5 carat diamond?

A classmate of mine got engaged this weekend and was showing off her to everyone and bragging about how it was 5 carats!

It was a pretty big diamond but not HUGE. Has anyone seen a diamond that big? Would it look ridiculous on a ring? 1 carats... 2... maybe even 3, but I've never seen a 5 carat solitaire! (until today?)

I've seen a 4 carat and it was too much for her finger. She barely wears it because it's big and she's scared it'll get knocked off.
To me thats a waste of $!

That's the thing -- I'm assuming a 5 carat ring is HUGE and hers looks more like what i would imagine a 3 carat ring to look like. who knows.

it totally depends on the cut and setting.
I know someone with a 4.something carat ring and it's perfect for her.
yes it's HUGE but she's marrying a multimillionare so it was sort of expected. i don't think it's obnoxious or anything...

however, if she went around bragging about it, i'd smack the crap out of her b/c THAT is obnoxious.

Another thought:

The other thing about tremendous diamonds, is that when they're that big, I think some people assume they're fake (unless you're a celebrity, of course). Like a costume cocktail ring. I'd much rather people know that my beautiful one carat is real!

I would LOVE to see it! I love diamonds! Especially big ones! lmao

If I had a 5 ct ring, I would def brag

i agree - i think that sometimes people might think that about my ring.....its not huge like a celebrity's or 5 carats but I think that especially since I look really young and my stone is on the larger side strangers probably think its not real! but if anyone thinks that it is fake - then they are just hating on me anyways!

I have never seen one that big in person.... holy!!!! if that ring has good clarity and color forget about it....it must be a fortune!!!

My cousin's cousin (lol) has my exact ring except her center stone is over 4 carats. So with the baguettes on the side it probably reaches about 5 carats. maybe even more cause the baguettes are massive! I saw her at my cousins baby shower and she was looking at mine and was like OMG its soooo nice, we match!! And she would hold mine up against hers..its like umm dont do that just to show off how ridiculously large your ring is next to mine! A S S

hahaha I knowwwww...This girl is a rich b I T C H. Never liked her and she's always at my cousins family functions etc. Not to mention the fact she has 2 very ugly, very annoying children lol its mean I know but they are just rotten, spoiled brats...ahhhhhhh i'm done venting now lol

Holy crow! that's HUGE! I would think that would get annoying to wear. I'm sure I would hit it against everything.
