How long does anyone think/from experience that it would take it loose 30 pounds?
I have 6 months till the big day and know I would feel so much better about myself if I was at goal weight
If you are strict on your diet you could definitely lose 1.5-2 lbs per week. So that is 6-8 lbs per month. Which would be 36-48 lbs in 6 months. Me personally I probably wouldn't be able to do it because I always 'slip up'/ I'd be happy with losing 3-4 lbs a month because I am a slow loser. Good Luck!
This!! Everyone is very different. I joined weight watchers cause it forces me to be a a lot more strict than I would be because I know once a week someone else is seeing my weight. They say 1-2 pounds per week is healthy to lose. If you are seriously determined to lose the weight you will do everything and anything to lose it. Good luck and let us know how you do!

It depends on the person, diet, exercise, etc. I work out 5-6 days a week and eat completely clean...I've rarely cheated in the past 8 months except for Ralph's or frozen yogurt which aren't really severe cheats, and I've lost 26 pounds.
ETA: If you're into calorie tracking, try myfitnesspal - it really taught me how to balance my meals and now I have everything I eat memorized so I barely use it except to track my weight progress.
When you first start, you enter your weight, height, goal weight, etc. and it works out a calorie plan for you and how many you'll lose per week. Give it a try!

So this past week has been super frustrating. I went to the gym 3x last week (a huge jump from not going at all) and ate relatively better during the week. My weight stayed the same all week and this morning I am two pounds heavier! It makes me wonder why I should bother when I can weigh LESS by eating my usual crap and not working out lol. But I think I just need to start tracking what I eat more. I was eating couscous for lunch everyday which sounds healthy but it's basically the same thing as pasta. ugh haha
I went to the Amish Market during lunch today and stocked up on salad greens, feta, and dressing for lunch this week, along with greek yogurt and honey. Need to stay motivated!!

Don't get hung up on the scale! I've been the same weight for weeks yet my body changed drastically.
It sounds silly, but try taking pictures of yourself and use that as a comparison over time! It's amazing what you notice in pictures that you don't see in the mirror or on a scale! & Don't get discouraged.

So like most of you, I've been on and off a diet for the majority of my life. I used to weigh in every Wednesday and whether I gained or lost the right amount of ounces totally dictated my mood and behavior, it was terrible and I was a wreck! I would starve myself the day or two before, and then actually eat right after I weighed in. Crazy!!Now, I've stopped weighing myself except for every few months. I weighed myself in April and then in July (and lost twenty pounds in those three months!) and won't weigh myself again till October. This way, I'm being consistently healthy and work out 5-6 days a week, and if I eat badly it's not a huge deal because I know I'll get back on track.
Just wanted to share this because it has REALLY helped me!

So I seemed to have fallen off the workout wagon after being really good these past few weeks. Just feeling really off and sluggish lately. I don't know if it is because I am in the process of purging things out of my pantry so I am getting rid f all things with grains, dairy, in it. I am going to give paleo life style a shot. After over a year back on vegetarian life style it seem to have escalated some of my health problems in the past few months. So need to try something else. Hopefully I have enough energy to workout later.

To the girls talking about getting on th scale but not losing weight-I always thought people saying you lose inches and the scale doesn't matter were LIARS and they didn't know anything about me.. I've been overweight my whole life. But starting at the end of June I started a huge change with dieting and exercise and told myself I wouldn't give up.. In 8 weeks time I lost 8 inches total from different parts of my body and only lost 3 pounds. People are complimenting me left and right and measurements and pictures don't lie!!

Congrats that is awesome! I actually do measure myself cause like you said the scale sometimes lies. I'm hoping to see some progress eventually I have lost a few inches this year but I have been at it for a year now and should see a lot more progress than what I have seen so far. Hopefully the new eating change that I plan to start soon will help kick start that.

That is amazing! I definitely need to start measuring myself.. and taking progress is also a great tactic although I will want to burn the 'before' ones after!

Ahh I have been doing soo well with my diet until this week. Since April I've lost a total of 11 pounds but this week I went to hell with myself. I'm supposed to go to weight watchers Saturday morning but I'm seriously dreading it. I've been eating horrible and drank a lot this week ...not to mention I'm also PMSing so I know the scale is gonna be horrible. AAhh I hate when I get off track! Sorry I needed to vent a little lol

Hi ladies,I'll officially be a registered dietitian by next summer, and even I have difficulties getting on track.
Officially trying to reduce my body fat/gain more muscle by next summer. I'm more concerned with how I'm going to look in a bathing suit in Greece then my dress at the wedding, haha.
Well, i'll do my best to get my expertise on this board without over-stepping!! I'd love to help if anyone needs. I LOVE what everyones saying about not being obsessed with the number, that's 1000000% true. Focus on how you feel and measurements.
My issue- not eating enough during the day and then being STARVING at night and over eating. Packing my meals for the whole day is such a process that I sometimes get lazy and don't do it. Going to start making a conscious effort to do so!
Looking fwd to staying on track and CONGRATS so all of you that have been successful!!!

That was me last week so I totally here ya! I'm in the process of purging out things out of my pantry/fridge/freezer so I can hit the restart button and try a new eating approach. I didn't realize how much stuff I let in the house not horribly bad stuff most of it is healthy grains, beans, and such but the new eating plan doesn't include that so I have been eating a lot instead of a little grains this week so I am looking forward for it all to be gone so I can get on with a fresh start. You'll get back on don't let the slip up take you out.
