Congrats mrsmango on finding your dress. My friend swore by this she carried a picture of her dress in her wallet with her so if she was ever tempted to eat something she knew she should she would stop when she would go to see if she had money to get said bad food see the picture and go no can't. She also put it on her fridge too. She lost a ton of weight for her wedding continued to lose weight even after. She has since had a baby and lost the baby weight so she managed to stay motivated using her picture method. I say do whatever works. For me the starvation diet only gets me so far before I eat everything that is nailed down lol. I lost .4 this week which is a loss so I will take it I am a little bummed cause I really wanted to be down a lot more for our engagement shoot this past weekend and my hs reunion this upcoming weekend. I was really skinny in hs so I am not looking forward to going and being 'that girl that got fat' lol.

When I say starvation its more of a joke because I could never starve myself, I love food too much :)I did however get my a$$ outside this morning and ran 1.55 miles, My furthest yet in over a year :) I feel more motivated now then I have in a long time. I will be fit & in a bikini for our honeymoon. There is no greater motivation then our wedding so this is it!
Keep up the good work ladies! We can ALL do it!

It may be from lack of iron...I think taking a iron supplement would likely help. Unless you feel like you have a lot of iron intake via green leafy veggies...then I'd check with my dr if it keeps showing up.
So I ran Saturday morning, and went to the driving range Saturday night, then I ran Sunday morning, and again, more bruising down my thighs.
I was used to getting shin splints when I run (I run heavy!), and I ran when I was already sore so I knew I was asking for trouble.
Apparently I've pulled different muscles from my calves up to my thighs from running hard, and the bruising is due to that and the lack of vitamins.

It worked amazing for my friend and she looks great. It's amazing how she kept the motivation up even after the wedding just for herself. Which the wedding is an amazing motivation and reason but doing it for yourself is even better and more long run.
haha I am right there with you MrsMango. I love food too. After our engagement shoot was done on Saturday since I was all dressed up and had my makeup done and a cute dress on I was starving could eat my body weight in food at that point. Saturday was run around all day and I had no time to eat lol. So we ended up making a date night out of it. Had sushi in Huntington glass of wine to relax a bit and of course hit up Ben and Jerry's cause how can you go to Huntington and not go to Ben and jerry's lol. I figured cause I didn't eat all day it was okay to eat like a beast lol. Let's hope that it didn't make me gain anything by doing that haha.

Oh wow I would definitely for you and you can check with your doctor. Have an all natural granola meal supplement bar before you work out that has a lot of protein and vitamins in it and after a recovery protein shake. A lot of the protein powders now have a ton of vitamins in them. I use garden of life organic protein powder (its a bit gritty cause its raw food) but has iron, protein, vitamins in it. Your body needs a lot more vitamins, and protein when you work out harder than just a basic cardio or walking 30 minutes does.

Jaime - I found this pinterest board for you! I came across it last night during a bout of insomniahttp://pinterest.com/daneallarkin/low-carb-recipes/
Also, I started my food/fitness lifestyle change on April 28, and as of today, after a LOT of a hard work and changes - I am down 15 lbs! It's not easy, but totally pays off. I've been getting extra time in at the gym, and eating more whole foods instead of processed stuff (including protein bars, which I used to love after the gym). I can't be more excited, and more people are starting to notice!
I even gave Joe a pep talk last night and told him it's time to get on board. He's so sluggish lately, and I'm full of energy. It's difficult for me to get to the gym, but I've gone 3 times in the past week BEFORE 8 AM! He feels he needs someone to be a little bit more accountable for him...and here I am ;).
I told him I don't want to hear about how fat he thinks he looks in our e-photos in October. I know it was a little harsh, but we're really the only ones who can give our FH's that push and sense of reality!

Morning girls! I ran again today, and stuck to the track instead of the streets, and my legs are perfectly fine, I'm not the least bit sore. Looks like I just can't run hard on the pavement!Hope everyone's started off their week right! :)

Way to go! Congrats! I feel like that is the best motivation when people start noticing it just makes you feel good and makes it all worth it.
I really need to start getting to be earlier so I can get up and do my run before work I have been so bad lately with actually running. I seriously need to get back on it.

I'm lacking motivation but still sticking to it. Doesn't help that I feel like poop :( all icky congested. But I have had far less urges to binge eat that usual. Maybe I'm finally learning lol. Keep to it ladies, wish you all a good week!

I've been avoiding this thread like the plague. But after a few months of really bad eating and way too many wine & cheese nights with the girls, I'm finally starting over with my diet and exercise. It's great that you ladies are so supportive of each other and nice to see that I'm not the only one who doesn't love exercise! LolI've never truly ran in my life. I've walked for miles, and attempted to do a light jog before, but never really tried to run. After reading like 3 months worth of posts in this thread (yes, I am so busy at work today), I downloaded the C25K app and am going to give it a shot on the treadmill tonight. Maybe my shin splints were partially from trying to run on concrete...or at least that is what I'm going to tell myself so that I'll be extra motivated to make the treadmill running work for me. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences--it's very motivating and encouraging!

If it makes anyone feel better...I read an article on Yahoo! a few weeks ago, it said that all you need is 12 minutes of exercise a day to improve your health. That gets me going in the morning when I wake up late, I'm like 'Cmon, even if it's just 12 minutes, it's better than nothing' then I wind up just working out longer because I'm already out there.

15 lbs is awesome!!! Congratulations!! It's the best motivation when other ppl start to notice all your hard work!
I find that I feel better if I go to the gym in the morning than if I went after classes or work.

I've been doing C25K at the gym on a treadmill and it works! Sometimes I had to repeat a session or gradually increase myself to the next interval, but it gets done! I also found that I can't run outside the same distance as I can on a treadmill. I'm up to a mile on treadmill but def not that far outside.

Thanks Kristin and Camille! I guess I've always been intimidated by the idea of running, like there's no way I could do it. My brother has run marathons and I've always secretly envied that. About 10 years ago, I took a physical exam for a city job (it was 3/4 mile in 7 minutes) and I couldn't do it, even with my half-run/half-walk. I finished like 3rd to last and felt like a total loser. So, with the many times I've joined a gym (and gotten bored and subsequently quit) in the past, I've stuck with the elliptical or the step-climber machines. I recently joined Retro Fitness in Syosset and they have different cardio machines than Planet Fitness (my former gym that I rarely attended lol), which was nice. I tried the Lateral X elliptical yesterday (you move side to side in addition to the normal range of motion) and I could only do 10 minutes before I thought I'd collapse lol.
