if I haven't felt up to moving up. I definitely stayed doing week 1 for 2 and half weeks the first time lol. Running on a treadmill to me is easier than outdoors but everyone is different. Hope you end up liking c25k and good luck with your first session!

We're our own worst enemies! I HATE running. I have the same thought as you - like my body wasn't physically capable of running. I keep telling myself it's all in my head, but it's hard. With that being said, I'm up to a mile straight on treadmill which is huge for me! The next session in my C25K is running 20 minutes straight (2 miles) which I know I can't do yet, so I'm making my own intervals until I can build up to that. The program will be waiting for me. Good luck and stay motivated. It pays off!!

Jaime - I found this pinterest board for you! I came across it last night during a bout of insomnia
http://pinterest.com/daneallarkin/low-carb-recipes/

Also, I started my food/fitness lifestyle change on April 28, and as of today, after a LOT of a hard work and changes - I am down 15 lbs! It's not easy, but totally pays off. I've been getting extra time in at the gym, and eating more whole foods instead of processed stuff (including protein bars, which I used to love after the gym). I can't be more excited, and more people are starting to notice!

I even gave Joe a pep talk last night and told him it's time to get on board. He's so sluggish lately, and I'm full of energy. It's difficult for me to get to the gym, but I've gone 3 times in the past week BEFORE 8 AM! He feels he needs someone to be a little bit more accountable for him...and here I am ;).
I told him I don't want to hear about how fat he thinks he looks in our e-photos in October. I know it was a little harsh, but we're really the only ones who can give our FH's that push and sense of reality!

That is fantastic!! KEEP IT UP! Thank you for the pinterest board!!!

Hey Girls! Worked out for the third consecutive day. It's the first time I've been able to say that for quite some time. I was able to jog 1.65 miles in just over 19 minutes. Not the fastest but I'll take it. I also went for a 20 minutes walk after. I've been tracking and eating really well the last 3 days & I'm feeling quite proud of myself. I made a promise to myself that I will look & feel good for this wedding & honeymoon. I do NOT want to go to Hawaii and feel ashamed of myself. I WILL do this. This morning I was struggling at the end and literally said out loud to myself 'the dress' 'the dress' lol. I don't care what it is but I need motivation and I think I've finally found it. I took a 'before' photo on Monday and each month I plan to take a new one. I know I can do this. I haven't weighed myself and promised myself I won't for a month. I'm not as worried about the #. I just want to be in shape, look & feel good.

Keep up the good work girls! This thread really helps me stay accountable :)

So I went to yoga for the first time in a while since I have this groupon that will be expiring soon (funny how the idea of losing $$ on a groupon gives me the motivation to work out ) and it totally kicked my butt! I'm definitely feeling it today!

Don't feel bad bridejackson! I had every intention of goinf to the gym yesterday, but then got stuck at work until 7pm. So, after an 11 hour workday and the commute, I just wasn't in the mood. I tried to make up for it a little by walking my dog a little longer than usual...we made it about a mile and called it quits lol. I counted the day as a success because I was super stressed, but still stuck to my diet. We got this!

I was able to run 2 miles in 20 minutes at the gym today! That's the longest I ever ran in my life and I didn't need to take a walking break! Maybe finishing C25K IS possible!

Ok, I've been lurking on this thread for quite some time. It's time to get off my fat *** and do something.

My dress fits just fine, but it's a 18w, and I don't want it to be that size when I finally do this thing. I'm mostly belly, so much so that I've been offered seats on the subway because people thought I was pregnant. Very humiliating.

That being said, I finally reupped at Weightwatchers.com, doing the online thing. I'll start tracking my points again, then will add exercise when I can for the time being. I need to get back to walking 3 miles a day like I used to a year ago.

I got so fat after I met FH. He's managed to lose 80 lbs, and I've gained 40. Humiliating. We're the same weight, but I'm about 8 inches shorter than him. This needs to stop now.

Jen, present and accounted for.

Welcome Jen! Don't be so hard on yourself! I've had this exact conversation with a lot of couples - both people go on a diet and the guy loses a bunch of weight and the girl loses like..1 lb! It reminds me of the commercial with the cartoon stick figures where the guy keeps shrinking & the girl stays the same. SO frustrating! The ladies on this board are so supportive! Good luck!

Thanks Kristin & Adrianna! I kept thinking of this board when I was running and was like 'I can't wait to post this!' I was so excited b/c it took me since end of March/beginning of April to build up to this point.

Thanks for all of the inspiration everyone! Keep up the good work!

Jen, you are so not alone in feeling this way. My FH was a scrawny vegan when I met him and is now about 50 lbs heavier (from meat, dairy, and beer). But with a little diet and exercise, he loses weight so quickly it's kind of infuriating.

Over the course of our 9+ yrs together, I've gained the same amount as he did (I wasn't skinny when he met me, but I shot up to my heaviest last yr when my dad passed away) and and will have to literally work my butt off before I don't feel like a wildebeest in my dress! But, we can do it! It might just take a lot more sweat and dedication for us. I chalk it up to the many joys of being a woman! LOL

Thanks, guys. I hope I can stick with this. I think a naked pic of myself right now will be motivation. Too bad we have FH's kids every other weekend, dont' need them finding that pic on the fridge.

I made the mistake of telling FH (who will now be known as Groomzilla) about what I want to do about my weight, and he's all gung ho to do this with me. Why do I feel discouraged and sabotaged already? I feel that if I do this by myself and not tell anyone, then I don't need anyone judging me. I don't mean you guys - I need this motivation. I mean people I see every day.

Why do I already feel defeated?
