so just yesterday i was thinking that we attended this wedding in march...and still no thank you...how could a LIW bride do such a thing??? well, finally it came yesterday...but still...3 months?? ladies, that's just too long. oh, and my name was left off the envelope AGAIN. unbelievable. we live together, we're getting married in 2 weeks and i wrote the check out!!!!! sorry...but that just bugs me.
edited for those complaining:
the thank you was NOT a photo nor did it include one. so, for a non-photo thank you, 3 months is a bit long. she doesn't have that much going on in her life and her job is as boring as mine.

the real point of this thread was that she left my name off....and is someone FH and I have constant contact with...and is attending our wedding in 12 days.

I think you are missing my point. I'm no means trying to flame you or anything. But your original post says that '3 months is too long' and then you say...by the way...she left my name off the thank you. If you re-read it, it seems that you care MOSTLY that she sent it 3 months after the wedding and 'how could a LIW bride do that.'
I know you clarify your position later on, but as you can see, a lot of posters didn't see that. If it were me (and believe me, I have had it be me before), I would have edited my original post to clarify what I meant, because as it stands, you are saying in your first post that the 3 months is too long.
Obviously, it's sensitive to many people. I am sure once you are married and are awaitng your proofs and then agonizing over the 'best' pic for the thank you (and then have to write all them out!) you will understand why it takes a while to get them out the door!
I was just giving you a suggestion, rather than trying to stir something up. Since this post came back from the old pages, it's obviously something that bothered some brides.

Very well said leese!! I have to agree 100% with you!
I am a bride that got married in March & had mine out 2 months after the date...It was a hard decision & when you are in that position in 12 days, you might feel the same way...Just because your name was left off something, doesn't make sense to make a post stating 3 months is SOOO long!!!
If you want to send out 'non-traditional' thank you's then go right ahead & do it the next day...But for me, I was not sending anything but tradition & was not doing it the week after my wedding as I was on my HM & enjoying time with my DH!!!

What difference does it make as long as they send out a formal thank you. . .now not getting a thank you card at all, that is something to beef about.
lol i agree 100%... i mean, i've thought to myself before 'wow, that took some time' but that was after like 9-10 months and I never thought that was a bad thing and it never offended me. Not getting one at all or the name not being on it like you mentioned-- that's not very nice!! but I think for wedding thank you's you do have up to one year to send a TY. and sometimes getting pics from the photog can really delay it. i don't think i would have thought that at the three month mark-- maybe like 8-9 months.
the only time i ever recall being like totally shocked and offended was when i got a thank you card and it had the pic of the couple on the outside and on the inside it was printed (came that way) Thank You and then at the bottom they just signed their names!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not Dear Danielle and Vinny, not Love John and Gerilyn nothing!!!!!!! just signed scribble John and signed scribble Jerilyn and the printed Thank you in the card!!! LOL!!! FH was not happy about that!
here's another interesting one: i have a girlfriend at work who got married in january, told me herself that she got the proofs back in TWO WEEKS lol and she still has not even written ONE THANK YOU CARD!!!!!! she got married on january 6th... lol yikes-- that's getting to the point where it has been a while. hmmmmm
all this is too entertaining

regardless if she got her proofs back 2 weeks later or 2 months later, you don't know what else is going on in her life. TY's do take a while to get out. You'll see yourself when you get married next year. I thought, 3 months would be no problem... boy was I wrong! Especially since I made sure to write something meaningful and sincere in each and every one of my 200+ TY cards, while working full time, taking care of every day issues that come up in the house, family obligations...etc....

if that was the real point of the thread then why did you post that article on the etiquette of thank yous???? and how long you should send them out. Honestly i didnt mean to cause drama. It is not right of her to exclude your name on everything. you should say something to her if you talk to her all the time.

Re: 3 months later, we got a thank you!
Well I went to a wedding in October 2005 and another one in November 2005 and we never recieved a Thank You for either one. I think it is rude and shows no class. Quick to invite us and then no thank you. I was invited to a baby shower for one and declined because of that. For the November Bride, she was pregnant and home the whole time doing not a thing so no excuse in my mind

I don't think 3months is that long. One friend sent hers before her 1 year mark.
Another friend got marriend in 2002. I am still waiting for the thank you. He was divorced within 6 months. So I guess that thank you is not coming.

I th ink anything beyond 6 weeks is rude... you start to wonder, did they get the gift? do they know it was me who gave them _____________ or ______________. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and never received a thank you and that was 3 years ago!!!! i think if you're doing photo thank you's,you need to push your photographer to find a nice proof to print out quickly or why not get really nice stationary and just handwrite them and then throw in the photos in a christmas card or other future correspondence? i don't know... maybe i am too traditional, but to me, more than a month or two, forget about a year, is inexcusable and rude.

I didn't even get my proofs back in six weeks! I hope your photographer gets them back to you sooner!
Good idea about throwing them in the XMAS card later on though, if it's taking too long with the photos!

All I can say to the girls who are bothered by lateness in TY notes is Just Wait until it's your turn. Believe me when I say that THE DAY I got back from my HM my FIL was on my case about TY notes.
I was MOH for my friend's wedding more than 3 years ago and have yet to receive at TY. Do you think that bothers me? No, It Doesn't. Because there are way more important things to worry about in this world.

Disclaimer: I am not targeting anyone
While I understand that brides have to wait for the photographer's proof, I am not quite sure why the harsh words towards another bride expressing what she experienced or how she feels about it.
It is interesting that while brides are tired, exhausted from their wedding, have better things to do, etc. they have found the time to get all the presents and cash in no time. Am I wrong?
So, it's not about excuses. We all know we procastinate a bit. I am guilty of that too. But this is about respect and plain and simple being polite.
Would we accept a birthday present without saying thank you? While we have 1 year to do so for a wedding. Come one Ladies!
If you don't care, good for you. I actually would be guilty about it!

Right, we're all entitled to our opinions, but the ladies that have already been married and through this, do have more insight than the ladies who have yet to experience this. I had a 500 person guest list. You try getting TY's out within a 6 week period for that many people.
You'll feel very differently after your day comes and goes too.
I'm quite proud of myself that it really only took 3 months from the time I received the TY cards and pictures back from my photog (approx 9 weeks from my wedding) . to get that many TY's out.
