Ahh I have been doing soo well with my diet until this week. Since April I've lost a total of 11 pounds but this week I went to hell with myself. I'm supposed to go to weight watchers Saturday morning but I'm seriously dreading it. I've been eating horrible and drank a lot this week ...not to mention I'm also PMSing so I know the scale is gonna be horrible. AAhh I hate when I get off track! Sorry I needed to vent a little lol
That was me last week so I totally here ya! I'm in the process of purging out things out of my pantry/fridge/freezer so I can hit the restart button and try a new eating approach. I didn't realize how much stuff I let in the house not horribly bad stuff most of it is healthy grains, beans, and such but the new eating plan doesn't include that so I have been eating a lot instead of a little grains this week so I am looking forward for it all to be gone so I can get on with a fresh start. You'll get back on don't let the slip up take you out.
Thank you- you're so supportive!
ITA! BrideJackson has been so supportive in cheering us all on! Thanks!

Hi ladies,
I'll officially be a registered dietitian by next summer, and even I have difficulties getting on track.
Officially trying to reduce my body fat/gain more muscle by next summer. I'm more concerned with how I'm going to look in a bathing suit in Greece then my dress at the wedding, haha.
Well, i'll do my best to get my expertise on this board without over-stepping!! I'd love to help if anyone needs. I LOVE what everyones saying about not being obsessed with the number, that's 1000000% true. Focus on how you feel and measurements.
My issue- not eating enough during the day and then being STARVING at night and over eating. Packing my meals for the whole day is such a process that I sometimes get lazy and don't do it. Going to start making a conscious effort to do so!
Looking fwd to staying on track and CONGRATS so all of you that have been successful!!!
The more help the merrier! I get so caught up/confused in good fats and fruits that are high in sugars that I end up not knowing what to eat and then end up starving! I think by eating fruit I'm doing good and then I hear that grapes and bananas are fattening?
I also eat pretty much everything in sight around 3-5 in the afternoon so if you have any tips to curb that hunger that would be much appreciated!

Awww thanks we I know first hand how hard it is you need that encouragement and support to keep us going. Even though we all have the same goal to look good for the wedding, we trail off it happens but keeping motivated is key and we all know how hard that is. Glad I can be encouraging :)

The fruit debate and I have done research on it too for my job (fitness magazines) Yes fruit has high sugar and carbs and even though fruit has a lot of health benefits the key is the 'overdoing it' in fruit. I found that even with research you can easily argue both sides so it's honestly chalked up to moderation is key. A serving size of a banana I did find out is actually not a whole banana but a half. Consuming a banana a day can be the overdoing it your adding a lot of sugar and carbs even though way healthy than let say a chocolate chip cookie your body will process the sugar and carbs in the same way. Just moderate your fruit consumption to a piece or 2 a day or serving and change up types of fruits if your not a picky fruit eater. Melons and berries are actually some of the better choices in fruit for lower sugar and carbs and high antioxidants.
Also the 3-5 afternoon hunger might be from your sugar level up and downs that is a big culprit for cravings and afternoon hunger is when your blood sugar has not been at a steady level but up and down throughout the day.

Who makes a serving half a piece of fruit??
Any ideas on how to keep my blood sugar level? I'm good at breakfast and lunch and then I blow it all in that 3-5 window.

Oh I know trust me I was like 'really?' on that one too until I did some research and banana's kept coming up half a banana is a serving.
It's important to make sure meals are balanced to keep blood sugar stable, ex if your going to eat oatmeal for breakfast it's not terribly high protein add nuts or a hard boiled egg to it for protein. Also if you add raisins which can be high in sugar make sure it's just a serving or less so that it doesn't spike your sugar. so it's important to make sure you have a protein with your carbs/sugar even if your carbs are veggies from a salad. Also if your not hydrated enough that can sometimes cause afternoon cravings.

Ugh! I am starting to feel gross! I was doing so well, hitting the gym & eating right & totally fell off. FH & I moved in together & have just been SOOO busy. I havent exercised or been eating as good as I should be. We are just about settled in & I am looking to get back on my game. I said tomorrow is the day, so I am sticking to it. I have 284 days to get myself in awesome shape. I made a promise to myself I want to look & feel good in a bikini & I AM going to do it. I plan on cooking heathy & getting back on my exercise grind. I don't get why I am struggling so bad when I have done this before. its 10 lbs! ugh just get the eff off my body already!

I hear you I fell off the wagon too but have slowly added back some exercise when I had a free moment last week. And I am getting back on healthy eating this week. I got a lot of weight to lose and I have barely made a dent in my weight loss total. Time to get really serious hoping this time is it.

I've been mia from this thread because its been a hectic summer. But I have to come back because my dress is hanging in my closet and I can't currently sit in it. I've been really good about eating healthy I just have to get back to running.

I fell off the wagon too. Like some of you said I was also doing really well a few weeks ago and then started finding excuses and slipped back into my bad eating habits and started making excuses to not go to the gym. I officially gave up running which is probably a bad decision but I hate it so much that I started using it as the reason to not go to the gym. I'm hoping power walking on an incline has the same results!

i'm popping in here ... just started going back to the gym and could use some encouragement ... i HATE the gym but it's literally the only way i'll exercise (won't run, yoga, etc).i need to drop some serious pounds to be at my wedding best ... I'm trying hard to snack less too ... snacking is my downfall. :(

I am with you on that guitarstikibars, I LOVE snacking. It's hard to sit here watching everyone else eat chips and other fun snacks for Monday night football, and I am eating cantaloupe. Lol I've been trying to fill up on a lot of water and green tea at night. If I'm that hungry ill munch on some carrots.

Yes! The holidays due tend to kill a little bit, but this will be the test. What do the professionals say, go 30 days without junk food and you'll cave it less.....I don't know about that yet, but I will try my hardest. Looking better in a wedding dress is more gratifying. We can beat the holidays!!

Having an
day at work, and still haven't weighed in for September. I haven't been able to run in a week so I think I'll hold off on that, but I can still see the improvement. I went away this past weekend but started Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred right before I left, and I love it! I downloaded it right onto my iPad.Boring progress picture:
For anyone trying to lose weight...I highly recommend using progress pictures! It makes it so much easier to see the difference without fussing over the number on the scale.
